It is no secret that all three phases of the team fell on their faces today. Every facet of special teams too.. coverage, kicking and punting.
When you step back from specific plays or individual players... we got man-handled in the trenches. We will lose every game if that continues.
Offense - the OL was just horrible. Could not run block to save their lives and the Lions continuously moved Jones off of his spot and forced him to pass on the run. The OL continuously put us in 3rd and long because we could not gain more than 1.5 yards per rush.
Our initial drive when we scored the TD, we called some plays for Jones to use his legs. Then, for some reason we went away from that for the next two quarters and the offense struggled.
I was watching away from the ball a lot and too often the WRs were either not open or the routes were just not QB friendly. Meaning, too long to develop or an impossible throw would be needed.
Defense - This defense has been a problem for a few games but their stink has been masked by a couple of fortunate turnovers.
We have a tough time stopping the opponent if we do not get a turnover. We allow far too many 3rd down completions either due to the opponent executing or penalties. We cannot get off of the field.
Jones did not have a good day really because of the two INT's. Yes his yards were obviously higher than normal, but we cannot have two turnovers from him and expect to win. It was Rodgers like today.
I did not have the benefit of your replays at home, but was able to see more of the field vs what you can see on TV.
This team is not as good as their record. Dallas is mopping up the Vikings right now. We are going to have a very difficult task beating the Cowboys on the road, on a short week, on prime time, with all of these injuries... and against their defensive line.
Injuries are adding up on both sides of the ball.

I appreciate the wins and beating the beatable teams. Last week, the Texans QB was throwing some good ,20-30 yard passes against the Wink blitz machine. In the end,the Texans were too sloppy but any air attack team will beat us unless we can learn to score. Once the run gets shut down, and plenty of teams have shut down Barkley then what? Jones can run very well, but if there is no WR Corp well then you can stuff the line

Didn't a bunch of guys start coming back from IR? Before this game the giants were getting healthy and just had a bye week. Barkley wasnt injured and had 1.5 yds a carry.
I saw one guy show his true colors dumping on Jones while not saying one word about Saquon going 15 for 22 yards.
Yes, the OL, ST, defense, one particular play by Jones stunk.

+1
Have you not been watching any of the games this year?

I don't think I was dumping on Jones. I had to mention the 2 INT's, but we did not lose this game because of Jones. He also carried the team a bit with his legs and did make some nice throws.
Dexter still was able to make a few nice plays today to his credit.
Eric, it really goes back to my initial comment about being beaten in the trenches. Running the ball, stopping the run and getting to the QB. With all of the pass plays that Detroit ran, we really did not get to Goff. Having the injuries that you correctly point out on the back end, we absolutely must be stronger up front.
It's too much to overcome at this point. Thanksgiving in Dallas is a tall order from the looks of things now. Starting to feel like Giants-Cowboys in Dallas in '92 when the NYG lost 30-3 (which incidentally is the score now in Minnesota in the Cowboys-Vikes game).
We were undermanned at full strength, now it's damn near an impossible task

I am watching what the Dallas D line is doing to Cousins right now. He is getting killed.
I agree, but you should also factor in Injuries.

".....This team is not as good as their record." They are not. It's good to see a well-coached, competitive team. But they once again got exposed. A lack of talent and a lack of healthy players will put you on the short end of the stick. I didn't think they would win today. Kept seeing the phrase "trap game". This wasn't a trap game. That phrase is used for good teams. This team over-achieves and is a product of kick-ass coaching. The Giants this year are not a good team. They're a tough out like Detroit, but they still have a lot of questions to answer going into next season. A lot of positives this year compared to the previous few years. Let's see what the off-season brings.

You're both right.
My pet peeve is how we get killed on smoke routes and screens of all kinds on 3rd and long. Our approach on third down defense is like a boxer that goes head-hunting. We're obvious and teams are easily beating those blitzes with what should be "give-up plays".

Thursday could be ugly. I’m not sold on Minnesota, but they are destroying them right now. Their confidence is going to be through the roof and ours is in the basement.
Hurrying up is counterproductive.
