the crying act every time he's touched. Geez, even I was getting tired of it.
I thought the ref was a bit too quick with the yellow cards, but if that's what's needed to try to keep control of the game it's not so bad.
US should not have let Wales back in the game. Friday is a big step up in class. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
To me it seemed they played for the 1 nil score and it cost them. Thoughts?
I agree, USA looked much better than Wales in the 1st half, but seemed to decide 1-0 was enough and thought their best chance was to hold on to the result, this was a game that if they won they're likely in the playoffs.
England likely beats everyone and 2nd place could be had with 4 points and best goal differential.
If we're 2nd in this group and get through to the 2nd round then we play the 1st place finisher in Group D. France is the obvious favorite in that group. Whoever finishes 2nd in Group B is likely in for a monumental task in the next round.
If we get through as the 2nd place team, we would play the 1st place team from Group A, and the winner of that match would play the winner of the 1C - 2D match. At least that's how the brackets are usually done and I don't think there's been a change. The winner of the D group (if France), would play the 2nd place team from Group C
I didn't see it as switching tactics in the 2nd half; from minute 45 until ~ 70, the game looked to me much the same, except US was wearing down, it had played an energetic balls to the wall 1st, and we had no answers for Moore and height in the area.
As we tired, the missed touches you saw in the 1st became more prevalent, there were so many potential services into the area that were just a bit off and/or were outright missed by their targets, frustrating. Wales played patiently and began to prevail in midfield as the 2nd half wore on.
Musah, Dest, and Sargent (?) were subbed, I didn't like the play of the men off the bench at all, clear decline in play.
As said by many, set pieces were anemic and they need better deliveries. Which brings me to Pulisic: he is highly skilled, but I thought he had a poor game, his wonderful redirection to Weah notwithstanding. I thought his decision making was poor, crossing when he could have sent or run deeper and taking on two defenders when he should have crossed. His whining, as well as his very obvious flops trying to draw calls, stood out for what they were, not good looks.
The penalty, good gosh, guess Z was just overtaken by the moment, he must cringe now every time he has to see a replay.
By and large, the populations of Mexico and Central America are smallish by NA and northern hemisphere standards. Yet, in a sport and at a position where height and length are highly valued, Mexico and Costa Rica have two of the best keepers in the world and maybe the shortest in this WC. Love their heart and quickness and understanding of the game.
RE: Don't know where to put this but Ronaldo is gone from United
Mutual termination aka we pay you to go away and don't let the door knob hit you on the way out.
Another milestone of how awful the Glazers (and Ed Woodward) have botched the last decade. Link - ( New Window )
They have and the cynics in UK about their ownership have many good reasons to be appalled and outraged. But, BHE, on the merits of Ronaldo the player, don't you see his as a shell of his former ability?

He scored 20+ goals last year. The key here is he doesn't fit into a modern system and was a poor fit from the beginning. He's a poacher that doesn't press. Cavani was a much better fit for the Ten Hag system and the club drove him out when they signed Ronaldo.
Ronaldo should finish his career where it started at Sporting.
he didnt fit the team at all. Def has stunted the trajectory of Fernandez. Ever since Ronaldo has got there Bruno has looked like a completely different player.
Time for Ronaldo to do his MLS tour. How badly will Apple push for that to happen, lol.
Wales/FIFA: 1
Why FIFA?

This result would be a dream come true to me.
Me, lol.

I hope so. Always fun to see the juggernauts go down.

My feelings too.
