NY Post:Unheralded Giants TEs making up for lackluster WR’s

Modzelewski : 10/5/2022 9:21 am
“It’s old-school ball: Put our hand in the dirt and let’s get some yards,” Bellinger said. “That’s how we feel.”

“The irony is that only Myarick has the reputation of a block-first tight end. But Hudson has the second-highest run-blocking grade among tight ends, according to Pro Football Focus. Myarick, who doubles as a fullback, is ranked No. 9, and Bellinger, a fourth-round pick, is tops among rookies.”

Giants TE’s Producing Unexpected Numbers for Offense - ( New Window )
It worked for a half versus the Bears

until they smartened up a bit, and then injured the QBs. It's not likely sustainable versus better football teams that are coming up the next two weeks.
It was some very nice adjustments

that some have been calling for. I hope the staff puts this in the hip pocket even when/if the WR's come back.

Hopefully they finding some new wrinkles from some of the same looks this week.

Well, hopefully Slayton can catch the ball bc he should be able to get open over the top

Brought up from the practice squad. A tall body to throw the ball to in the red zone or 3rd and short.

Agree. The game plan was run the ball run the ball run the ball and use our TE's for blocking and limited receiving. Unlikely they'll use that same game plan for Green Bay unless they have absolutely no confidence in their WR's and pass blocking.
Another Example of Why Coaching Matters,

Reminds me somewhat of Mike Pope's work with Kevin Boss and Jake Ballard, unheralded players who became important parts of the offense.

It was kind of bad job of coaching getting DJ blown up. The Giants should have been running counters to the TE sneaking out ot the flats (which is itself usually a counter).
SM- do you have ANY clue?

They ran this play a crap load of times, with a ton of success. The play where Jones for hurt, was about the only time they played it correctly.
