Should we move him to UDFA status?
St. Albans has placed Levis on his list of QBs that can’t ever replace Daniel Jones. The list now includes every college QB...
That sounds promising maybe not. So in a QB starved league I don't think a lot of the teams are really settling on Trubisky types.
Here are the teams I could see potentially drafting a QB --
Seahawks Saints Panthers Stealers Texans Bucs
That actually does not sound promising for a team like the Giants who could win some games against the likes of Panthers and even Bears
Not to mention that looks like a play josh Allen made when he was a rookie in the NFL. I think both learned or will learn very quickly to stop doing stuff like that.
That is not the same as constantly fumbling in the pocket with poor pocket control
Stares down a receiver, short to intermediate passes, just fumbled on a running play
Everything you guys say you don't like about Jones is what Levis does
You keep missing the point that Jones is a 4th year QB.
You all said Jones looked just like this in college too, you all keep saying that's why the Giants should not have drafted him, that all the issues he has with the Giants he had in college too

So what's your point ? You are telling me the answer is keeping D.Jones here but on some type of back up QB deal, but he'll be the starter again next year with more oline talent and receiver talent?
That is just not realistic. For one, why the hell would Jones do that? Either he really is worth the 20 mil a vet starter gets or he is a back up making back up money.
You don't start a back up . Shit Steve Young didn't get as many chances with his first team as DJones and the dude was a stud in college and is in the hall of fame.
Not to mention Levis must have like double the arm Jones has and that little fade he just threw I cannot even remember remember DJones throwing a pass like that.
Not because he is great but because it is very difficult to find franchise quarterbacks.
If it was easy all 32 teams would have great quarterbacks.
If I didn't have a great QB, I would build a massive o line, 2 good TE, big running backs and pound it. Most defenses today are built to stop the pass with 230 lb ilb's.
Run the ball take time off the clock, keep your defense fresh.
I think your comment is fine about age. It does not mean a player can't still grow substantially but it needs to be considered. I understand where you're coming from. O
I was disappointed with that last play. Little small in a very big moment.
You acknowledged that “being younger” is a reason to draft a player early. Define why “being younger” is a reason to draft a player earlier, since apparently increased room for development isn’t one of those reasons.

Longevity.
That has nothing to do with the older player being unable to develop at the same rate as the younger player.
lies in their cap friendly contracts. When you say longevity, that implies that we’re extending them beyond their rookie deals, at what would be more or less a market rate depending on how good they are. I would say that longevity would be pretty far down on the list of reasons when you’d draft a younger player. Certainly less relevant of a reason than their room for growth as a younger player.

Ole Miss is a decent team. Levis absolutely made some big mistakes
and tried to do too much. But if you don’t see the plus qualities in his arm, size and toughness you can’t see. He wins that game for them if not for the penalty at the end when he threw the TD that got reversed.
He should have seen/felt that edge rusher coming and that goes in the evaluation book too.
So let’s see if he stays in the conversation as the season progresses. As I said the Georgia game is his big test...
This team needs a QB and he’s got the arm talent to add a new dimension to the offense rather than just handing off to Barkley or tucking the ball away and running himself .
Levis just played an exact replica of a Jones game
Stares down a receiver, short to intermediate passes, just fumbled on a running play
Everything you guys say you don't like about Jones is what Levis does
This is what I love about BBI. One guy says earlier that Levi’s looks downfield for the big play too much and you follow it up a few minutes later claiming he checks the ball down to the short and intermediate routes too much.
will be a 24 year old rookie next season. It’s definitely a negative that he’s a player that has little development potential.
Joe Burrow was drafted the same age. Kinda ridiculous, anyway.
Super curious how the rest of the season and draft unfolds for these QBs. Rattler was supposed to be a hot commodity last season and fell flat.
If Levis finishes hot, he might find himself a top 5 choice. Remember Josh Allen had pedestrian numbers in college yet still want top ten in a "strong" QB class.
RE: Levis just played an exact replica of a Jones game
a bunch of dumpoffs/screens/short passes, bonehead plays, some nice throws and runs, fumbles to end the game
and he isnt a 20 year old, he is 23
Now you can say he has a bad OL and not many weapons - hey, thats what is said about Jones, too!
It is also said that Jones had the same flaws in college that he has now, meaning Jones was just like Levis when he was in college
You can say ok, we would have another Jones on a rookie contract again. But is that what we want?
If Levis has Jones’ ceiling then he would be a better investment than extending Jones.
The very idea that you can’t see that you are comparing a college QB to a 4th year professional is so obtuse. But this seems to be your calling card in here.

