whats the logic here? are they afraid they will use up his elevations?
we are going into the game with only 3 S. why not activate another?
this seems dumb to me. its a free spot. activate someone at least to play specials. activate thompson(the other PS S) its a free gameday spot.
Nick McCloud has been playing safety in addition to CB. So they have a 4th guy.
Collins is more of a LB/S hybrid at this point and practices with the linebackers.
We actually may not see much of Collins if the Giants bring back Tony Jefferson soon.

No. I understand the Collins interest from fans but this is the second straight game without an elevation. Maybe he gets back in the mix, but it’s trending in the wrong direction
Guys like Collins are stop gaps. I doubt they actually sign him to the active roster
Can't see him being out there against Detroit with their passing game.

it a free body on gameday...whats the harm...worst case you get an injury you have a body. like i get he might not play, but why not use teh spot i dont get it. i understand if it hurt the cap or did something to hurt you but it doesnt hurt you.
Collins gets the NFLs special nym172 exemption where he doesn’t count against the number of players allowed to be active on game day or count against the salary cap.

Huh? If they elevate him again they have to sign him to the active roster. If he's not in your immediate GameDay plan, then it actually doesn't make sense to elevate. Save it for when you need it, because the next time you do he's signed and you take up a roster spot and pay him.
There’s going to be some bruised bodies against Detroit and having a fresh body down low will spread responsibilities.

you only have 3 S active, you might need him lol
yeah a PS elevation doesn't count as a roster spot.....you can play with up to 48 players on gameday, 46 roster and 2 PS members....the giants are willingly playing with a max of 47. i dont understand why they wouldnt want the extra body active. teh PS evelations are not counted towards a cap space. this is

There is no such thing as a free body, both in terms of roster spots and salary cap. So you lost me right there.

we are willingly playing with one less player.....they could have easily activated pimpleton to get him a chance to return snaps, this makes no sense. use all the gameday actives you have. i dont understand why they arent. this was a perfect week to give pimpeleton a chance if you dont want to elevate collins.
We are not playing with one less player - the team now has a full 53 man roster. Activating Collins, Pimpleton, or anyone else would require a roster move.
You also stated that the Giants have been playing shorthanded. That's not true. Even when the roster was down to 51 or 52 players, and several of those were sitting out due to injury, the team dressed 48, meeting the requirement of at least eight offensive lineman to qualify for the 48th "free" shirt. (They may have dressed 47 for one game; not sure about that.) If they were to elevate Collins - or Anderson or Butler or Pimpleton - they would need to "healthy-scratch" an additional roster player.
The only two known injury scratches are Bellinger and Neal. Add a healthy WR (Sills?), a healthy LB (Calitro), a healthy EDGE (Roche?), and an offensive lineman (Anderson or possibly Ezeudu), and you have the right numbers: 53 active + 1 elevation - 6 inactive = 48. Who else do you sideline to give Landon Collins a few snaps as a marginal upgrade over another ILB?
If there had been another elevation this week, I'm pretty sure the position under discussion would have been DL. That's where the roster is thin. We have plenty of ILBs on the roster. The problem is quality, not quantity. If the staff considered Landon Collins a solution to that problem, he would be active.
Safety is a whole different story. If anyone gets elevated to bolster that part of the depth chart, it will be Trenton Thompson or Terrell Burgess. LC's days at safety are behind him.
