1. Lasted 46 seconds in real time
2. Justin Fields was plastered on the sideline by Tomon Fox and may have been injured.
3.Was eventually recovered by Dane Belton
they'd outlaw the wild hook and ladder plays. It seems like multiple players always take devastating hits, mostly because half the guys (linemen) involved are not used to carrying the ball.

So tell teams don’t try to win the game?
There was a camera shot of Fields shaking hands with Barkley
if they'd ultimately scored. Certainly looked like some forward laterals in there but hard to tell (especially since I was at the game). A little hard to enjoy in the moment since until the clock strikes zero anything can happen, but it was objectively a fun play to watch.
I believe that this is reviewable and is not something that would have had to been flagged by the refs so if the Bears scored but there was an obvious forward lateral on replay, the score would have been nullified.
I don't think it was a full 46 seconds. Not sure exactly when they'd officially blow it dead since it didn't look like a Bear touched Belton after he recovered it, but it looked more like 43 seconds or so based on the video time. So it's probably not the longest play.
That second lateral was pretty close to being forward. It's not obvious from this angle, but it did look like it landed slightly ahead of its release point. Really close, though.
The hit on Fields (at about 0:15 of the video) was totally legit. He was well in bounds (and not trying to go out) and was hit just as he was throwing the ball back across the field. He also go the ball again later and made another lateral. Not saying that means he wasn't injured, but still.

Didn't seem to be in any distress.

Agreed. I was starting to worry they would free a runner down the sideline, rugby-style, against a tired defense.
Sure to be on every highlight show
Illegal or not, they did a credible job with that play...
Agreed!
