hamstring tears KT

Hilary : 10/1/2022 5:52 am
There is a lot of frustration (dislike) on this board for last year's # 1 pick. The link indicates that a hamstring tear is not my dog ate my homework. With the technology available to the medical staff a player can't fake this injury. The team knows if the player is injured. Healing takes weeks. It is not day to day.
Toney's problem is not that he does not want to play. It may be
may be his style of play-which is based on rapid acceleration and deceleration and change in direction. It may be that because of his reputation he never fully heals it may be genetic- some people
heal a cut with small scars some form very large scars called keloids. I once heard a sports medicine doctor on Pat Traina web
say the reason the Giants have so many injuries is they sign players with a history of injuries. It will be very unfortunate for the team if Toney is never able to stay healthy but I am rooting for him.

As an aside what worries me is that the new regime used the #2 and #3 picks this year for players who a highly motivated but quite possibly to slight in build for the NFL

It’s obviously early for Robinson but disappointing when you draft a small player with durability concerns a round early and he gets injured during the first few plays of his career.

I’d love to be wrong but really having a hard time picturing him being substantially better than cast off Richie James. Ezeudu is another one that was over drafted and has looked terrible. How does Bredeson beat you out?

Again all early but what if we didn’t have two top 7 picks, would we have managed to draft a second rounder at 15? It’ll be interesting to see how they handle the next draft. “You like a player you go get him” sounds cool only when you’re right more than wrong.

Robinson deserves a bit of a break here, his injury was no different than Thibs's injury, in that a hit by an opponent twisted his knee awkwardly. Let's not confuse a knee injury from brutual contact to a guy who can't stay healthy PERIOD- illness, foot/shoe, hamstring, ankle, illness , hamstring etc...
I think you might be mixing apple, oranges, and pears.
Big Blue Blogger : 10/1/2022 6:59 am : link
Toney is a player with a significant injury history. Robinson is not, nor is he slight of build; he's just short. Flott is skinny as hell, and maybe he should have stayed at LSU another year; but AFAIK, he doesn't have an alarming injury history.

Anyway, I tend to agree with you about Toney. He has done some dumb stuff that raises questions about his focus and professionalism, but there's no real evidence that he is malingering. The injuries are real.

Ezeudu was not overdrafted. He has some technique mistakes that need to be cleaned up. If you watched any of the film breakdowns by Bob Skinner and read Sy'56, the kid has tremendous foot speed and quickness. Run blocking he is fine, but his pass blocking is poor. If you see how he is able to get himself into position on pulls and traps you will see this guy can be special.
Skinner and I believe Sy said the same thing, he is not ready to play but once his technique is cleaned up he will be good.
Neal is suffering similar issues in that his technique is flawed. But he is the best option at RT and good enough to learn as he plays.
Once Ezeudu is ready to play, he will make a huge difference at LG and he can play tackle and center, also.

For me, KT is Kayvon not Toney. We had an LT,now we have a KT-Thibodeaux!

Until Toney gets on the field and stays there, to forget about him as part of the team

That s where I m at as a fan

Lines of Scrimmage : 10/1/2022 8:04 am : link
has not produced. It is not personal it just reality. Hopefully whatever the issue is he can overcome it. Quickly.

We need production out of out of our round 3 picks and later. Our last two SB's had many key personnel in round 3 and later. Tuck, Diehl, RS, Bradshaw, Jacobs, etc. We need that again.

Players like Ezuedu and Flott (and others) need to gain experience and show progress. Next year we need a big jump. Hopefully we end the scholarships if that does not happen.

I believe, though I could be wrong, if you listen to the Giants coaches they call him Thibs. There can be more than one person on the earth with that nickname. It isn’t copyrighted.
is Toney so freakin hard to type?
sb from NYT Forum : 10/1/2022 9:10 am : link
It's three more letters than you typed. And it's not even hard to spell.

I saw this thread title thinking Thibs tore his hamstring.

Jeez Louise so freakin lazy with the thread title.

No one is killing him for this one injury. What about the 6 other injuries last yr? The beats saying he could have came back last yr and decided against it? Showing up and not understanding how cleats work? Didnt he also miss early OTA's because his contract wasnt signed? Something no other rookie has done.

The dude has a book at this point about how to not play football. And none of it is just rookie struggles. It's stuff not seen from any other rookie.

You can form a solid case on the player without making stuff up. Toney signed his rookie contract on June 3rd. 17 other rookies that same year signed later than that day. Fully normal.

Also, there's no need to make an issue of the cleats thing. He had an issue with his shoe at one practice that needed to be fixed. We don't have to drama queen it up.

The dude is an idiot that cant figure shoes. Also I said he didnt practice until he signed which is true. Look it up. You're the one making shit up.
It's okay to be incorrect about something.
Ten Ton Hammer : 10/1/2022 3:49 pm : link
No one's gonna get sent to their room without dinner. You said he missed OTAs to a contract issue, something no rookie has done. It wasn't a contract issue, and it happens pretty regularly.

Agreed 100%. I think he has actually be a plus I the running game; even more so than thd equally pass pro deficient Lemieux. Ezeudu can be coached on pass pro tech ique and recognition. But, he also has shown some talent. I am optimistic for him abd expect this OL to take a huge step forward next year with him at LG.

when he was running around with one shoe, presumably because he couldn't find his size, or he lost his shoes or something.
Lol "breadcrumbs"
Ten Ton Hammer : 10/2/2022 12:10 pm : link
I dont think people on this board realize how 13 year old girl gossippy people become about football players.

No one wants to put their name on any "breadcrumbs". Hate the culture of whispers and gossip around this sport from scouting to regular season. If it was a player you liked or respected, you would complain about "no sources" and "unnamed front office source" type reporting being cowardly nonsense that should be ignored.

People freaking out about Ezeudu after a few games are being silly
Greg from LI : 10/2/2022 12:14 pm : link
He played well at times earlier in the year. He was expected to be a developmental type pick, who has good tools but needs work to learn better technique.
Toney
TyreeHelmet : 10/3/2022 1:14 pm : link
Was a terrible pick. Clearly a reach at the time and he has not been good.

I don't think anyone thinks he is faking an injury. But either you are available or you are not and this guys is rarely ready to play.

A serious waste of a 1st round pick.
