GBN Draft Report Top 50 Big Board (September 28th)

M.S. : 9/30/2022 7:57 am

It's still way too early in the season to know where the Giants will be selecting, but we all know where the gaping holes are. The first wide receiver on this list is Jaxon Smith-Njigba (Ohio State) at #4, followed by Jordan Addison (USC) at #8. And if the Giants passing game does not get out of kindergarten, there's a real good chance they'll be picking at either one of these spots. Fortunately, the wide receiver position is well represented in GBN's Top 50, as is QB and CB... two other positions Joe Schoen will be carefully studying:

QB 8
CB 7
WR 7
OT 6
LB 4
DE 3
FS 3
RB 3
DE/ER 2
DT 2
ER 2
NT 1
S 1
TE 1

20% of GBN's Big Board is comprised of two SEC power houses (Alabama and Georgia), and 9 college programs in all have placed multiple players on the list:

Alabama 6
Georgia 4
Clemson 3
Miami 3
Notre Dame 3
Ohio State 3
LSU 2
Oregon 2
Texas A&M 2

Needs some love. WR, Boston College.
They probably better chance of drafting a one of the QB's then they do

Jaxon Smith-Njigba

Top 5? Certainly top 10.
I’m looking at those CB prospects wondering if that

Is the direction the Giants will go in the 1sr rd next year.
Cam Ward?

The first time I've seen him anywhere near the top 50, can't say I know much about him, but Tanner McKee has no business being on that list. Later rounds, sure, but top 50? I don't see it.
Cam Ward and Hooker as the 4th and 5th QB

After the top 3 QBs everyone has 4 and 5 different.
Going to be an interesting QB draft this year.

Very good possibility. In the meantime, while the Giants have an unmitigated disaster on their hands at wide receiver, it sure looks like the dam is about to break in the middle of their offensive line, if it hasn’t broken already. Poor Joe Schoen… so many problems with the Giants roster and not nearly enough draft picks to fix them all. Feels like he’ll need 3 more Drafts.

Hendon Hooker is my guy! Assuming Schoen let’s Daniel Jones walk, would love to see Hooker in Blue!
This is not shaping up to be a good draft in the first round

Interesting question! I think he could play inside, and do the Giants need help at ILB!!! … but Will Anderson is such a terror on the edge that I would hesitate to move him.

I had no idea Azeez had a younger brother who’s a first round prospect.
CJ Stround looks really good
ATL_Giants : 9/30/2022 11:12 am : link
Don't know what circumstances could lead us to draft him, but wow... that would be special.

I am thinking CB should line up value vs need. I don’t want to force anything.
We may need wr more( actually 2-3 WRs. Also another IOL, ILB
That’s without even talking qb. And realistically, there may be nothing that projects much better than DJ at this point
2023 is another yr of getting building blocks.
A lot of talent is needed
I wish it was way to early for this

but looking at the Giants current roster it's not IMO. IMO as currently constructed the Giants are below average at several positions. So paying attention to who in college could help them next year makes sense to me.

IMO watching Alabama and Ohio State QBs throw against air 95% of the time is worthless when it comes to projecting them into the NFL. Neither of those guys interests me at all. IMO because of injuries and free agency the NFL gets closer and closer to the college game schematically. It's almost as if NFL teams have the same 3/4/5 years to keep players that the colleges do now.

It's getting rare for a player to last more than 5 years with one NFL team except QBs. IMO WRs are going to soon be the new RBs. Easily replaced with a cheaper younger model from the draft class every year.

I have confidence/blind loyalty that the Giants FO will find their QB and WRs in the draft in the next few years. I'm more concerned about the interior of the OL and DL and ILBs. IMO good NFL level players are harder to find in those spots.

It was his choice. I was begging for them to allocate some of the money spent on one of the bona fide freeagent OCs instead of spreading it on a bunch of jags. It couldve been done.
Think the Giants

End up with a pick in the late teens. A guy I’m really liking for us is AT Perry the WR out of Wake Forest. Big, fast, agile for his size, gets off the line and stacks CBs with ease. Does a really good job off putting DBs on their heels.
I'm going to have to watch some Cam Ward

It's stubborn to have Van Dyke up there still. Guy just got benched.

Including Richardson is also kind of misleading imo. This will be his first full year starting and he is VERY raw. He has a lot to gain by staying one more year.
