He hit a ton of his third down conversions and also had short fields after the turn overs. Lastly, they ran the ball fairly effectively today with over 150 yards.
was absolutely destroying Lemieux, and to some extent Feliciano. Aside from Thomas, the OL is journeymen and an unproven rookie. Jones was running for his life most of the time.
Teams know that the way to beat the Giants is to simply stack the LOS to stop Barkley. They know we basically have next to nothing in the passing game, and now don't even have that given Robinson's injury.
On defense, McFadden was poor IMO, and our LBs can't cover anyone. We were consistently burned on underneath passes, especially on third and long. Even though the Lions have a good OL, Goff had way too much time to throw.
This was obvious before the season even started and yet the Giants have still won 7 games while only losing 3. I honestly don't get it.
Run for 50and pass for 340+ with this shit? Maybe Allen or Jackson. That’s it.
You left out a key stat there. Not blaming Jones for this loss, but he did throw two picks right?
He threw 2 picks...one on an amazing play by a stud defender and the other was air mailed on 4th down.
He was the only guy that showed up on offense. I'll give Breida honorable mention
You think the int to Hutchinson was an amazing play??
I mean. Dj threw it right to him. Hutchinson dropped in coverage and DJ threw it to him. Nothing amazing about that.
Lions executed the formula- stop Barkley and make the passing game beat you. Expect Dallas to do the same.
Giants now need to adjust.
This is basically how Dallas beat us last time. They laid out the blueprint pretty early.
Disagree completely on both points.
Giants ran for 167 yards against Dallas, the most the Cowpokes allowed the first 7 weeks of the season. They lost that game because they couldn’t pass protect AT ALL and didn’t use Barkley more.
Today, the Giants run blocking was atrocious. The Lions weren’t even loading up. The Giants just couldn’t make one on one blocks. Jones was actually pretty good outside of the picks… I know, I know. A real “Aside from that, how was the play Mrs. Lincoln” situation.
Yeah and Dallas ran for nearly 200 on us and didn't turn the ball over. I think they laid it out pretty clear in that game.
From out here in the bleachers (Hawaii),
I had 6 wins as my pick at the beginning of the season.
So they are playing with house money.
I've been a Jones doubter, but he does have talent.
Just not much around him, and the D that looked good this point really looked bad today against a bottom dweller team.
Injuries: that's the nature of the sport. What team doesn't have a revolving door of short term and long term injuries?
Some talent and good coaching builds depth. It is what made NE teams so good for so long.
Keep Jones, let Dabol coach,
and wait until 2024.
He hit a ton of his third down conversions and also had short fields after the turn overs. Lastly, they ran the ball fairly effectively today with over 150 yards.
Speaking of 3rd down....
Do we HAVE to blitz on seemingly every third down? Seems to be hurting us more than helping
Feliciano, Glowinski are backups. Guys you don't want to start but expect them to be able to come in and replace starters for a few games w/o being a serious downgrade.
Run for 50and pass for 340+ with this shit? Maybe Allen or Jackson. That’s it.

Did he show up though? 145 of those passing yards came after the second pick when the game was out of reach and the Lions were in a shell. He was just as bad as the line, Barkley and defense
because the Lions have the worst run defense in the league. Barkley didn't even show. From the first snap of the game, he was checked out. You have to do better against the worst run defense in the league. Run offense was the main culprit today. At least Jones and the passing game showed signs of life. Barkley and the run offense were dead from Snap 1.
Less than 30 for less than 4ypc. Lost the turnover battle.
All three loses have the same blueprint.
They had a chance to overcome the offensive issues but this was the worst D effort of the year.
Regroup. Hopefully Neal makes it back.
The amount Williams and Lawrence have been playing maybe caught up today a bit. Detroit has a good OL and have been investing in it. They are a pretty good team imv.

RE: Fox showed a stat early, that the red zone defense was 2nd in the NFL
Has been really good at protecting the ball this year. But eventually he's going to turn it over. Everyone does. It's impossible not to. Plus the one on 4th down doesn't matter.
The problem is that we have to run a hyper conservative offense because of him. You can win some games that way as we've seen, but its very difficult to sustain and severely caps our upside.

That is no where near as annoying as your jones love affair along with many on this site who can find no fault with him.
This is not a franch QB or even a good QB. He picked up some first downs and he ran a bit today. He gives 110% . But that is where it ends. He cannot keep up in a shootout or come back or even earn the trust of his coach to take a game over and pass . when was the last time we had a game where he threw for like 300 yards, won , and had like 2-3 TDs? QBs do that . Even ones like Mat Ryan who get benched.
Embarrassed at home by shit Detroit and now to add to the shortest major injuries to key guys
Robinson man second rounder is looking like a huge wasted second rounder dudes been hurt more than healthy and now his season over….
Hmmm.....shit Detroit just won four games in a row and they are playing just as good as Washington. We have have won many close games with sound football. Today was bad but let's give Detroit some credit. They are a young team with a lot of playmakers. They beat us us fair and square just like Seattle did. We all know we are not a very talented team and now it has caught up to us. Rest of the season will be hard to watch with all our injuries. Seattle and Detroit took Barkley away and that's the blueprint. Expect the worst and hope for the best on Thursday

Lol, why the attack? Jones was bad today. It’s ok to say it.
with his bum shoulder. Very often, RBs can't repeat that effort the next week. Breida was more effective. When he got more time later in the game, the offense was more effective.
We open it up in the passing game, Jones throws 2 picks
with his bum shoulder. Very often, RBs can't repeat that effort the next week. Breida was more effective. When he got more time later in the game, the offense was more effective.
It makes you wonder what Breida is doing here if the coaching staff isn't going to spell Barkley with him. I think thats a legit criticism of kafka and dabbs.
RE: We open it up in the passing game, Jones throws 2 picks
I don't think that's a coincidence and that's why the passing game has been conservative to date.
Oh for fucks sake. He didn't see the dropping DE on the first one and was his first pick in forever. His 2nd one was on a 4th down prayer trying to make something happen. You guys need your eyes checked if you think he's some bum.

If we lose next week I get it, but this Lions teams is pretty good and we lost like 6 starters MID game. Good luck winning

He forced something on 4th down.
So he threw a pick when our OC got called out and another on 4th down must make. No worries
What I care about is that they could not rely on the passing offense.
