Even under the best of circumstances, screens are an issue for a defensive playcaller as aggressive as Martindale. With McKinney out, and the ongoing turnover at linebacker, it's not surprising that the Giants got burned a lot today.
There is one thing I do question is the unwillingness to let Jones throw in the 4th quarter when we have a lead. I certainly understand our limitations but we are just settling for 3 and outs. If Jones has demonstrated one thing, it’s the ability to not make stupid mistakes
to throw the ball is unsustainable. I know Houston has the worst run defense in the league and we probably have the worst WRs and TEs, but Kafka telegraphed every first down play as a run to Barkley. On several occasions, Barkley ran the ball four or five times in a row. Sure, Golladay dropped an easy pass and should be benched, but Kafka rarely made any attempt to move the ball down field through the air. What's even more puzzling is that there were no designed runs with Jones. And we did we try to score at the end of the half with so little time left and so far to go, even for a FG?
Thought the defense played well, especially Lawrence, Williams, and Jackson. Thibs is being held, but I agree he's not going to get those calls until he gets some sacks. And that won't happen until he gets stronger IMO.
Another nice game by DJ, Barkley, and the Defense.
Just getting the job done. And very nice strategic work in the game planning by the coaching staff with the heavy formations, and keeping their run game from killing us.

Against a team like Philly or Dallas that can score, I'd go more aggressive. Against the Texans I think this makes sense.
Amazing reading some of these comments after a 7-2 start and never trailing a team they should beat AFTER A BYE. We lead the whole game after a bye and the mouth breathers of the internet are out in force.
RE: RE: Did anybody just see the end of the Bills -Vikings game?
Play is under review right now .... but that was batshit crazy.
If it stands - Buffalo handed them the win.
Almost as bad as the Picarcik fumble in the 70's.
Holy Sh It stands. Bills has time to get a field to tie
They just did ... Vikings blew it though. They should have called a TO (did they have any left?). That diving catch on the sideline was not a catch - IMO.
Jesus we were up more than a FG and two scores for majority of the gam

I certainly support leaning on the run but it seems a little overkill. But stating that we are 7-2 so they have earned the benefit of the doubt

It was a very conservative game plan today. Run the ball, stop the run and don’t turn it over. It has worked all year as our margin for error is extremely razor thin, but it’ll come back to haunt us against teams with better offenses like Dallas, Philly and Vikes. 8 more games of which 5 are Division games too.

Good thing is, they can lose those three games and still make the playoffs. Sweeping Washington is going to be key.
Why be antagonistic? You are a good poster but you predict a loss every week. You predicted this team to win 3-4 wins. You said this would be a 3-4 YEAR rebuild. Yet, the Giants are 7-2.
You thought there was a good chance we'd go 0-4 the next 4 so...
Three things:
(1) Here are my exact words:
2-2 in the next four games will be an amazing feat. 1-3 would hardly be shocking. And 0-4 I'm afraid is attainable.
(2) Compared with the fantasy statements this week by some BBIers about the resurrection of Kenny Golladay against Houston, my statement above isn’t so bad.
(3) And I said before the game that Kenny Golladay would do nothing today… several times.
I guess that makes me 1-for-2, batting .500! (:-) LOL

Maybe they will change the gameplan for those types of games? We'll find out soon.
but Kafka last 2 games haven been very underwhelming.
Even if you want to run heavy , you still need to do a better job mixing it up and throwing more in the air to give the defense something other then Barkley to focus on. It especially doesn't make sense when Jones was having a good game and they were moving the ball well in the air and Kafka just refused to go back to it in the 4th Q.
On top of that, even if you are scared to throw , why not mix it up and have Jones run more to again give the defense something to think about .
They made this game too close and had to rely on turnovers by the defense and a long FG by Gano to win because Kafka was coaching this game scared with no creativity

Not sure how you called Golladay. Carnac the Magnificent

Would be nice if they had practice going for the kill against one of the worst teams in football instead of waiting till they play a great team
If it stands - Buffalo handed them the win.
Almost as bad as the Picarcik fumble in the 70's.
But 7-2 sure has a nice ring to it.
Holy Sh. TD
Holy SH TD stand

Giants came away with a win.
Put it in the bank.
7-2.
The re-build is still in it’s very early stages.

my bad - still some time left.
They won by 8
Held them to 16 points, multiple turnovers and multiple sacks. What exactly do you want? How is that not a success?

I just do not know what to think of him.
But one thing is for certain, Golladay will likely never get on the field in a uniform again.

We essentially dominated that game.

153.3 Rating today. But I agree, Kafka is just protecting the ball.

He's the best play caller they've had here since 2017.
We may end up 9-8 at the end, but there's virtually no chance we won't finish with a winning record. That's cool.

a good game. He gets very conservative. Then he calls silly things like Wan'Dale's handoff when Barkley and Breida are tearing them up left and right.

If that was meant as a compliment, it really isn't. But it is entirely possible that this is all the Daboll wants him to do.

Exactly, unsexiest 7-2 ever is good with me. Best start since 2008.
