#Giants DT Dexter Lawrence had eight total pressures yesterday against the Bears.

That's tied for the most ever in a single game by a defender listed over 320 pounds.

and never complains and always does it with a smile. Keep this kid as long as we can!
pretty impressive

I would've figured someone like fat Albert Haynesworth would've gotten this done. Maybe that was before the window of whenever they started measuring this stat?

Either way, it was great to see Big Dex step up with Williams out.
Not disagreeing with the dominant performance

but I would love to see the definition of "pressure".

I have 6 total (2 sacks + 4 pressures/hurries)

"I was NOT the worst GM the Giants ever had!"
Lawrence was drafted in 2109 with the selection acquired as part of the trade that sent Odell Beckham Jr. to the Browns.

A stopped clock shows the right time twice a day.
Even a poor GM will get some picks right.

Even THAT is pretty impressive, especially w/o LW.
Who is he tied with?
DavidinBMNY : 10/3/2022 2:57 pm : link
Jerome Brown? That's a lights out game for Dex.
I still think he is underappreciated here

big hole to fill if we let him walk

Worst in the modern era.

For the record, Matt Millen had a draft where he picked Jeff Backus, Dominic Raiola, and Shaun Rogers. He also drafted Calvin Johnson.
It's not like Jerry Reese didn't create this mess
Chip : 10/3/2022 3:17 pm : link
Sterling is the last of the hold overs. The inability to draft anyone by Reese who could earn a 2nd contract here is how this was created. Gettleman couldn't fix it and the Solder and Golladay signings were awful and tied the hands of the new GM for this season. Hopefully it gets fixed and keeping our drafts picks that earn a 2nd contract stay here.
Last year
Vanzetti : 10/3/2022 3:42 pm : link
When the opponent dropped back to pass, Giants did not have him rush. He played contain and just stood in the middle to prevent the QB from scrambling

The coaching staff last year was bad
Hard to know whether it's scheme
Now Mike in MD : 10/3/2022 4:03 pm : link
or the fact he is finally playing NT. If it's all or msotly because he's finally playing his correct position, that's a real indictment of the previous DCs
Holy crap, 8?
j_rud : 10/3/2022 4:16 pm : link
I knew he had a day but that's ridiculous! Id love to know some details...Fields had 22 attempts but how many designed dropbacks, and how many pass snaps as a rusher did Lawrence have? It's possible we're talking about a 40-50% pressure rate which is just bonkers. Absolutely bonkers.

This is a bit misleading, in particular re. interior DL position, i.e., Lawrence. Obviously, no argument re. Solder/Golladay and most of the dreck DG and JR drafted.

But Linval Joseph was shipped out prematurely, and could say the same about Hankins. And under Gettleman, let's not also ignore the travesty of trading BJ Hill to Bengals for the immortal Billy Price? What a shit show deal that turned out to be, throwing in Price's near career ending stab at our emerging C.
I wonder what the record is
steve in ky : 10/3/2022 5:27 pm : link
For a guy over 320, wearing contacts, under 6’ 3”, left handed, and wearing blue underwear?

Seriously though why are some of these things even “records”?
What makes it even more impressive
montanagiant : 10/3/2022 5:38 pm : link
Is he is doing it without Leonard Williams playing

He was SOOOOOO misused at times. It was a great pick. Maybe DGs only great one.
