I'm sorry Barry Lyndon is not on the list which is, for my money, the best film ever made. I will say The Entity is an inspired and provocative choice.
Ari Asters other movie, Hereditary, blows it out of the water and IMO is the most unsettling thing I've ever seen on screen.
Midsommar is the film he will be remembered for. Hereditary is very good but Midsommar is a classic.
I can't argue that point, Midsommar will be the one he's remembered for. I just didn't find it terribly compelling. I mean is the Wicker Man that rare? It just felt a little tired, although I do agree with Scorsese's comment about some visual sequences sticking with you. I just found Hereditary to be a more powerful story. Honestly, it's the only time a horror movie has left me truly scared or uncomfortable.

I disagree. Its one of the only movies I can think of in the genre that takes place almost exclusively in the day time, and can be that dark and twisted. You know what was coming, but hope your wrong while watching - very difficult to pull off. I loved it.
that I weight movies heavily on the technical aspect so that plays a role too. Aster is able to tell so much of the story without dialogue and that matters to me a lot.

Hereditary has some great stuff in it. It pushes the line. Sensational debut by the director.

That's a really good point I've seen made about it as well. I dunno, maybe I need to watch it again.
Both really good movies but obviously different in style. I know Midsommar is the more popular of the two but personally I thought Hereditary was one of my favorite horror movies of the last decade. Toni Collette is a hell of an actress.

Any chance you've seen Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal?

Maybe the best animated series I’ve ever seen. Just finished season 2, simply good ass tv.
There is not a single Rob Schneider movie on this list

Such a good story and agreed, probably my favorite animated series of all time. Interested to see if it will in fact continue as an anthology style series which is what many believe after the very fun but strangley placed Primal Effect episode.
I saw 'The Haunting'-the '63 version-when I was 9. I slept with the light on for a week, Haha. They did a remake in the late '90s with Liam Nielson, Catherine Zeta Jones, Owen Wilson, etc.
Ari Asters other movie, Hereditary, blows it out of the water and IMO is the most unsettling thing I've ever seen on screen.
I want to see Hereditary but don't think I have the brain or stomach for it. I've heard great (horrible) things....Some of These horror movies today or so mind fuckingly painful. Don't think I can do it...

The infamous scene in the movie is one that truly shocked me. Didn't expect it and it was executed perfectly. Their isn't much gore in the movie from what I can remember, but the world the family lives in is fucked up beyond belief.

Haha I can live with gore--I used to love any and all horror but the mind fuck variety turns me into a little baby. I loved get out and us but I have a feeling this one will fuck me up lol. I might have to do it anyway.

I haven't but I'll be checking it out, thanks.
Let me know what you think, we seem to have a lot of similar interests. I thought of starting a thread on it but figured it was a little too niche.

Yep, I was following the reddit for the series and have been checking to see if a 3rd season has been greenlit. It does seem like that's the direction he wants to go, and that particular episode came out of left field. Probably my least favorite episode but even that was enjoyable.
If I had an issue with the show it's that the pacing kind of sped up a little too fast at the end of season 2, but all in all I just really enjoyed the show. Even if there's no more future seasons, I'm satisfied that I got to watch 2 brilliant seasons of TV.
Among Genddy's other work I've only watched Samurai Jack which I really liked as well. There is something so relaxing about an animated show that relies so much on the art itself and uses limited dialogue.
I saw 'The Haunting'-the '63 version-when I was 9. I slept with the light on for a week, Haha. They did a remake in the late '90s with Liam Nielson, Catherine Zeta Jones, Owen Wilson, etc.
Yeah based on The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson. The book is very good, and the Netflix series from a few years back was also good.
on your last point, that's what I loved about his Clone Wars series. Its up there with the best of all the Star Wars content, IMO.
I'll admit that I'm not the biggest Star Wars fan, but during COVID I re-watched the OG trilogy and the prequels but still haven't seen any of the new wave of Star Wars movies. But the Clone Wars series always looked pretty cool and I've heard nothing but good reviews from a wide range of people.
I know anyone can watch the show, but as someone who is definitely lacking in background random Star Wars knowledge, would I be lost with the plot?

The Wicker Man (the original, not the remake)

Others I tried but couldn't get into, such as L’Avventura,I Walked With A Zombie, and East Of Eden.

Just watched it recently for the first time, I can see why it's already a cult classic, or even just a classic.
Scorses has got a lot of horror movies on that list, I'm surprised he hasn't put out more of that genre himself.
COME ON MAN!!!!
Nope and good
Which Caddyshack are you referring to, I or II?
