Is a reunion near? Free agent WR Odell Beckham Jr. will make an official visit with the New York Giants after Thanksgiving.
The real question is if all things will be equal. I do not see the Giants signing OBJ to contract longer than just the rest of this season. There is no way Joe is going to toss money and years into a WR coming off an ACL at his age with his injury history.
The Cowboys are more likely to do something that ill advised. So if the Cowboys outbid in that matter he will be a Cowboy.
But there is a chance that no team is going to offer OBJ anything more than a rental price for the rest of this season. In this case, OBJ would be looking for a team that will give him a chance to showcase him the most coming off an injury and allow him to show his abilities to rest of the league for a contract after the season is over.
In this case I think the Giants are the ideal place for him. A place that places him in a starting role with a ton of opportunity, allows him to be the media darling, and play the role of the Big Fish that saved New York. Even if he fails in NY he will be adding marketing value in the big city. Going to Dallas he will unnecessarily become a villain.
Part of me also thinks this might simply come down to whoever wins the Thanksgiving Game is also the team that wins Odell's services.

I think the Cowboys' entire interest is Jerry Jones alone. I don't think his son or Will McClay would be interested. So it depends on how bad Jones wants him.
The smart move for the Giants is to give Odell a two-year deal, limited money this year, substantial money next year with payment next year conditional on health.

No evidence that he's "grown up." Caused problems in Cleveland only a year ago.
Why I do not want him here. Trying to build a culture and I am not sure he would fit into it.
OBJ was a bit of a diva for sure. But he gave max effort on the field, and by and large, his teammates loved him. So I'm not sure why he wouldn't fit the Giants' "culture".
Regarding the dog peeing incident, it was in poor taste. Yet there was a very specific reason why he (and Sterling Shepard) acted like "dogs" when they scored a TD that game. (If you don't know why, I won't be sharing that info, as I do not want to get banned.)
If he can still play and the contract isn't too big, I would love it if the Giants re-signed OBJ.

