There were a lot of panic threads on Thomas. People pounding the table for Wirfs. Letting things play out and him getting healthy has proven Thomas was a very solid pick.
Remember all the outrage when the Giants beat WFT in December of 2019?

Andrew Thomas is the highest graded OT in the NFL according to
@PFF
And he's still younger than Seahawks rookie RT Abe Lucas

So much fun to watch
I can honestly say I wasn't too worried about AT other than his wheels. Most tackles take a year or two to develop and just listening to him you can tell he's much more coachable than Flowers ever was.
I don't think there's much question AT has surpassed Wirfs, considering Wirfs is still playing RT. LT is a much more valuable position
Why? We have a ton of cap room starting next year. He isn't going anywhere.
+1
If he’s developed into the best LT in the league we will find the $.

how we will afford him. On Schoen we trust?
He keeps playing like this and they will do whatever it takes to afford him, no worries!
Is JS allowed to sing him early or does the rookie deal have to end or at least be part of the contract if they extend?

The results from Thomas simply were not good his rookie year. With the benefit of more information, turns out he’d been injured early on, played through it, and needed surgery.
On just the results, he looked downright bad. I’m not going to knock anyone who was concerned with his play. Something was big time wrong. Turns out it was his wheel, not his talent.
And then he took shots because he struggled out of the box with a dysfunctional Offense and Coaching staff while he was still developing his pass pro technique.
And then he had some lower body injuries and surgeries to deal with resulting in angst and question marks from fans, including me.
And now in Year 3, he looks to be probably one of the best young Tackles in the entire league and the single best core player on the Giants for this rebuild.