How many times do I say that all of you who dont want Jones anymore have stated over and over that he had the same flaws in college that Levis does
I have compared Levis to Jones' college flaws over and over. Try reading
You still can’t read that posters are saying a college QB can develop
further but a 4th year starter in the NFL is much further down the line and likely won’t or has a much lower chance.
Do you not get this?
Your reading comprehension is still really bad. The point is that Jones was just like Levis in college and according to you guys he hasn't gotten any better. Therefore why would Levis get better if Jones didn't when they have the same issues?
This team needs a QB and he’s got the arm talent to add a new dimension to the offense rather than just handing off to Barkley or tucking the ball away and running himself .
People love to fall in love with a big arm. But an arm without the other necessary qualities of an NFL QB means squat.
And BTW while Jones doesn't have a cannon, he has more than enough arm to make all the necessary throws. Nothing about his arm limits the offense we run. Let's not act like he's Tua.

I really didn't care about Jones until his senior year at Duke. And when I watched him, it was like watching paint dry.
I watch Levis and I see guy with tremendous arm talent, athletic, but he there is still fat in his game that needs to be trimmed.
Why don’t you just save us all a lot of time and just admit you want Jones extended.
Again no reading comprehension skills. We are talking about Levis and how he compares to Jones
So we’re comparing n amateur QB to a 4 year pro? So what is your point that there a no point in drafting Leviis because he very well could be DJones 2.0?
I guess the next obvious conclusion is why not extend Jones then and prove it’s not him ? Or is that reading comprehension challenged .
No, as I have said four times now, I have compared Levis' issues in college to the same issues Jones had. And all of you say Jones never fixed those issues

No, as I have said four times now, I have compared Levis' issues in college to the same issues Jones had. And all of you say Jones never fixed those issues
So because Jones couldn't, Levis can't?
Do you want to find out? Taking a quarterback with the same issues Jones had in college and knowing Jones never got better at those issues? And Levis is 2 years older than Jones was when drafted

Has fumbling been an issue for Levi’s prior to today? I honestly don’t know so I’m asking. Just looking through this thread it just seems like this is the first time you’ve seen Levis and are making all your proclamations based on that. Maybe he’s had dumbing issues before this, I don’t know. Haven’t really locked into him until this season. Just saying your posts seem to be based on absolutely nothing but today, just from reading them

Levis didn't fumble in that game v. Gators nor was there one in the whole game. But don't let a stubborn, clueless ______

But you aren’t strong in your QB evaluations either. Never have been, even before this current ID...

Haha. When you type this...it’s the evidence.
We missed on Josh Allen we can't make that mistake a second time.
If we’re picking 10-14 he might still be there
A couple of darts. I would like to see him continue to work all of his targets...TEs and RBs. He looks downfield so much...
Giants need some volume and optionality for Schoen to make a good decision on the next QB in 2023 draft.

Yeah, Levis has the big play gene for sure. Which isn't surprising. When you have that type of arm, you feel you can get the ball anywhere.

Haha...yes. Levis has some nice skills but a few big mistakes in this game were clear as day.
Let’s see if he can hold up vs Georgia next month...
Complete with making a good play only to have it called back on a penalty.
Uncanny
I love his arm, but there are these patterns where he becomes his own worst enemy.

Jones is not in the same universe as Levis throwing wise.
Kentucky is a very big run first team. I think that needs to be evaluated why.
End zone safety was bad.
I like to see more from a redshirt senior.
JS has go figure it all out and envision him or any QB with the type of players he will put on the Giants and project.
Lot more games to evaluate but this one has to count.

I think sober minds can agree his development is less than ideal.

Levis is not exactly like Jones. Yes, he made untimely mistakes today but he's a much more gifted passer.
If you can't see that, well, you can't see.
If everything is equal - size, arm talent, production, conference, etc - of course you take the younger guy.
But it's not because of the younger guy can develop better. It's because he's younger.
You get the point. Don't play dumber.
You wrote: "It’s definitely a negative that he’s a player that has little development potential"
Clearly suggesting that a 24-year-old is not capable of developing at a rate of someone younger. Which is daft.
Longevity.
That has nothing to do with the older player being unable to develop at the same rate as the younger player.

I'd absolutely take a rookie with "chance of figuring it out" over Jones.
Lol - Overreactions, here?………….. No way.
And Schoen/Daboll already passed on that option once...

Levis didn't fumble in that game v. Gators nor was there one in the whole game. But don't let a stubborn, clueless ______
Top 10 is in the cards.
