Asshole outside of the Hockey rink. The guy has some serious mental issues. He is hassling and cussing a couple of kids over where they are parking and then threatens an adult asking him not to talk to them like that.
My cousin has shown me several videos of Avery at open hockey trying to fight guys for no reason. There are even a couple of him sucker punching other players from behind after the play. There are few former professional athletes as pathetic as Avery.
He posted some bizarre video directed at Bisonette during the playoffs when Biz was critical of the Rangers, basically saying if he came to NY, he'd get shanked, etc. It was over the top.
I liked Avery during his initial playing days with the Rangers because I liked his energy and he was just one of those agitators you liked if he was on your side and hated if you didn't... a-la Marchand.
But, he's gotten much worse and his behavior is indefensible. He needs help.
And maybe this is an unpopular take here but the other people in this video come across just as bad. Some 16 year olds driving BMW's and blocking another person's driveway so they can't get a car past. Avery's reaction is over the top, but at no point does anyone (including the dad) acknowledge that they did anything wrong. Instead they just bait Avery and record it so that they can get use it to get internet famous. Terrible look all around.
I like that when they asked him if he was crazy, his response was

I agree. I came away thinking everyone in that video is an asshole.
and he's always been mentally off. But we hear about high school kids who never played above that level having CTE. Ever since reading about Derek Boogaard and watching the NHL/NFL to this day ignore headhunting and head injuries for the most part I think down the road we will find out that Hockey had/has as much of a CTE problem as football. I still think head injuries in general in all sports are under reported and covered up. Just my opinion. The hit on Tyrod Taylor wasn't a penalty because he was a runner according to the announcers last Sunday? That was a kill shot. If that's still a legal hit the NFL doesn't care one bit about player safety. That needs to be monitored from the booth by an official and a 15 yard penalty plus an automatic ejection. Same player 3 times in one year, you're done for the current season. It's the only way they'll get some of those hits out of the game.

Sure, a QB is an open target if running the football, but that was helmet-to-helmet.
I love watching football. Love the game. So I'm not one to bitch about things related to it, generally, but holy hell, if the league doesn't consider that an illegal hit, then fuck off with your lip service approach to "safety." Go fuck yourselves.
