There's probably a maximum number of "C" gameday patches that the Giants are exceeding with the amount of captains they named.
I don't know if they rotate the "C" patches through the nominal captains on the roster each game, or if the same guys have worn the "C" every game this season, but essentially, a handful of the Giants' captains are unofficial on gameday.

As mentioned above already they have a bunch of captains and they rotate through who wears the "C" on game days. IIRC Daboll mentioned he likes to get all 3 phases (Defense, Offense, Specials) involved.

I’ve 4 guys on D with the Captains patch (Lawrence, Williams, McKinney, and Love).
On offense I’ve only seen the Captains patch on Jones and Thomas.
On special teams I’ve seen Can Brown and Kreiter wear them.
indicates that Barkley and Gano do not wear patches on their jerseys. That's not exactly a definitive source, and it provides no explanation, but take it for what it is.
RE: Not to derail the thread but why does he wear eye black
Only under one eye? I’m sure it some fashion thing or statement of some sort but I haven’t seen anything about it and was curious if anyone knew why.
The eye black worn under one eye by Barkley is a metaphorical [i]black eye[i/i] given to him by BBI when they (bbi’ers) were certain Barkley lacked toughness, did not know how to play running back, and hurdled too much just to show off.

Interesting. Certainly proven by the pics Joey shared.

I'm pretty sure this is it.
