This team looks stupid on defense and even worse on offense. I'm jealous of the ball movement and movement without the ball on offense that the Warriors play.
Randle said he was fighting through not feeling well, he must have caught what Barrett has. He probably had to break a sweat tonight in order to get going.
Also losing Robinson has really hurt their D and rebounding
It's unbelievable how JV our offense is. Thibs is here for defense and we look like straight trash on D tonight and really this year. This is reminding me of the Giants how we have seen this for years but everyone takes it as normal bitching. The Knicks need to find their Daboll.
Disgusting performance by both. I don’t know who I blame more. I guess I give RJ more of a pass because he’s not well, but he was fucking dreadful tonight. He should’ve asked to be benched because he was a total liability out there.
And I don’t give a fuck if we beat the Jazz and Nuggets. I want Thibs out of here. Same with Leon Rose.
When do we move past this bullshit narrative that Mitchell isn’t a Knick because Grimes was supposedly untouchable? It’s not true. It was never true. So why are we still repeating every single freakin game thread? Why?
Worked really late last night didnt watch the game
just saw the box score, by the looks of it no one had a good game shooting wise..
When Brunson is ineffecient you know its a bad night..
Rj: 40 minutes? 19 shots? was it a lot of forced shots? were they good shots?
Long road trip you are now 2-1, i expected 0-5 to be honest, get 1 of these next 2 and then you got 3 days off until a little homestand starting with Portland.
Hartenstein was basically useless last night. Brunson was taking bad shots. Randle was good and bad. RJ kept forcing shots. I had to hear Wally say that RJ is great at finishing around the basket. No he isn't.
Let's talk about Barrett. He has gotten bigger but I think it is making him worse. We have seen a lot of progress every year in the league but he looks so bad right now and it is more than just him potential being sick. He has gotten bigger and stronger, yet he still sucks at going to the basket. He doesn't adjust. When he goes he is hellbent to do it his way and he gets blocked so often or takes bad shots. He's not adaptable enough to adjust to how big men attack him. He needs to develop a mid range game.
Now lets look at defense. He has gotten progressively worse. Remember when he used to guard the opposing 1? He can't stay in front of anybody anymore. He, imo, needs to lose weight and work on his quickness instead of trying to get stronger to finish around the basket. Thibs is not the coach for this. I don't have to look any further than Quickley. Thibs' philosophy is to just keep shooting. He doesn't seem to stress shot selelction. He doesn't seem to stress doing other things to help the team. Just keep shooting. I think RJ would really benefit from an offensive coach.
.i have said this for years now, we need an offense with movement. The amount of open looks GS had last night was incredible. They don't just force up 3s because that is how the NBA is now. They move without the ball. They dribble and penetrate to break down the D. It is a beautiful thing to watch. Our offensive system is ridiculous. I can't even say archaic because old tike basketball looked like GS last night. We are stuck in the early 2000s. And Thibs is here for defense. We suck at defense. We are running around like chickens with no heads. I mean how many times are we going to leave Curry or Thompson to help out? You don't leave Curry. It is like we have no idea what we are doing. If this was a one game problem then fine. These nights happen. However, we've been seeing this for way too long.
This game was never close. There were times we were down around 11-13 points. There was a point in the 4th when we got it within 10 but, to me, GS was basically getting bored out there. Every time it got back down to around 10, GS just hit the gas again and bounced the lead up to around 16-21 points. We were clearly outmatched all game and a lot of it was coaching to me. Yes, the players didn't have it last night but nothing was being done about it on offense. But defense should be consistent every night. We are consistently bad.
It's unbelievable how JV our offense is. Thibs is here for defense and we look like straight trash on D tonight and really this year. This is reminding me of the Giants how we have seen this for years but everyone takes it as normal bitching. The Knicks need to find their Daboll.
Thibs has plenty of faults and probably has run his course here, but what offense was he supposed to run last night?
This is a mediocre roster at best without a legit number 1 offensive option. Barrett is not any good and takes a ton of shots. It’s not easy building a good nba offense around that.
Last night Barrett, IQ, and Toppin couldn’t buy a basket. How is that on the coach? People can make all the excuses they want for him but bottom line is that Barrett is playing like a complete bust. He’s not even playing to a quality nba starter level.
At this point I hope they they just fire Thibs to eliminate that excuse and start putting the blame on the horrendous front office that has no clue how to build a good nba team.
It felt like GS was toying with them all night. It's one game on a tough west coast trip but it showed all the deficiencies we have talked about.
3 pt defense is horrible and when a team moves the ball on them they don't play fundamental man help defense.
On offense I have never seen a team dribble as much as the Knicks in the half court, they take turns dribble around the paint waiting for double teams or turning it over. That is not what a dribble penetration offense looks like.
I don't mind the forced drives to the rim because it kept them in the game and going to the line and it was the obvious gameplan since GS fouls the most in the league.
Randle did it early well but stopped and started shooting stupid 3s the whole team couldn't hit a shot to save themselves. A Grimes or Fournier might have helped tonight to knock down these open 3's.
Well on to PHX....another players only meeting at Applebee's
RE: RE: This Knicks roster is seriously held back by Thibs imo.

