I believe JPP had 16 sacks as a rookie.

I don't know the right answer.

I actually thought that at first but that wasn’t until year 2.
C is definitely Toomer

His rookie year all he did was return punts I think.

He didn’t break out to hear 4. One has to wonder in the current NFL if he would still be on the same team after year 3.

From my recollections (now that I've jogged my memory) JPP was the top backup for Tuck and Umenyiora in 2010. Didn't play a whole lot until the end of the season due to injury (had that recurring back problem).

Could have put Eli's rookie season as a guess as well.

Strahan is a mystery to me. For anyone who can remember 1993, what position was Strahan playing since the Giants were running a 3-4 before switching to a 4-3 the next year? Rushbacker behind LT? 3-4 DE behind Hammer Hamilton?
The title says draft pick BUSTS

We’re going being literal or serious? Or facetious? If you were serious I’ll say player A = Lorenzo Carter and player B is Joe Montgomery ?

If you were looking to make a point it could be strahan and then Tiki. I know tiki had a rough 98 season due to injury. 99 he really started to find his way, especially as a pass receiver out of the backfield.
My recollection: As a rookie, Strahan played RDE. Things took off when

He was switched to LDE.
Dayne.....Wilson....

R. Thompson......then, that poor kid db who was in the car accident, then brown the bust TE.

It is Stratham and Tiiki. Seeing all of the Thibs expectation posts got me curious to look back on how a few of the Giant greats faired at the start of their career. Players really used to get more time to develop or at least the expectations were different.

With todays expectations this board would have been calling Strahan, tiki and Toomer busts after their rookie year. Simms would probably not had his 5th year option picked up either.

Strahan took a bit to develop because he only played one season of high school football (he lived in Germany before that as his father was in the army) and played I-AA football.

Looking up the history, Strahan was moved to LDE in 1996 to account for the actual biggest draft bust Cedric Jones.

He also turned down a 10 million, 5 year contract offer for the Giants. That would have been quite the bargain.
Strahan angered by move to LDE - ( New Window )

JPP
Bill in UT : 11/20/2022 9:58 am : link
JPP was a rookie under Tom Coughlin, who some believe did not play rookies all that much. In fact, he had 0 starts his rookie year and ended up with 4.5 sacks. He started 16 games his second season and had 16.5 sacks. He slid back to 6.5 sacks in year 3, with 15 starts. I don't remember what the circumstances surrounding that drop off were. 6 starts, 2 sacks year 4, must have been injured, then a bounce back to 12.5 sacks, followed by falling into the precipice.

For any one confused. This is the list that matches the stats—Giants greats from another era that did not light it on fire right away.
