Search for WR?

Adirondack GMen : 10/3/2022 9:28 am
So, now we know -for sure -we don’t have a deep threat-! Do we look at OBJ to join Landon as home comers? We need stretch the field. TE still keep to many in the box. We need vertical threats. OBJ should be as fast as Slayton and has hands to hold on to throws.
Thoughts?

the 2 slots can get off the scratch list and onto the field... them + slayton would be better then what we have trotted out each week

The only hope is that Toney and Robinson get healthy and add a dimension.

It's a long shot - no doubt
Beckham is not coming to this shitshow of an offense.

He will go to a team that is a true contender. What do the Giants have to offer? A legit SB contending team? No. Money? No.
dear god

make it stop...

If we get a WR it will be a trade for a younger WR with long term potential (we are building for the future, not this season).

All I was stating is we need a viable deep threat. The signings of Faliciano, Golowski, Jaylon Smith ( and looking at Collins)etc are stop gap players. A decent WR (whomever it is) would help our Qb and RB. I promise not to use the goal post pisser OBJ again..
I doubt his knee will allow him to play

I am sure he'll only be getting a vet minimum contract after the injury but definitely agree that he has 0 interest coming to this team. Plus, he's not even 8 months off the ACL so he probably won't be playing until closer to playoff time.
They for sure should be looking at a stopgap player there

Just so the offense can function. The sooner Sills is off the field the better.

I'd rather Slayton get fulltime burn right now anyway, warts and all..at least defenders need to respect him in coverage and it'll open up other options.

WanDale is going to be a huge part of this offense whenever he gets healthy.
I’d just sign Isaiah Hodgins off of the Bills’ PS

Why not Will Fuller
SteelGiant : 10/3/2022 10:11 am : link
Not sure what he is like these days but he has speed, super injury prone but still under 30 might help us survive this year.
My God Odell
Giants : 10/3/2022 10:13 am : link
People by now everyone who follows football should know Odell has not fully recovered from ACL surgery. Odell is not playing for anyone
If we are going PS
SteelGiant : 10/3/2022 10:14 am : link
I kind of like Braylon Sanders from Miami practice squad

I kind of like this idea talent-wise, but he's another guy that can't stay healthy.
Does anyone has link to Sy’s scout sheet
SteelGiant : 10/3/2022 10:22 am : link
I was curious what he wrote on Braylon sanders if anything
Re OBJ
Joe Beckwith : 10/3/2022 10:23 am : link
Besides $$$ possibly being an issue, his comments ,after SS went down ,about our turf, I think he’s reluctant to come back here.
Plus he may not be cleared to play.
They need
PaulN : 10/3/2022 10:34 am : link
To add a wide reciever or two for certain.
Anikim: The question about Isaiah Hodgins...
Big Blue Blogger : 10/3/2022 11:22 am : link
... is why he's not already here. Maybe Daboll was less high on him than others in the Bills' organization, or maybe his injury history has been a deterrent. I agree that with Golladay hurt/cooked and Sills just plain bad, a big target like Hodgins looks like a need.

In the near term, Marcus Johnson probably offers more as a potential stopgap, especially if the backup QBs have developed some rapport with him. (Though Johnson has had his own medical issues, and Hodgins also has some prior experience catching balls from Davis Webb in Buffalo.)

...
ryanmkeane : 10/3/2022 11:23 am : link
i would stand pat until the 2023 draft. It is loaded with good WR talent that can be had in rounds 1-4.
OB's less than 8 months removed from an ACL
JonC : 10/3/2022 11:24 am : link
this season is probably a wash for him.
I doubt they trade for one
nygiants16 : 10/3/2022 11:26 am : link
if they were a WR away maybe, but i think right now they are just going to wait and see when Toney and Robinson come back..

Toney and Robinson at least give Jones a quick hit guy who can make people miss..

But the nukber 1 type guy wont come until next offseason whether through the draft or free agency/trade
I have been checking out the Packer tweest this morning for kicks
GiantBlue : 10/3/2022 11:27 am : link
and they are also considering OBJ to join the team....but later for the stretch run and playoffs, not week 5.
Sills has go to go
Breeze_94 : 10/3/2022 11:34 am : link
At this point I’m sure there are better options available on other teams practice squads.

He cannot separate, cannot run after the catch, and apparently he can’t really catch either

When that guy didnt make the Bills and was added to their PS, I figured it was only a matter of time before the Giants snagged him. Or really any other team that needed a WR. I really liked what I saw of him in their PS games.

Sills complements these deficiencies with a lack of situational and spatial awareness. He's not the worst WR I've seen in a Giant uniform (that would be Duke Calhoun), but he's close.

What you are missing is that this coaching staff is using him as a blocker coming off of motion and he seems to be doing well in that aspect