Not trying to sound like a wise ass here, but maybe we should trust the culture architects with that decision. It's just strange to me that someone would take anything other than a "let's wait and see" approach. Loving or hating it at this stage screams thinkijg with the heart and not the head.
New regime comes in here and proceeds to match our best record in the past 15 years but people don't want to trust them to handle a free agent visit. I don't get it.
I see Dak Prescott in many more national adds that I see any Giants player. If you are talking about local mattress stores and car dealerships, possibly. But they have those in the Dallas metroplex as well.
OBJ’s days of being a face of the league are long over. He’s a human interest story now. Being in NY will not increase his marketability over a team like Dallas that probably has a larger national fan base.
be his best offer, and I know money talks with Free Agents, regardless of sentimentality. I could see him going to Dallas, but would hate to see him in that uniform. I’m just wondering if he can still be a productive receiver after two ACL tears and age creeping in. He may no longer have the burst he used to that separated him from all other receivers and so I can see him as a contributor, but not in the same, take the top of the defense way. He can still catch, but will not have the explosion he needs to be that guy IMO. With that said, it would be a nice story for him to come back and close out his career on a winning note, helping this team in the playoffs.
On one hand he would certainly help the offense. I believe that he would be on his best behavior as it would be his last chance being in the spotlight hoping to set up a life after football.
On the other hand I don't want to pay him a sizeable contract next season.
We were all here when Odell was a Giant, but not the current coaches
even entertaining adding OBJ. He has already had to justify dumping a #1 draft pick WR due to "attitude", and now has to restructure/bla bla for another headcase (he won't come free of charge). How do they work him out, trust his tape until week 16-17 and make their decision then. Is adding one WR really going to make a difference in the passing attack with 2-3 weeks left. Really a big mistake here.
middle of the road WR next year. Middle of road is probably his ceiling at this point.
I'm guessing his name far exceeds his ability going forward. His name is a star, while his ability is lunch pail. The big question is whether his ego matches the name, or whether he's more realistic about his situation.
In an ideal world, he still has something left, and he'll sign a reasonable 2 or 3 year deal. Minimum this year, a few mil the next year, or 2. If he wants to get paid, put in a non guaranteed roster bonus, or incentives. In our WR starved situation, he can make a splash, and can be relevant, meaning good endorsement potential.
Just say no to any expensive star deal. Make him earn his pay day.
the contract structure will be really interesting but im all for it. FA WR next offseason suck. As long as he comes back from acl OBJ is better than probably anyone we talked about adding at the deadline and no draft pick (plus no comp pick canceled out).
i assume they are going to guarantee him 15-20m for next year but it's probably worth it. assuming they have to give him a min deal this year, they can give him a 10m roster bonus and 10m guaranteed base salary next year, then either with real years or void years make it longer so they convert salary to signing bonus if they choose and make his cap # next year more reasonable (say like 13m).
was he in LA? Did he he not help them win a SB? The assumption that OBJ hasn't matured, especially since his injuries and rehab is just that, an assumption. Schoen and Daboll have been in contact, apparently, and I'll trust their assessment. Also, I think part of the equation will be where Giants are after Dallas in terms of have a real shot at the division.
It has to be a 2 year deal at minimum to make the money work, I am not afraid to bet on next year if it's cost effective. Sometimes you have to roll the dice and take a gamble, he was always a strong route runner which is better than straight line speed and keeps WRs playing past their physical prime.
It was always approximated that OBJ would not be full-go until December so the timing is consistent. I tend to analyze things through psychological scientific reasoning, especially now with my beloved New York Football Giants since 64 at 6 yrs of age. So considering the men involved I construct as evidentiary:
1. OBJ is a fervent worker when it comes to his body,
conditioning, athletic health, and commitment to success.
Only when he is absolutely certain that he can
successfully complete the demands of a WR tryout for an
NFL team would he take on the challenge.
OBJ's drive to win burns within his core essence.
2. GM Joe Sheon, HC Brian Daboll, and staff will diligently,
analytically, and athletically access OBJ's performance
before determining an invite to join the team.
GM Joe Sheon and HC Brian Daboll have established a
culture based on hard work, dedication, commitment,
and intelligence, to the team. If they didn't feel
confident in OBJ as a person and teammate a tryout would
not be extended.
3. When Saquon was coming out in the NFL draft 2017 OBJ
envisioned the possibility of playing together. There is
a special bond between them and Sterling Shepard. The
possibility of winning a championship will galvanize the
team with inspired confidence in the home stretch to the
playoffs.
OBJ has matured, now a family man and father, we won't
see the volatile antics of the past.
With Saquon a team Captain, and a young roster on an
ascending juggernaut, OBJ may be the final piece on the
most improbable run of our franchise's glorious legacy.
OBJ was happiest being a Giant, so much so that he had it
tattooed on his back. If he's physically ready to impress
GM Joe Sheon, HC Brian Daboll, and accumulated staff what
a what a Christmas and New Year we may have.
The Giants Patriarch stated "Once a Giant always a Giant"
imagine the impact of a championship after the recent
darkness most of us has withstood.
On a personal note this season has been so rewarding and a blessing to me. My nephew Christopher Ryan Correa favorite Giants were OBJ, Saquon, Strahan, and LT as his facebook page would attest. He was murdered on September 18, 2022 in El Paso, Texas the loves of his life were his son Christopher John Correa (CJ) and our New York Football Giants from birth. I can't help but correlate our teams success with Our Lord and Savior Yeshua Adonai (Jesus Christ) blessing, mercy, and grace as my brother Martin and family navigate our grief and sorrow with our beloved Giants success. I envision Chris next to Wellington Mara drinking his Miller High Life, a tradition started by my Dad Martin Alonso (who we laid to rest March 2, 2022) handed down grandfather to son to Grandson.
Due diligence- it’s only been 9 months on what’s usually a 2 year injury recovery. But they need playmakers at WR and he started here. Maybe not that he’s got the ring he’d want to finish here and get that 2nd ring .

Or this could be Schoen’s version of Storage wars- keep upping the bid so he can drop a big Duce on Jerry’s lap! Yeeeep!
He might be waiting for after Thanksgiving to make a decision, to see who wins in the Turkey Day matchup with the 'Girls. The winner would have the inside track to the playoffs. The OBJ haters here might have to cheer for a Giants loss, to increase the chances he doesn't come here!

You think people are going to root for a Giants loss to the Cowboys because they so hate OBJ? What goes on in your head, man? I was glad when he was traded, indifferent to a return. They shouldn't offer big money for a 30 year old cripple.

The best overall offer wins.
Tryout is important.
And he is going that deal???
Yep. Vet min.

If next year is fairly big money, why not?

Odell may be special to us, but I doubt he'll receive
any special consideration by the current Giants organization.
I think that is good. If we sign Odell, it will probably be a very unbiased decision.
Guess you didn’t pay attention to his time in LA.
Probably. We better lock down the kicking nets too.

Why would he do that? The Modern Man filters his evidence to support the position, he doesnt form the position based on the evidence. Where you been?

Maybe we should defer to the folks actually on the inside who are building that culture?
