The stadium yesterday

dannysection 313 : 11/21/2022 7:58 am
I go to one game a year with my son; guess I picked the wrong game....

But, I was really surprised at how empty and dead the place was, even at the start of the game.

The mezzanine section looked to be about 70% full at most, the lower deck about the same. I was in the upper deck, which seemed about 80% full. Just lot's of empty seats.

Anyone else at the game notice how quiet the crowd was?

Very strange vibe inside the stadium.
yeah i am there for every game

I agree with you. I did see a fair amount of empty seats as well.
I think it was due to being so cold.

I go to every home game. You’re correct it did feel off from the other home games. Many on the side mezzanine do have club access and it appears many utilized it.

Overall I’ve noticed there are more empty seats this year than most. Think the PSLs and years of losing have taken its toll on season subscriptions. The guy next to me moved his seats down in the same section and they haven’t been sold to anyone else. In the past when there was a wait list he would have been replaced in seconds.
The mezzanine section is not half empty

They can watch the game inside while having a nice meal.

It was cold enough and they are usually not die hards anyway.

I do agree that game was somewhat dead....between the wind, the score, the injuries....it was the worst home game this year
Combination of the weather and the Lions

And the weekend before Thanksgiving

My opinion anyway
saw it on TV

did not bode well....

actually after the Giants were up 6-3 early in the game, I got a bad vibe...very bad. Shut it off right then and there, recorded the rest....waited until 4:15, Googled the score and thought, "Why am I not surprised?"
I'm at every game

I'll agree that i saw some empty seats, i thought the crowd was great on a lot of the 3rd and long situations, the Lions just happened to convert almost every time. No better way to quiet a crowd when you're playing away from home.

So was it the shittiest home crowd so far this year? YES

is it the worst the team has played all season? Resounding YES

Team didn't give them much to be excited about.

Watching from home, I agree. The crowd seemed loud and into it for much of the game. The Lions just kept converting.
When you watch these guys live

You can really see the lack of talent. Also our schemes are easily defended.
Well,

I felt a lack of energy in the stadium from the beginning of the game. During pregame intros, usually players are jumping in the tunnel-yesterday, nothing. Then they introduce Special teams instead of offense or defense-crowd absolutely dead- many players the average fan never heard of. Then we go on offense and go 3 and out. Fans were very quiet up to that point. Yes, there were times the crowd was loud on 3rd downs but other than that it was definitely the least enthusiastic crowd in many weeks. As for mezzanine, I sit there and it was 80% full. The mezzanine boxes are the people who sit inside but those seats are only on the side-goal line to line. Overall, plenty in the mezzanine.

Nope....serious....as I get older, watching the games live puts me into a frenzy that isn't healthy. I can actually feel my blood pressure going up. Over the years, I've gotten speeding tickets over the Giants (the game when the Jets knocked 'em out of the playoffs in the 80's), injured various body parts and trashed some electronics (remotes). The Superbowl loss ended up with me kicking a laundry basket in my basement, putting my foot through it and slashing my bare foot up. All this is pretty weird for me, because naturally, I am a very calm person...my levity comes if I watch the game with other people...then I can watch live...guess it all comes out on game day..I am a maniac when it comes to the Giants...dunno.....
I was there yesterday

The biggest reason the stadium seemed empty at the beginning of the game was because half the crowd was stuck trying to get into the game. They had SEVEN metal detectors on the west entrance operating. We queued up at 1215 and didn't get into the game until there were 20 seconds left in the first quarter, and there were thousands behind us. It was utterly and unbelievably ridiculous. I don't know if there was some "chatter" relayed to the stadium ops team, but they were taking a full minute or more to clear everyone. I could not believe it.
That jives with what I saw…

There a lot of empty seats at KO but it filled in during the 1st quarter.

We came in at roughly same time but went through Verizon gate and got right through. Whatever it was must’ve been localized to the west side.
Here is what happened....
DefenseWins : 11/21/2022 3:23 pm : link
1. the line to get into the stadium took WAY longer than usual. It was about 30 min to get through security. The electronic readers are very slow. So many people did not make it to their seats for kickoff

2. The cold was a big contributor. At the start of the 2nd half, the mez was empty. People still inside keeping warm. Plus, you have a lot of people who are in the club room watching on TV where it is warm.

3. At the end of the 3rd quarter, it was apparent this team was not going to win. People were running for the exits.

even the fans were looking ahead to Dallas, no disrespect to the Lions I think they are dangerous, but this was a classic trap game.

Hey! I resemble that remark. We sit in the mezzanine seats, and you really can't watch the game from the club. Maybe from the TV's, but there are too many people in front of you to watch it "live."

In any case, yes because of the weather there were more people in the club than usual but our section's seats were filled. It wasn't that cold, and sunny games are pretty comfortable.

Not sure what was going on yesterday. We were losing most of this game and no spark on O was probably more the fault than anything.

And to reiterate, any one who wants to have a really good game experience should scalp club seats once at least.
