NFT: What are you eating this weekend?

Bill in UT : 9/30/2022 1:00 am
Friday I'm doing the Benihana routine, hibachi steak. The steak in this ATK recipe is a ribeye, done on the bone, not cut up like at a Japanese steakhouse. Will be making the standard onion/zucchini and egg fried rice sides, along with 3 dipping sauces.
Saturday, Mrs. in UT actually volunteered to have my ancho pork shoulder as a leftover. I'm making cumin cauliflower puree with that.
And Sunday, I'm making ribs 2 ways- half of them with a rosemeary-fennel rub in the oven at 325, the others with Scott's recipe, in the sous vide and then seared and served with a spicy Asian sauce. Making some simple cole slaw as a side.
What are you guys up to?
Hi Bill. only cooking tonight. We're invited to a friend's for dinner
Victor in CT : 9/30/2022 7:32 am : link
tomorrow, Sunday we have Mrs. in CTs annual family reunion at her cousin's farm in Lafayette, NJ.

I've been in the mood for linguini with white clam sauce, so going to get some fresh local clams today. Will have a salad as well, maybe some garlic bread since our daughter is coming for dinner and likes that.
Tonight we are going to a friends house
johnnyb : 9/30/2022 8:42 am : link
to watch the premier of “The Greatest Beer Run Ever”, a true story of a NY guy who brought beer to his buddies in Vietnam. Our friend is a relative of the central character. As you might have guessed Vietnamese food is on the menu. Not sure what though.

Saturday is an Octoberfest party at a friends house. Plenty of wursts and beer.

And Sunday is the tailgate for the Giant game. Not sure what is on the menu for that just yet.

Enjoy the weekend!
Got invited to Braves-Mets game tonight so we'll be eating

and drinking in The Battery somewhere pregame. Pulling for the local ATL boys to tie this one up with only a few games to go in the season. Should be good crowd and a crisp clear night for a ballgame.

We are hosting dinner tomorrow night for our customary Georgia Bulldog crowd of somewhere between 8-12 people. Gametime is around 7:30pm versus Missouri but we'll be doing drinks and apps well before that. Still putting together the menu but we do this so often, everybody winds up pitching in and brings something to share whether it be food or drink.

I am thinking prosciutto-wrapped shrimp and some type of bruschetta for the apps I am making since I can do both easily on the grill. Others are bringing some type of hot artichoke dip and I think some cut up smoked sausages and a big cheese board.

For the main, I am thinking of marinating a couple of flanks steaks (mustard, balsamic, red wine vinegar and few other ingredients). And then heat up all the extra marinade as kind of a dipping glaze sauce. Mrs. Googs will make a few sides in the oven including rosemary roasted potatoes and some charred vegetables. Likely some type of salad will be coming. And I think I heard a homemade cheesecake to finish it all up.

Have plenty of vino but getting low on bourbon and probably prosecco so liquor store run at some point is a must for this crowd. Go 'Dawgs...

is the last of the chicken and grilled veggies from Sunday. Tonight? For some reason steak and eggs popped in my head so I thought why not? Pan cooked chuck steak with 4 eggs and hash browns.

Tomorrow is simple: dogs. Half in a bun, half with beans

Sunday dinner is grilled yogurt marinated leg of lamb with spinach couscous and garlic butter peas. The marinade is plain regular yogurt (Greek is too thick) blended with garlic, cumin and mint. Gonna grill it till medium rare. The couscous is a pack of defrosted chopped spinach cooked in chicken stock and poured over it with onion, garlic and butter for added flavor. The peas is frozen peas topped with a homemade garlic butter

will have a prime boneless ribeye. I will be using Jealous Devil XL Chunx lump charcoal for the first time.

Leftover wings and/or shrimp cocktail will start it off.

Drinking a side by side by side tasting of Rodenbach Classic, Grand Cru, and Alexander. I'll also have some Okteberfests.

Is that the Binchotan charcoal style? please let me know how it work's out I have been looking for a cheaper alternative.

Enjoy the tailgate.
No plan’s on meals currently, kind of in standby mode with WCK

We had our ERT team packed and ready to go heading to Florida but with the shift and increased strength we were asked to stay put for the time being incase our assistance was needed in the Carolinas.

So as of now I will be in the coast of the Carolinas or western Florida time will tell. Fortunately, A SVP with our client we all work for donates his fancy RV and trailer for our efforts as well his driver donates his time. Trailer is packed to the gills with 200 cases of bottled water. And 6 of us are just waiting to find out where we wind up? It’s nice knowing you are self-contained though having a place to sleep with heat/air and hot water for showers and satellite is such a plus.

I wasn't familiar with the initials, but World Central Kitchen provides food to disaster areas. Good for you, Scott. Stay safe

It was supposed to be the Binchotan style. I planned to use that for yakitori. They screwed up the order, sent lump charcoal, said their computers were fucked up, so they refunded me and told me to keep the lump charcoal for free.

I bought 5 boxes of Prime 6 at a supermarket closeout. That works as a Binchotan substitute. I guess it is considered Ogatan style.

What do you use the Binchotan for?

I like pulled pork, and I'd bet that a large majority of people who cook pork butt go the pulled pork route, but I'd think 90% of the time that I do pork butt I go either roasted slices or braised chunks. But(t) pulled with slaw and pickles on a bun sounds great.

I'm not gonna touch that, lol
It's been a long time, but today I'm making
smshmth8690 : 10/2/2022 11:16 am : link
Sunday Sauce. I usually do meatballs & sausage, but it's a little different this time. Today I have Italian Hot, and Sweet Sausage from A&S Pork store in Keansburg NJ. They make the best sausage in the are (imo). Instead of the usual meatballs, I'm adding some boneless short ribs. Going to let it simmer for 4 or 5 hours, and eat it after the game. Instead of past I'm making a Spaghetti Squash 'Baked Ziti'. I roasted, and shredded 3 small spaghetti squash, added a little sauce, ricotta, grated parmesan, and some mozzarella. I know it ain't pasta, but it will have to do!
Let's Go Giants!
