The false start was likely when Daboll just said fuck it we are going to run all day. They weren’t crisp enough to throw the ball around. But when they needed to Jones delivered.

+1

I think he was overcompensating as a result of the Jaguars game. Daboll's gonna need to have some words with him about that.

They won the game by 8, playing pretty sloppy and giving up some plays on D that they haven’t done all year. We’ll take it!
7-2 with all our injuries is a great record

a win is a win, I don't care if it doesn't looks pretty.

They are playing Parcells smash mouth football. Run the ball, control the clock, don't make mistakes/penalties.

This is the offense this year. It’s how they’re going to win games.

They have clearly not used plays in the last 2 games that were a big part of the offense in the first part of the season. The offense is way more vanilla than it was before

It makes sense that they are keeping those plays under wraps again until Dallas and Philly

If you’re talking Jones running, teams have seen those plays already. They’re not hiding them if they’re already on tape, Dallas isn’t just going to forget about them.

I think he over-corrected after accidentally going out of bounds and almost being the goat a couple weeks ago

On second down, no doubt he should have put his shoulder down into the defenders and fought for the first down

4 ints in last two weeks and one to lose the game. Some on this board would want him replaced with an unproven college kid. It’s just brutal. Before I hear DJ is no Josh Allen (well he is not). But he also doesn’t turn it over like Josh this year neither.

God this is so annoying.

Let us know when Jones has a game as good as Allen’s best games.

I'm sure Dan Marino had many great games but did he win a SB?
So let’s don't compare QBs. Its timing and as long as you play better than the other QB in the game

So then we can stop with posts and threads any time a top end QB has a bad game?

That will end the moment you stop posting every time DJ makes a single mistake. You are expecting perfection and the moment there is one bad pass or he does not see an open WR, you guys immediately jump on it with a comment. If you continue to expect perfection from our QB (no matter who it is), you will just continue to be a miserable fan. None of these QBs are perfect and there are only about 5 humans on the planet who are elite. Get used to not having one of those on this team. We actually never had one but somehow managed to have 4 superbowl championships without one of the top QBs in the league.

Let’s just say this Jones is a top end Qb. Also Josh has never had the Bills at any point in his career 7-2. Last I knew it was about winning games and not inflated stats with talent around him that is 10x better than what DJ has.

So then we can stop with posts and threads any time a top end QB has a bad game?

It was a very conservative game plan today. Run the ball, stop the run and don’t turn it over. It has worked all year as our margin for error is extremely razor thin, but it’ll come back to haunt us against teams with better offenses like Dallas, Philly and Vikes. 8 more games of which 5 are Division games too.

Maybe they will change the gameplan for those types of games? We'll find out soon.

Just for the record, the Eagles only beat the Texans 29-17 and were only up 21-17 after three quarters.

Not sure how long most of you have been Giants fans, but this is the way the Giants have historically won. Close games, winning TOP, running the ball, not taking chances. Relying on the D. It's not sexy, and it's nerve wracking, but it's sure better than 2-7.

There are few teams we will play this year who have less talented skill position players. With the lack of talent at receiver and TE, and with lots of injuries to key people on both O and D, what they have accomplished is fantastic.

Golladay dropped one pass, the first one was a bad throw

Detroit has a lot of offense and not much defense

Charles Davis said something interesting near the end of the game - he said Mills told him that the biggest adjustment for a college QB is reading the defense POST snap because the NFL hides things on defense and tries to fool you while colleges never do. Davis then said so being able to process fast post snap is the key

I liked that comment by Davis. On a sidenote, I enjoyed Davis and Birdbrain's call for today's game. Davis is one of my favorites in particular.

He does weird plays at strange times. That Robinson handoff was just awful and then him running backwards was he topper. Barkley and Breida were moving the ball. They did not need Robinson. Maybe on a jet sweep or misdirection ok. But just a regular run, cost them 6 yards...Giants cannot afford to give up yards.

That is a ridiculous comment. Allen has a lot more leeway because of what he has accomplished and how much of the offense they put on him (all of it).

to throw the ball is unsustainable. I know Houston has the worst run defense in the league and we probably have the worst WRs and TEs, but Kafka telegraphed every first down play as a run to Barkley. On several occasions, Barkley ran the ball four or five times in a row. Sure, Golladay dropped an easy pass and should be benched, but Kafka rarely made any attempt to move the ball down field through the air. What's even more puzzling is that there were no designed runs with Jones. And we did we try to score at the end of the half with so little time left and so far to go, even for a FG?

Thought the defense played well, especially Lawrence, Williams, and Jackson. Thibs is being held, but I agree he's not going to get those calls until he gets some sacks. And that won't happen until he gets stronger IMO.

You answered your own question - HOU sucks against the run and we have very few weapons. When they did throw to the WR’s, Golladay dropped two first downs, including one that would have gone for 20+ yards.

We didn't throw a single pass in the 4th quarter. It worked today, but likely won't against an even marginally better team.

Yeah, so against a different team we'd have thrown in the 4th quarter.

The issue I had was NOT throwing in the occasional naked boot.

In a couple of these games, those plays were pivotal in not only moving the chains, but to keep the defense off balance.

We had multiple opportunities when the Texans were clearly selling out to stop Jones. We helped them by running the play they thought we would run.

They had nobody sitting back to defend against a Jones keeper. I really cannot believe Kafka did not see that, so I do not know why he did not call that play.

The game threads are abominations of stupidity

If you expect fans to be posting reasoned, thoughtful analysis during the heat of the game, that’s on you for not understanding what those are.

It is very difficult to come to this site after a win or a loss anymore. Too many people who put their fandom/criticism of individual players ahead of what the team does. The sensible posts about the game and the team are hard to find through all the “We won inspite of Jones” and “Jones is elite despite what you see” posts.

At the end of Eli’s career I remember thinking how nice it would be to stop having every discussion point run through the lease of “what does this say about Eli.” It has only gotten worse with Jones.

About KG today. The biggest surprise isn't the lack of stats it was the fact that he blatantly dropped two passes, both of which stopped drives in their tracks!

Here is my question, do we see Golladay get released after that pathetic performance? I know if it were me I would cut him no matter what I needed to do to make it work..

You know why we can’t release him this year. Just inactive him every week. We don’t need him at all.

They should have IR'ed him. Could have opened a spot

100% agree….I guess they were still hoping the old KennyG would surface. Well, today showed you that ain’t happening.

#Giants WR Kenny Golladay said he still feels like he’s the dominant player he was in Detroit.

Asked what he’d say to fans who want to know why he’s not performing: “I don’t say nothing to them.”

Which matches his play...
It’s tough IR Golladay

Once Sheppard went down. Would love to know what happened to him, right now it looks like he’s not interested in football anymore.
they need to get bredia/brightwell more carries

cant wait to see this new OL in a few weeks

i still think there should be a taylor RPO package.

but for WR - enough of KG/MJ/Sills - move on.

Time to give hodgkins, foster, cager chances at wr #3-5. Cager could be that WR/TE combo. maybe even pimpleton.
