Lemieux took all the 1st Team Reps at LG

mittenedman : 11/18/2022 5:57 pm
Beats reporting - although someone mentioned Gates took some reps.

This is a nice upgrade. Say what you will about Lemieux - he's a beast in the run game. When Neal gets back, buckle your chin strap. Plus Gates wham blocking the sh#t out of people from the TE spot.

As the temperature falls, the effectiveness of the run game is about to go up.
That beast in the run game has played about 10 games
NYGgolfer : 11/18/2022 6:03 pm : link
in his entire career. And I think about 1 in the last 20 months.

Hope he plays well though.
Yeah, I'm not expecting
Gman11 : 11/18/2022 6:06 pm : link
big things from Lemieux. He's coming off injury. He wasn't really good in pass blocking to begin with.

As Parcells would say, let's not put a gold jacket on him just yet.
Where was it reported
Brandon Walsh : 11/18/2022 6:14 pm : link
He took “ALL” the first team reps ?

Duggan just said good chance he starts.

Big difference

since the reporters are not allowed to watch practice other than the warm ups, I'm not sure this info is correct.

Lemieux may start, but the reporters were not there.

#Giants will activate LG Shane Lemieux from IR by Saturday’s 4 pm deadline and plan is for him to start Sunday’s game against the Lions, per sources.
Lemieux is making his season debut after missing the first nine games following surgery to repair serious toe injury in preseason.
Even if true, probably not a good idea
BlackLight : 11/18/2022 6:34 pm : link
Guy's been out awhile. He needs to work his way back in. And other guys in the rotation need to get some of those snaps too.

The legend of Shane Lemieux...
As I said in the other thread
Matt M. : 11/18/2022 6:37 pm : link
unless Ezeudu is ruled out, I would hope he will continue to start. Now, Lemieux at RB is another story.
I bet it is because of Ezuda's neck.
BigBlueNH : 11/18/2022 6:42 pm : link
I don't think they'd be making this move if JE were healthy. He's been playing well and who knows what Lemieux will look like after the long layoff.

Wait, are they the same? Thought AJ was legit…
I don't understand
KJBBQ : 11/18/2022 7:18 pm : link
Why people don't understand this. Lemieux was the first string LG all spring and summer. There is a reason for that. The staff thought he gave them the best chance. Nothing has changed. Ezeudu has shown signs of promise. Especially in the run game but he needs time to fix his pass protection.

I get that us fans haven't seen Lemieux in a while and we all think he is exactly like he was as a rookie. But players develop. All reports out of the last two camps were that he fixed his pass pro. Let's hope he has.

If the news that Gates is getting reps with the ones is true it's the bigger story. If true I'd look for a rotation at center pretty soon. If Gates could get back to pre-injury firm that would be huge.

It’s one of those odd BBI narratives that doesn’t match reality. Lemieux is clearly seen as the starter and has overall been a good player when he’s in there. People act like he blows every pass rep. It’s crazy.

The Giants are a running team. They use play action a lot when they throw. Lemieux can be a good starter in this scheme.
They can also go right back to
UConn4523 : 11/18/2022 8:18 pm : link
Ezeudu if needed. it’s not like he’s being cut for Lemieux. This is really exciting because the floor is we have better depth, the ceiling is a better starter (and depth).
Next yr interior oline could be
Payasdaddy : 11/18/2022 9:42 pm : link
SL,josh E and Gates
Combined with neal and Thomas, could be real solid
The fact that we finally have enough depth
gersh : 11/18/2022 9:56 pm : link
To have three players who are decent at LG is a big improvement. (The coaching definitely has helped)

Exactly. Easy E may not be able to go.
Gates can also play guard
kelly : 11/19/2022 7:19 am : link
Also jack Anderson. So we may see a rotation at that position
The interior OL is interesting moving forward
gersh : 11/19/2022 8:27 am : link
6 guys who can start but none who are clearly good starters.
I guess as stated above, the hope is
- Ezeudu develops
- Gates returns to form
- Lemieux improves

I also assume we get one or tow new guys in the draft. There was the other OL from UNC who got hurt also - returning

The floor of the OL is way up. Now we need to work on the ceiling.
Or what UConn said
gersh : 11/19/2022 10:19 am : link
Just saw that
Couldn’t agree more
The coaching staff REALLY liked
Dave on the UWS : 11/19/2022 11:16 am : link
McKethan, the other UNC guard as a potential RG solution. (he's on IR for the year). Lemieux was looked at as the starter for this season. Ezeudu was drafted to eventually start. Daboll loves Gates, and if he returns to pre injury form, he's the center for next year. The draft will add more competition. The offensive line is going to continue to improve until its one of the best in the league.

Did you steal my post from the other Lemieux thread? :) Great minds, lol

I think the Giants will add one more offensive lineman in the draft next year but it wouldn't surprise me if they don't take a single one. The tackles are set with Thomas and Neal plus the Giants have solid depth now with Phillips and Peart plus Gates can play tackle also. If Lemieux finishes the season strong then the Giants have that position settled allowing Ezeudu and McKethan to compete with Glowinski at RG. Gates could return to the starting spot in the middle with Bredeson providing solid depth.
Daboll hasn’t given a single guy a pass
csb : 11/19/2022 7:18 pm : link
From the previous regime. He’s made everyone earn their spot in the starting lineup and the roster in general. It doesn’t matter if he’s starting because Ezudu is hurt or if the coaches think he’s the better player, I’ll defer to their judgement because they have earned some credibility. Hope SL has a good game this week; I can’t think of the last time we had a position battle on the OL where both players are better then serviceable.
Lemieux understandably looks terrible
Jint Fan in Buc Land : 11/20/2022 2:37 pm : link
which you’d expect since he’s played like 1 game in 3 years and honestly was a borderline talent before the injury. I’m obviously grouchy bc we’re down two scores at home to a bad team but this is still a stupid thread.
This guy was dogshit 2 years ago.
j_rud : 11/20/2022 2:40 pm : link
Dogshit last year. Dogshit this year. I'm sure he'll be better next season though.

Another example of mittenedman's cluelessness that he'll never walk back.

Do it anywayz Frenchieeeeee!
Lemieux has not shown me
5BowlsSoon : 11/21/2022 1:45 pm : link
We can pencil him in and then all can relax. I think we saw yesterday, there will be no relaxing with him pass blocking. And I can’t say he is any better than Ezeudu as a run blocker.
I don't get all the love for Shane
kelly : 11/21/2022 1:49 pm : link
I haven't seen where his on field performance has been good. Ok at pulling but his pass blocking is atrocious.
I can't imagine what Bobby Johnson
Bill in UT : 11/21/2022 2:32 pm : link
saw in practice. Did he only line up against Ellis?
