I'm talking strictly this season, not 2023 and beyond. Considering replacement possibilities (Taylor, Breida, ???), whose loss to injury would hurt most?
With Jones you have Taylor as first man up, but given his injury history, you also have to consider that it could mean Webb as well at some point.
With Barkley you have Breida as first man up, and I like him a lot, but he's another one with a poor track record of staying healthy and the drop off to Brightwell is quite significant.
With Thomas it's "who knows?" when it comes to first man up. Neal could move to left tackle, but given his struggles at right tackle, I'd rather he stick where he is. A surprise possibility is Ezeudu, who played some left tackle at NC. Gates is another possibility.

Based mostly on the importance of the position rather than anything else. Thomas is the best player of the three by a good margin. While Tyrod Taylor is a much better back up than we had last year, when DJ went down last year we went from a middling team that with some better defense would have been 500, to a total crap show that could not beat the little sisters of the poor. Similarly when Thomas went down last year both Jones and Barkley got much worse (esp. Jones). Barkley has been great, but it is just a fact that RB is the easiest position to replace on the offense.

Something like this.
Andrew Thomas is the best player on the team, but at least they have some decent depth on the offensive line. The Chargers and Cowboys have survived long stretches without their top-tier OLTs. As a run-first offense, the Giants could do the same, at least for a while. They have absolutely nothing behind Lawrence. Same is true of Leonard Williams, actually.
So in order of who’s loss would hurt the most, Barkley first, Thomas second, Jones third
Taylor is one of the better backups in the league in my opinion. His thing however is keeping himself healthy.
The answer is Thomas, Barkley (big gap) Jones.
Clearly this. Aside from no touchdowns, TT has shown he can do it all. In his 2 drives (and 3 pass attempts) he’s thrown the ball to our team, the other team, and to the turf. He scrambled a few times leading to a fumble (no turnover) and an injury.
Now that’s the kind of quality play that would have led our offensively talent-deficient team beyond our pathetic 7-2 record.
So imma say Daniel Jones.
Thomas
Barkley
I can't imagine any QB comes in and plays as consistently as DJ. Matter of fact, Taylor threw an INT on his first series and got hurt the second.
Losing Thomas effects both DJ and Barkley. Less ypc and more sacks
Losing Barkley would suck but I think RB is a position where you have the best chance of someone stepping up and playing almost as well.
The Eagles lose would hurt the most
Thomas
Barkley
Breida has done OK, and could suffice in a pinch in a system where there's an actual passing game. That isn't the case here, so no Barkley is going to be painful.
IF TT has anything left, he can be a game manager. Jones is doing a good job there, but don't mistake W's meaning Jones is the one making it happen. Jones is being a good game manager. Lose the star of the OL, and I don't think he looks anywhere near as good.
2 of the 3 are stars. The other is a good game manager.
This is correct. Heck, we lost Jones last year and, IIRC, there was no drop in performance when the backups came in.
RB is a highly fungible piece. He is likely the best RB in the league right now, but the difference between RBs is small. I think the Giants could quickly find someone to grow into an average NFL QB and do it cheaper than what Jones will cost so would put him and Barkley in the same area. There are decisions to be made on both.
Barkley
Huge gap
Jones
Thomas is a great player at an important position. Barkley is a great player at a typically unimportant position. But in the case of this team we have so little talent around those 2 that our RB is foundational to what we do.
Jones last on that group obviously. The other two are among the best players at their positions. Jones is well below average at his. We run the most simplified, dumbed down offense in the NFL for a QB. We don't pass and when we do it's among the shortest in the league and very often outside the pocket. The coaches have done a remarkable job in designing this O such that any QB with just basic NFL skills can be fine in it.
The Falcons are doing something similar - they pass very little, but they do throw it deep. Those 2 offensive staffs are doing truly amazing jobs this year.
