NFT: My father passed away Monday

Mr. Nickels : 9/28/2022 3:55 pm
During the game which I obviously was not watching my father passed away. It was unexpected but I knew it was coming if that makes sense.

My father actually built Lawrence Taylor's restaurant. I have an autographed football from the Super Bowl team. He wasn't the biggest sports fan as all he was more of a hunter and woodworking type but we went to some games together.

Really going to miss him.
Sorry to hear that Mr. Nickels

My condolences, Mr Nickels.

How old was your Dad ?

I got to spend a lot of quality time with my Dad in his later years. I would go over to his place once a week. He would always pour us shots of sambuca or something stronger, and we'd raise our glass in the Italian Toast.

"Cent Anni" -- May you live a hundred years.

Dad lived to be 99 and 2 months. I give him the Extra Credit for living thru the Great Depression and fighting in World War II.

Cent Anni.
I’m so sorry

right after the NFCC game with San Fran back in 2012 and it was tough time. Still hard to remember that great Super Bowl run without a pause thinking about that family loss.

May your Dad rest in peace...

I remember that restaurant. With the larger than life LT bustin' thru the wall at the front entrance.

Again, my deepest condolences. Revel in the good times you had with your Dad....67 is way too young.

Family. May you be comforted by all the good memories of the times you shared with him. My Dad passed away when I was 5 so I don't really have any father-son memories with him but it's always nice to hear the stories you all share about the bonds you have/had with yours. I feel like I really bond with my kids closely especially over sports so hopefully one day that's what they'll remember fondly.

I lost my dad when I was young. Grief is difficult and different for everyone. I don’t think anyone gets a decent lesson on how to deal with it, particularly guys. It messed me up for a long time.

Best advice I’ve ever gotten: allow yourself to feel exactly what you feel. With loss, most people fuck themselves up comparing themselves to others, trying to feel something you don’t, or trying to NOT feel something you do. There’s no “normal” feelings, you’re not “supposed to” feel anything, and there’s not a correct timeline for how long it should take to be okay. Don’t judge yourself, just be strong for those who need you to be (kids, your mom) and then surround yourself with people who won’t judge you either, and you can just be honest with about where you’re at.

I do my best to try to be the parts of my father that I loved the most, so in some ways, he lives on.

My heart goes out to you and yours. Keep your head up man.
Mr Nickels
