So, is Thibs bullshitting with running a more uptempo offense? I think he is. This goes against every fiber of his being. It will hurt the defense. I think he'll try it in stretches but when the game is on the line or close in the 4th, that is when I need to see if he truly believes in it.

If he is telling the truth and this is what he wants, then maybe, just maybe, he will let go of some of his stubbornness.

We have all killed Randle but I hope it works out for him. I hope there is a way to build him up to either make us a better team and/or trade him. If Randle is going to be running more, then the first thing he needs to do is stop letting people in his head and arguing with the refs. Too many times last year he wouldn't hustle back on D.

Anyway, the first preseason game is tomorrow at 7. I can't wait to see what they look like and the style they will be playing.

One thing of note
blueblood : 10/4/2022 6:52 am : link
he has less vets to lean on as in years past. The front office did not add any aging vet people this offseason and he no longer has Taj, Burks, Noel, Bullock, a broke down Kemba etc etc people like that to lean on.

He HAS to play some of the younger player by default.
This is my biggest Thibs concern

Lakers could send Westbrook and Nunn for Randle/ Fournier/ Rose and Reddish. Would you do that for just one of the Lakers future 1sts unprotected?

I personally probably would. Are the Lakers getting a better package than that this year ?

are digging Deuce

“He’s a pest,” Barrett said after the game. “You saw it out there today.”

“Adds a lot,” Quickley said. “Especially defensively. You can see him getting out in passing lanes, steals. You know he can do that. And he’s added a lot to his game offensively.”

Lin was part of a championship squad during his last NBA season, hoisting the Larry O'Brien Trophy with the Toronto Raptors in 2019. It was nothing, however, compared to the atmosphere between Seventh and Eighth Avenues with Bryant and the Lakers in town.

"It really was a fairy tale. It was magical. I hate to sound super cliché, but after I hit the corner dagger, it was so loud that I had chills, goosebumps, and I had to look down because I thought I was hovering," Lin recalled. That’s how loud and magical it was. I actually thought, am I levitating right now?

I’ve never experienced something like that. I’ve won an NBA championship and I’ve won some big games, but I haven’t experienced an atmosphere like that before or after. That game was just so special."

"38 at the Garden" will provide a look at the cultural impact Lin's seemingly immortal stretch had and continues to have on the Asian-American community. It will be available to stream on HBO Max on Oct. 11.

OP deletes his own threads. There are other observations I could make about that OP but I'll stick to answering the question.

As for "38 at the Garden", I recall a quote from a long-time MSG employee that the electricity in the building before the game hadn't been matched in 20 years; then to deliver 38 . . .

I feel like we hear this from Mitch every offseason and then the games start and he looks the same offensively. Last season I think it was the amount of time he spent on his 3 point shot…

fairness unlike the 3 ball, it did seem like he was showing something new in game 1. He was called for a 3 second violation on the play but he did post up and call for the ball in the post, can't recall him doing that much previously

could truly be a franchise altering A #1 superstar, *if* he stays healthy he's going to be close to unguardable. Nothing against Scoot (easy 1/1 most seasons and a very likely/possible superstar himself) but Victor... I honestly think he's the best prospect since Lebron (or 20 years).

Who says they will? It's preseason games. I don't expect McBride to get minutes and I deeply doubt Reddish will either.

Reddish wasn’t even one of the twelve that I was talking about. I guess Sims and McBride won’t play much until there’s an injury.

Brunson is a good, young PG and he’s a knick. It’s only taken 35 years or so.

Team looks ripped and ready to go. Everyone is in great shape. It’s gonna be a good year.
To me
Semipro Lineman : 10/8/2022 6:34 pm : link
it isn't irrational to be excited about the current team. Yeah, we know it will be a hard battle to get into the playoffs in the East this year but besides that lets look at what we got. A very good (but not perfect) coach who gets them to work hard every night. The best young distributing point guard on the team since Howard Eisley. A strong rotation that should be able to withstand its fair share of injures. And finally, a lot of young talent that will be able to contribute even if they're not the next Klay Thompson or whichever late round draft pick people point at when they complain about missed opportunities in the draft.

End of the day, this is a good team that isn't as likely to self-destruct because it's starting power forward is frowning on the court as some make it to be.
I'll beat this drum continuously
Stu11 : 10/8/2022 7:26 pm : link
This is the most talented group they've put around Randle with an actual potential top 15 PG. I have faith we're not gonna see the overhandling and pouting we saw so much last year. There simply is no reason to put up with it either with the depth of the roster. I'm willing to give him a shot. If it doesn't work then of course he's most likely gone. I'm excited to see what this group can do. The positional improvements Brunson and Hart will bring along with potential youth development definately brings hope that they will improve and surprise people.
