Officially the worst night ever: #Giants WR Sterling Shepard was fined $10,609 for coming off the bench after Sam Williams’ hit on Daniel Jones last week. Shepard also was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct, and suffered a season-ending knee injury later in the game.

I like Shep and feel bad his Giants career/probably NFL career is all but over, but he was a dud on Monday before his injury.
Was a big penalty

Well

It was a stupid thing to do. I’m sad for him for his injury but he deserves the fine.
Shep got a pass because his career probably ended

but with his negative plays, he was a bigger liability against Dallas than anyone else.
He costs $4.6 next year

With no savings from being cut so we should see him in another 3 games before he finally retires

Next year is a void year. His deferred bonus is a cap hit but he's gone.
The guy played hard and had some talent

but was the definition of a losing player. He couldn't be counted on to play each week, he took boneheaded penalties like that unsportsman like call, and he never seemed to come up big when it mattered most.

I wish him well in whatever he does, but he is a very replaceable piece of this team.
Yeah, if someone like Toney

came off the bench and got that flag, we wouldn't hear the end of it. I mean, I get that it makes some sense with the players' different histories, but still.

It also didn't end up hurting the Giants too much, since they scored the td four plays later. I guess you could even argue it helped pump up the offense if you wanted to.

Still, it was a boneheaded move for any player.
I know he was injured a lot, but

Shepard gave 100% all the time, never shied away from a block, and was a consistent pass catcher. Had a lot of heart. Feel so badly for the guy.
It was stupid AF

+1
Sure he is replaceable…

So then why haven’t we done that effectively? He went into the last game as our #1 WR.

So yeah it is nice to sit here and trash the guy but we have had WR issues for a while and still do. How many guys can we replace in one year?

The only WR I would keep next season is Robinson. Also stills and slayton just for depth but not as starters. So we need a MINIMUM of two QUALITY starting WRs before next season or we will see this same offense again.
