There are some interesting changes to the order today. Alonso is batting second for instance and Canha's hitting cleanup. Buck's got Alvarez hitting 7th and Nido is catching and batting 9th (as he normally would).

The Mets have a 1 game lead, which is enormous right now. Everything they needed to go right for them did on Wednesday regarding their dramatic win against the Marlins, thank to Mr. Escobar, and thanks to the Nats winning in extra innings against the Braves. Here are the scenarios the Mets need to win the division going into the start of this critical series:
-1 win gives the Mets the tiebreaker; so if the Mets then go on and sweep the Nats for the last series of the regular season, they win the division.
-2 wins means only 1 win is needed against the Nats after this series in order to win the N.L. East.
-A three game sweep in Atlanta would win the division.
-If the Mets get swept by the Braves in Atlanta, then they would need help from the Marlins against the Braves in Miami to win the division.

Thanks Pete. Northeast weather does not agree with me. I prefer the desert. Wednesday night was something else. I was out with a friend and must have caught something. I'll gladly take one for the team if they keep winning, lol. 2 out of 3 would be fantastic, but 1 of 3 gets the Mets out of this series with control of their own destiny w/regards to winning the division. Imagine if they win all three and clinch it in Atlanta? Haha! I just wish the Mets had Marte :-(
Or is something up with Bassitt.
Or is something up with Bassitt.
I think cuz if they need one of the big three to pitch on the last day of the season, that pitcher would be available. deGrom is going on six days rest today and so will Scherzer tomorrow. Bassitt will be pitching on 9 days of rest on Sunday, if I'm not mistaken.
LFGM!
Our last rookie to debut against the Braves (Batu) did well hitting one out in big win---the only one they won in Atlanta when they played there last.

Excited to see Alvarez hit tonight!
Excited to see Alvarez hit tonight!
It's definitely been spoken about at length.

Has been talked about, is that Mets lose the tiebreaker vs Braves of they are swept. Obviously, if that happens, it doesn't much matter bc in that case, the Braves magic number going into the last series of the season would be 1.

Ok, I hadn't remembered.
Great start for Jake, is it me, or does the slider look sharper than it has in his last 2 or 3 starts?

I also prefer to see Nido behind the plate now instead of McCann. Nido does a better job with pitches down in the dirt than McCan't can. Mets are up 9-7 in the season series on the Braves going into tonight. One win is good enough to escape from this series: the Mets will have won the season-series if they do and will still be in first place, although tied. The tie-breaker though would them the edge (10-9) going into the last three games at home against the Turrible Nats.
Hopefully the Mets make that a moot point and take two out of three. The only unacceptable result for this series is if the Mets get swept. I'd rather be the Mets now than I would the Braves at this point. The Mets have their Big 3 going in this series and have Bog Jake available for the final game at Citi Field against the Nats if they need to win it.
Our fans are everywhere. Thanks Rosario! Haha!

Way to show up in a big game, Ace.

Relax - it’s okay to be disappointed that our Ace pitcher gives up back to back HRs is one of the biggest games of the year.
Sure it’s ok to be disappointed.
It’s also ok if you want to say things that make you look like a fool or a troll or both.

If you have to justify it, it's probably because you realize the poor take.
Say what you want but don't expect someone's not gonna find it ridiculous.

God forbid anyone is critical of deGrom. Jesus. You guys need to get a grip.
Don't get bent out of shape because it was silly.
Looking forward to him and Baty joining the big club at some point next year or in 2024.

Giving up back to back HRs in the second inning after a couple of poor starts? Yeah, I think it’s okay to be a bit critical. Sorry it twisted your panties in a bunch.
Can we get back to the game? Or do you want to log these minutes for the next deGrom fan club meeting.
