NFL Linebacker Blake Martinez is ending his football playing career to start a new venture in selling rare Pokemon cards. He sold one rare Pokemon card in near-perfect condition for $672,000, more than double his current Raider's contract salary. |

Pikachu illustrator special edition card.
Yeah, this is a fun story but sort of BS. If he's making that kind of money on one card, couldn't he (worst case) pay somebody to handle his business for 6 months? He likely was already eying retirement.

The books ive read written by players or coaches in the NFL, when those guys get to describing what a normal week is like for them dealing with the multiple injuries each one has (but willingly play through) im surprised anyone would put thier bodies through that punishment if there were other avenues available to them to make the same amount of money.
He does buy card boxes in bulk. He might have bought it off someone or legit found it himself.
Pokemon was big when Martinez was a kid.
