Hi all,
My cousin Art Giorgio, who posted here as STLGiants, passed away on Nov. 1 after suffering a serious coronary two weeks before, immediately following the Giants win over the Ravens. Art said to the surgeon before going under surgery with very grim odds: "Well, at least the Giants won."
Art was like a brother to me, and when his own father died when Art was 12, my father stepped in, and our Giant's season tix instilled the fandom that carried on even when he was long gone from NJ.
I just wanted to check in, I know Art valued his relationships here and often sent me thoughts from his dialogue with the community.

I find that so touching...He must have been a die-hard (No pun intended) I wish I had the opportunity to know him. When my time comes, I know one of my last thoughts will be about this team of our that holds such a special place in my heart.
Pat Hanlon should be made aware of this
God Bless.
I remember that!
Related how?
I thought of a story I should relate. At the old Giants Stadium we had season tix (sec 321, row 16, seats 3 and 4) and Art and I went on occasion. In the early 80s we went to a Broncos game. About four rows ahead of us there were four Bronco fans in full regalia, and partying loudly. It was the Broncos day, and during one key moment, maybe a pick 6 or punt return TD, they went nuts and, unfortunately, a big beer (remember the green cups?) went flying, nailing Giant fans all around.
It wouldn't have taken much given the score, but that was plenty, and one of those brawls broke out that, in 40 years of season tix, I had only seen in distant sections, usually, of course, Eagles or Jets games.
There were maybe five active Giant fans and the four Broncos going at it, with other fans scooting away. As you know, those brawls can be dangerous as hell, with serious tumbles down the stands common.
As everyone, including me, was backing away, Art, who was a powerful guy, maybe 260lbs at that time, an outstanding high school linebacker, was the only one going toward the brawl. Art was a gentle giant, a true Christian who lived the life, and I never saw him annoyed never mind angry. He waded in there, picked up two Giant fans by the scruff of the neck and basically scattered the scrum like bowling pins.... but all the time with a calm dialogue saying "ok guys, enough, settle down, security is going to be here, everyone chill..."
Just like that, it was over. Security came and, of course, removed the Broncos fans, but the Giants fans all were good, which was important because they would have risked losing their season tix.
As fans were going back and forth with security, one security guy pointed at Art, and applause erupted all around "no, no, he broke it up!"
That was Art. Gentle Giant. Best parental figure you could imagine....in fact, he is my son's godfather. Well, was.......still can't believe he's gone...
