Brian Baldinger on Giants offense

Eric from BBI : Admin : 10/3/2022 9:54 am
Brian Baldinger @BaldyNFL
@Giants @saquon and the running game ran to their 3rd W. The OL and TE’s won the LOS all day; while they almost tried to play modern football w/o wide receivers. Game plan is to win the game.

Bald's closing line is classic.

It was a terrific game plan.

It looks like we have legitimate NFL coaches who can see weakness and exploit it. And that's what occurred against a very dumb, undisciplined team.

Agreed. And it was FUN as hell to watch.
Game plan is to win the game....

a lot of us get caught up in the' lets trade Barkley while he has value' or 'let KG play so we can showcase and trade him' or 'DJ will have some value to a team come December' mindsets. Coaches and players know that the season and your career are like life, too short. So they want to make the most of what they have and win now. Do what you can to score more than the other team. The NFL has promoted the Madden mindset to treat the sport like a video game. Its about the money. I think Daboll and Schoen put together a good staff and are getting the most out of the players they have. I don't expect a win next week, but I am looking forward to watching.
Final words of Brian Baldinger

"Saquon is Saquon."
Want to see why Andrew Thomas is PFFs top rated lineman time stamp 31s
bumpsinthenight : 10/3/2022 10:27 am : link
He blocks two defenders. Thomas is one of the best LTs in the league and is highly underrated

I’m not a fan of PFF just as I’m not a fan of the old QB rating system but you need a measuring stick, even if flawed.

Run vs. safety blitz
MrX : 10/3/2022 10:38 am : link
You could see that blitz coming even on TV. Wonder if E. Jackson had chosen the other hole what would've happened. That was great vision from Saquon
The run blocking has been really solid.
Heisenberg : 10/3/2022 10:41 am : link
The pass protection has been mostly terrible. Giants offense basically playing with one hand tied behind their backs right now.
Pass blocking has been average
Chris L. : 10/3/2022 10:48 am : link
but looks horrible because we have a QB who is more running back than QB. He holds the ball way too long and routinely doesn't see the whole field. Oh and did I mention has no pocket instincts and can never feel pressure.

He's throwing to the worst group of pass-catchers in the league. For Jones' warts, he's been put in a pretty rough spot as far as throwing the football goes.

He took over an offense with very glaring limitations but has done what he can to maximize what they can do well and, with the solid defense, it's been enough.

These are fans that’s wrote off this season before it began and cannot adjust to the idea of trying to win now

Someone posted yesterday, Trade Barkley Now! Can you imagine the message this would send to the players and fan base.

These fans get locked in the present and cannot envision , an offensive line that continues to improve, a receiving core that might have weapons in Toney and Robinson, a pass rush that might continue to improve

All they see are deficiencies and assume they can’t get better.

3-1 is a good beginning to the next era of Great Giants football. Some can’t seem to enjoy it.
He's been hurried, sacked and hit at a top 5 rate
Heisenberg : 10/3/2022 11:01 am : link
despite being bottom 6 in pass attempts. right side of the line especially has struggled in pass protection. I can't imagine that anyone would look at the line and think the pass pro has been ok. They can be bad while DJ is also too slow with reads.

And yes, weakest WRs in the league right now.

How do you define "win now"? They aren't going to be able to grind out low-scoring wins over offensively-challenged all season. Dallas isn't exactly a powerful offense but, when the game was on the line in the second half, they scored repeatedly with ease. Eventually the college game plan isn't going to be enough to win, and the offense will have to find ways to score more.

I've enjoyed watching the wins but am realistic about what those wins represent. Frankly, I'm much more heartened by what I see from the coaching staff than the 3-1 record. I feel confident that Daboll and company will win a lot of games once they have the required talent.

I can't fault them totally because of whats tranpired with this team the last 10 years. The next 4 games are going to be a REALLY tough stretch, with Jax and Sea playing a lot better than almost everyone expected. If we come away with 1 win in the next 4 games I'll be happy.

Remember when you used to vehemently defend Gettleman? Pepperidge Farm does.

I hope he goes to a team with an OL, I wish him luck -Get out of NY Shitty Dan.. ITs going to take at least another 2 yrs before we have rebuilt this pathetic team. Yes its headed in the right direction finally, but still missing way too many pieces. WAY too many

Angry Bob says what? Gettleman made many mistakes yes, he never got the OL right -his biggest fault IMO was adding players the coaches wanted at the time. Parsons for sure Was the biggest mistake -during his regime.. You booed Coughlin too. Coughlin Rules

Coaching obviously plays a major role in what we see on the field from the players.

I remember when we drafted Corey Webster. He looked like a bust until we changed defensive coordinators. He was then used properly, better communication, not as confusing, etc.. it was like we were watching a different guy.
Thankfully,

It's the people who can't understand why it might be a good idea to trade Barkley who are actually locked in the present.
