So Whats The Game Plan Against Rodgers and the Packers?

LTIsTheGreatest : 10/3/2022 9:24 am
Dont expect alot of blitzing since Rodgers is so good getting the ball out quickly, especially to the receivers out of the backfield and those quick slants across the middle. Maybe more bumping of the receivers at the line?
Just forfeit

Because the price of victory appears to be 10 injured players. As soon as the Giant player appears to be getting better is immediately injured. We should change the name to the New York Football Day-To-Days. And they’re all Day-To-Day for weeks.

Maybe we can get Toney back for a series before he’s back out. He will have a long successful career on his next team and won’t miss a game. We’re cursed.

Won’t see Philly getting injuries piling up like that.

Get some fish & chips at the laughing halibut.

I think it's what the Pats did to them yesterday

and plays into our strengths pretty well. 30+ rush attempts, short passing. I'm not sure we need all-world QB play to sneak away with a victory, or at least keep it close.

The game hinges on our defense's ability to control the run game and compete in the flats. I can see why the Giants would pick up a guy like Landon Collins who can blitz, but also has the speed and coverage instincts that could be valuable in the first 5 yards against Green Bay's offense.
On paper, the Giants have no business winning this game

That said, that's why they play the games.

The Giants don't match up, and cannot compete with the GB offense.

Ordinarily, you'd say run the ball, control the clock, keep Rodgers off the field. But I think GB D will be geared up to stop Barkley and daring Jones to beat them. (Who wouldn't?)

Maybe Wink can think of something to slow them down, but as with Dallas, eventually GB is going to get their points in numbers the Giants cannot currently generate. 21 would do it, and I think they average more than that per-game.

It seems, given the current roster, Daboll thinks their best chance every week is to keep it close and try and win it near the end. That won't change this week. And when they play better teams they don't match up with, it will be more like:

Try and keep it close. Hope for a miracle at the end.
Aaron Jones
JB_in_DC : 10/3/2022 9:49 am : link
is averaging 6.8 yards per rush. Need a plan to contain him.
This Packers team is no where near as good as previous
PatersonPlank : 10/3/2022 9:51 am : link
Packers teams. They have downgraded the lines and WRs. This is a beatable team if we get healthy

New England entered yesterday with Hoyer at QB and a dismal WR corps... played most of the game with Bailey Zappe at QB. You'd think GB would have sold out against the run, but New England still ran for 167 yards on 33 carries.
Long sustained offensive drives…

Keep Rodgers on the sidelines as long as possible. Control the clock, score TDs not FGs in the red zone. The OL has to earn their $ Sunday by controlling the LOS all day long.
Very good discussion to have defensively, but we also need to

consider QB options. Does Webb start? Is DJ banged up enough that they need to get a QB off the street? If DJ does start, Webb is the back up because I can't see Taylor getting on the field for a few weeks with all the concusion controversy going around. If thats the case, does it make sense to grab another QB as DJ is a bootleg away from being out for an extended time? Is fitzmagic available?
Run Barkley into the ground again
OBJ_AllDay : 10/3/2022 10:05 am : link
Make some third down conversions. Keep Rodgers off the field. Ya never know.
The Packers are not a good team
averagejoe : 10/3/2022 10:21 am : link
Aaron Rodgers is a great QB . Control the ball, score TD's not FG's, and hope Rodgers does not beat you in the end .
To beat the Packers you play Dime and keep the receivers in front
MartyNJ1969 : 10/3/2022 12:14 pm : link
of you...nothing long. Wink will dial up safety blitzes and stunts with linebacker for blitzes..you have to hit Aaron to win this game.

Use Jaylon Smith to spy on Rodgers bootlegs and defend screen pass.

On offense, Run, Run, Run. The Packers are one of the worst Run defense in the league after 4 games. They average give up 145 yards on the ground and their DL does not run laterally well to stop rushers in the student body runs.

Ball control and keeping time of Possession will win this one for Giants.

Packers offense is not good like past seasons
nygiants16 : 10/3/2022 12:20 pm : link
They get the ball out quick, a lot of qhick screens and swing passes, getting Jones in space and using Dillon as their hammer back..

I could see a lot of big nickel, their receivers are young and habe made mistakes..

Defensively they are good but nothing crazy, i expect the offensive gameplan not to change much..

Hopefully Toney and Robinskn can come back and at least give them a threat at wr..

Packers probably win but i expect another close game
You can run the ball on GB
Tim in Eternal Blue : 10/3/2022 4:31 pm : link

So, expect a heavy ground attack.
Run the ball
Jerry in_DC : 10/3/2022 4:41 pm : link
That's one thing we're decent at and they're pretty bad at stopping the run.

I think we need to play a soft D and prevent big plays. Rodgers and the WRs are not on the same page. Make them string long drives together. Blitzing Rodgers is not a good move anyway. We're going to have to live with some dinks and dunks.
Double Lazard...

and maybe even Cobb. Those are the players Rodgers trusts most. I am willing to risk single coverage on Doubs and Watson.

And I will also take my chances that we can limit Tonyan, who is a very underrated TE.

The Green Bay D is going to be a big, big problem. Gary is turning into one of the better edge rushers in the game. And Clark and Smith can bring it, too. And which corners in the NFL aren't better than our receivers?

So, I have no idea how we score 20 points, which I think we will need to have a chance.

Right now, this is a bad match-up.

If Leonard Williams is out again

This one reeks on paper. Picture a heavy does of AJ Dillon and Aaron Jones, similar to what Dallas did to us... except this time they'll have Aaron Rodgers and not Cooper Rush throwing the football, too. Throw in the fact that we likely won't have our quarterback or any capable wide receivers, this one has our first stinker written all over it, IMO.
The plan?
rnargi : 10/3/2022 5:17 pm : link
....PAIN.....

Seriously, dont count out the Giants. They seem resilient and they seem prepared. They'll figure something out.
