Some news on the Saquon Barkley negotiations as per Ryan Dunleavy (@rydunleavy)

"Extension talks between Saquon Barkley and Giants were encouraging. The Reason a deal never got close was bye-week time crunch more than because terms on multiple exchanged offers were far apart."

Wasn't there a post this week about the RB franchise number

Being less than was previously expected? I wonder if this is more of a change in someone's tone in response to such news? Because I feel like this is different than what we previously heard.

No reason for either side to agree on a deal until the season ends.

It would be different if Barkley was really unhappy about the situation but so far there is no indication of that.

Both sides should want contract done as soon as possible

Barkley should want to sign while healthy

Giants maybe get small discount as Barkley knows injury between now and end of season could cost him a lot of money

Far a part can mean anything anyway

It can means years, AAV, guarantees, etc. The fact that they are talking and communication seemingly positive is a good thing. Neither side seems dug in, which would indicate they were far apart (whatever it actually means).

either barkley or jones under contract before the end of the season so that the Giants have the flexability to use the tag for the other if they deem vital

Barkley to the Bills for a third. RB's are a dime a dozen.

Giants hold the leverage at the moment.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Seems like the byway could be a perfect time to get a contract done since you don’t have the destraction of preparing for a game
