Cole vs. White
Try not to throw too many meatballs tonight Gerrit.
Rest tomorrow and do it at home.
I don't understand why Boone turns to him in critical late innings.

again....1-2 count on Springer and the poor sliders to walk him.

Not sure if you’ve paid attention, but these aren’t exactly “critical late innings”. This game means less than nothing in the standings for the Yanks. The goal is to get Schmidt right.
Yes....
More embarrassing than the hicks gaffe earlier in the game
The Blue Jays are incredibly talented offensively but they are an absolute dumpster fire when it comes to doing the other things. They are mentally weak.

Hahaha. Cimber misfires to home and then totally forgets to go cover the bag. Gave us 2 free runs.

They are, and it's been a problem spanning more than just this year. Even when Montoyo was there, they had all sorts of clusterfuck issues running the bases.
They can slug with anyone in baseball but they don't do the little things and that's why they aren't a championship team.
Hopefully that's something he can build off.
But right now, I wouldn't be surprised to see anyone from Loaisiga to Effross to Peralta (when he's back), etc. in 9th innings.
We have a bit of a time luxury here where we're pretty locked into the #2 spot and not in any danger of being passed. Between the remainder of the regular season and the bye, the Yanks have a couple of weeks to try and get this figured out a bit and get some players healthy.
Sounds like LeMahieu is activated Friday, we'll see what he's got.
1-0 in the Anthony Rizzo era.
I would list him as 3rd or 4th in line. Holmes, Loaisiga, Effross, Trivino....
Oh well, maybe next year.
Surprised you found time to troll this thread. I see you’ve got much bigger fish to fry right now. Like trying to figure out whether or not you can microwave beef jerky…
You had better knock on wood or light some incense after that post or we will find you...

The first couple of months after the All-Star break was not good at all, but this team has really picked themselves up in a big way the past month or so. I feel good about this team again. Only team in either the AL or NL that I'd be worried about is the Astros. I think if the Yanks can get to the World Series; they can win it. Dodgers would give them a run for their money and would be a great series, but outside of that, no other team in the NL or AL (outside of Houston) will stop them, IMO.

Hehe, always knocking on wood. Also made sure to say "IMO," which it is, just my opinion.

Whew....time for some Holy Water and not the drinking kind!
Cashman made a big mistake passing on Verlander. Verlander may well be the reason the Yankees don't get passed Houston.
Agreed. Yet he claims he drinks Bigelow tea to keep his voice in broadcast shape.
I never heard anyone accuse the late 90's Yankees of being full of 'roiders. Later, Pettitte was with the Astros when he used. Clements and A-Rod were after.
So WRATGAS.....
2000 and a Bench player. Barely remember him.

But maybe you can help me out. It's coming up again because of the HR record and steroids. Yankee haters always throw this out there: "well we all know those 90's Yankee teams were filled with steroid users so if you complain about Mcgwire or Bonds then it taints those championships " It always seems to go unchallenged. Who exactly are they talking about? Jeter? Bernie? Tino? O'Neill? Straw? Posada? Bernie? Mariano? Cone? Wells? Jeff Nelson? Scott Broscious? Seems to me those teams were the antithesis of big hulking sluggers. Clemens didn't come till '99 and was hardly a factor that year ( Wells was much better in '98) the only title he really factored in was 2000. Arod wasnt here till 2004. Giambi not till 2002. Pettite admitted to HGH use with the Astros and I doubt he was doing it as a young player but even if he was that's one pitcher. Hardly a team loaded with them. I don't get it, never have.

Some guy on twitter when I asked rattled off a bunch of guys who came after Like Melky Cabrera(LOL) and Sheffield/Kevin Brown. Then said Knoblauch (Had his worst years doing roids) ,Pettite and David Justice. besides Pettite not exactly a daunting list seeing as Justice was here 1 year (2000). However I have heard people like Mad Dog Russo and others say it ad nauseum. Obviously its a Yankee hater theme, but it always seems to go unchallenged and I never got it.

Britton things....trying to get Judge another AB....
He has to pitch every third day.
Too late in the season is a problem for a guy like Britton.
He needs time to get his act together. Now if it was July or August, that would make a big difference. I mean he came in with one out, got the first batter, then proceeds to walk the next two, His first appearance he walks three guys...
I know he is rusty, it just takes him a long time after a long layoff, we have seen this numerous times. I am just glad that him and Chapman will be gone next year!
Oh well, maybe next year.
There is no asterisk, Ford Frick is not around anymore.
Those days are over with.
I would start Nestor game 1, even if he doesn’t have his best stuff he battles. Cole has the ability to absolutely implode and lose you a game in one inning.

No doubt. That is why I think they should play him as much as he can handle. Yes it was basically the same as his 1st game. Ok for 1 batter, then lost his control. There is no penalty for trying to sort him out. He is a big add if he can be close to himself.
For the month of September, he has played 17 games, 10 of them in AA. Over those 17 games, he's posted a triple slash of .313/.413/.716, hitting 7 homers, knocking 18 RBI, and stealing 3 bases without being caught.
Still just 19 years old. I don't think we're going to see those "Jasson Dominguez is a bust" articles again.

Correct. He's growing up before our eyes. Going to be fun to watch.

as just another SP in the playoffs. No more ace treatment/he'll work his way out of it nonsense. When Nestor or Sevi gets into trouble in the 5th or 6th they get the hook. That has to be Cole now too. Hopefully with the Pen arms getting healthy we have the depth to handle it. Not to mention you usually don't play more than 2 or 3 days at the most in a row in the playoffs any way.

agree with you guys. fuck the contract, no scholarships. Cole fell off the fucking slate last night for a balk. And gagged a 3 run lead. Again.

Not only this, but he hit 2 HRs in the deciding game to win Somerset the title. After hitting a bomb over the CF wall in the previous game to tie the series. Stud.