It's not about last night. It's the offense he has run since he got here. Forget last night. This offense is pathetic. There is not scheming. It's just let Brunson figure something out or give it to Randle to figure it out.
this isnt anything new, you can hate the roster all you want there is talent being under utilized because Tjibs has his stubborn way of doing things and doesnt change unless forced..
Like using Obi and Randle together which has worked everytime he has used it yet he doesnt do it every game..
Still play defende like its 20 years ago defending the paint at all costs and giving up wide open 3s consistently..
He doesnt adjust to what hr is seeing in game, why is Rj playing so many minutes? Quentin Grimes is just rotting on the bench while Rj chucks the Knicks out of games..
I generally agree with the criticisms of his coaching although I think people overestimate the abilities of OBi.
But last night obi and quick got too many minutes. They were awful. Bronson didn’t have a good game neither did Barrett. Their defense in particular was atrocious. A lot of the wide open threes by Golden State or just a lack of hustle on the Nicks part.
The one bright spot was the continued good play of Sims. The kid was all over the place. Really plays hard. Doesn’t take plays off
Knicks missed their first 10 three-pointers and left Golden State shooters wide-open. They fell behind by 22 and just don’t have the fire power to make up that deficit
At the end of the first half they were six for eight on three-pointers and got back in the game but then Golden State was able to send them off. Nick’s also did not get the roll at least half a dozen drives to the basket. Partly bad luck, partly tired legs
If Wiseman ever gets healthy and comes back they will be the odds-on favorite to come out of the west again this year
Also they are like 8-1 at home....we needed our A Game to beat them...we didn't have it last night.
I still think we can get to 3-2 on this West Coast Swing..
37 makes a great point,we really are a team void of an all star....Randle is the closest thing to it we got....for all the bellyaching I hear about Obi getting minutes,he was useless last night...and I am one of those bellyaching about it....
They better get right quick
He's been awful the last few games. He's clearly not right and you can tell he's laboring out there. Thibs is going to ride him into the ground.
Brunson is 2-9 while Quickley and Toppin are a combined 0-9. RJ is 5-16.
BTW, RJ has played 7 more minutes than any other Knick
And that was probably their best quarter.
And I don’t give a fuck if we beat the Jazz and Nuggets. I want Thibs out of here. Same with Leon Rose.
100% 2-1 on this trip is much better than I expected.
Next 2 are tough games
When do we move past this bullshit narrative that Mitchell isn’t a Knick because Grimes was supposedly untouchable? It’s not true. It was never true. So why are we still repeating every single freakin game thread? Why?

even 2-3 is succesful to me
Phoenix and OKC on a back-to-back. Gonna be tough winning either.

Curry, Clay and Wiggins is a hard trio to guard.

I was thinking about this I don't think there is a player on the Knicks that would get substantial minutes on GS.
