1st Quarter report card

Daniel Jones B

This would be a B+ if he did not get injured. Daniel Jones has looked more decisive. He is throwing with more velocity and he has converted some drives and 3rd downs, that, are in fact, the reason we have won games. He has done this on one of the most untalented offenses in the NFL.

Daniel Jones is showing improvement.

Barkley A+

Leading the league in yards from scrimmage and is running harder than he ever has. Nuff said.

WRs F

They all suck or don't play. Nuff said.

TE C+

Pleasantly surprised, get us another 1. Would like to see some TEs that can stretch the field when we run power with Barkley.

OL C

This would be a failing grade if we did not have the best young LT in the league, he figured it out and has really long arms. Bookend.

DL A

Sexy Dexy is finally being used in a way that matches his skillset. SY56 deserves real props here. He has been telling us they were using him wrong. Cleary he knew. LW's absence tells us how well he was playing.

LBs C

Some really bad and some really good.

CB C+
Pleasantly surprised.

Safeties A
This is a team strength.

Gano B+
Almost automatic

The Scottish Hammer C
I like his nickname, that's all I got.

Coaching A+

For years I have been begging for a schematic advantage on Sundays. I was a competitive chess player. We were playing one move and our opponents were looking 3 moves ahead, we had no chance. People that play chess like that, I can beat blindfolded from another room. The tempo was always in our opponents favor and we reacted to what they did. We are completely different on offense and defense now. We dictate. The coaching is by far the biggest improvement on this team. If Kafka had a healthy Toney and Robinson all year you have to believe there would have been a couple more momentum changing plays and more points.

I think this team beats Green Bay across the pond. At 4-1 we might have to rethink some things.

Too aggressive, Drop the OL to a D+ even with giving AT an A+ the average for all 5 is bad. TE drop to C maybe C-.
Barring more injuries

We will get better as the season progresses.
It's weird docking a player points

It's been every year. I like Jones but Giants fans were spoiled with Eli. It's understandable.

Docking The QBs and WRs for getting hurt is fine, but…

… in that case you should probably dock the DL too. LW’s absence against Dallas was an important factor in the team’s only loss. I agree that Lawrence has been fantastic in an expanded role.

The edge players - especially Ward - have been much better than the ILBs. Crowder still has a lot to prove after one good game. The other spot has mostly been a hole. Maybe together, McFadden and Smith can fill it.

RB isn’t quite a A+ yet. Although Barkley’s pass-blocking has improved, it’s far from a strength and the best way to neutralize him in the passing game is still to send an extra rusher right at him. He has 15 catches for 107 yards, including that jaw-dropping improv for a first down against the Bears. Not bad, but the team needs even more from him, even if it means shifting some of his ground workload to Breida and Brightwell.

Tough grader. Giants are leading the league in rushing. OL run blocking has been pretty good. D+ seems kind of harsh.

Way higher than B for the receivers he has had.
