Trying to keep things in prospective

56GiantsUK : 11/21/2022 9:02 am
But I am wondering where the wins are going to come from down the stretch...

The defensive blueprint against us since seattle is proving to be successful

And from savouring the Thanksgiving game with relish we are now thinking this is last game we need right now, the game that giants fans are fearing, battered, depleted by injuries at more key positions and with a short week...

The cowboys are going to be pinning their ears back and coming after us on every play, stacking the box and attacking the many weaknesses we now have on the OL.

If it's a run it gets stuffed, if its a pass Jones will have company in the backfield shortly after his drop back.

Meanwhile their offense will will be having their own way with our defense.

The stats from yesterday showed we got zero hits on their QB
we still just cannot generate any pressure from the edges enough to concern Prescott, their one two punch with running backs will require extra bodies in the box to try and contain them which will leave their TE running backs and receivers running free down the field.

Can someone convince me that this game will not be over by the 2nd quarter...and why ?

I know, any given Sunday...

like you need a hug.
The team has
cjac : 11/21/2022 9:06 am : link
already exceeded my expectations.

I said in the car on the way to the game yesterday (to my brother), "if the Giants lose to the Lions today they wont make the playoffs"

Its going to be a tough road, esp with the way Washington is playing, Dallas is playing, and the injuries.

Lets face it, no one thought they'd be 7-3 at this point, lets just hope they can somehow win 3 more and make the post season.
Thursday will be tough

Game is away on short rest. They probably will need one of those games where Dallas makes the mistakes like turnovers. Stay in it and see if you can find a way.

Offensively they will need to find more consistent yards on the ground. Without that trouble.

On D they have to win first down. Put them in passing situations. If Dallas gets the run game going it will probably be a long day imv. I'm concerned with Dex's back.

Pretty despondent Eric, its peeing down here all day, and I am sure its me causing it, I have evening and late evening games to watch here in the UK and when you have to wait until late o clock to watch you just hope it's not like yesterdays game.

A positive encouraging injury report will really help !

Football is an emotional game, even as a fan

Having said that, it's not for everybody. If you can't watch a game where your team looks bad without being despondent or triggered, maybe you should find another way to spend your time.

It is awesome being invested in a team and riding the ups and downs, but man alive there are way too many emotionally crippled people posting on this site who seem to define the very essence of their being by whether the Giants win or lose. We see it on the hockey threads as well.

It is tough trying to be part of a community of fans when so many of them are so damn unhinged.
the injuries are devastating

but even if they get the brakes beat off on Thanksgiving Day, we're talking about a 7-4 team going into week 13 with 10 days of rest.

If you told me that in August I'd have said you were full of shit. And you would have been.

Let's see who we can get healthy and take it from there.

NYG have largely been able to hide their big flaws by controlling the clock, moving the chains, and not allowing teams to get into too much of a rhythm.

Detroit had a balanced attack yesterday and Goff picked up big third downs at nearly every key point. I think that team is significantly tougher than their record indicates.

There's plenty of reason to be a little bit pessimistic, but I'd submit that this is about as good as I possibly could have imagined for Year 1 of Schoen/Daboll, and there's still some pizza left in the box here. Everyone is different, but I do find some peace in that.

we have 4 games against WAS and PHI. Winnable games against IND and MIN. And we currently have 7 wins.
As many have said, the team has overacheived.

All I wanted was progress. We got that. 7-3 and in a playoff spot on Thanksgiving. Whoddathunkit? I'm just enjoying the season going forward, hope to get to the playoffs, and look forward to the offseason with the new regime pulling more levers.
They probably lose on Thursday
ajr2456 : 11/21/2022 9:26 am : link
But Washington should have lost to Philly. Nobody would have thought Indy would have Philly on the ropes or that Dallas would beat Minnesota by 37. Anything can happen in the NFL.

If they lose it is what it is. We’ll still be playing meaningful football and still have a very good chance of playing in the postseason.
ryanmkeane : 11/21/2022 9:29 am : link
as it stands, Jones, Thomas, Glowinski, Lawrence, and Love are basically the only "important" players on the starting 22 who haven't sustained some kind of injury this season. Think about that for a second.
Actually Jones ran the ball pretty well yesterday......
Simms11 : 11/21/2022 9:40 am : link
50 yards for a QB is pretty good in my book. They shut down Barkley and every team is looking to shut down the running game first. I don’t think that’s any secret formula. We did have some success throwing, however turnovers and penalties doomed us. The Defense also gave up too much chunk yardage on third downs. There’s also now a talent drop off with the players we are going to have to play. That is a bigger concern then the scheme.
1. Any Given Sunday, there's always HOPE. :)

2. 2007, 2011 both had God-Awful late season crashes and backed into the playoffs. Rarely are seasons linear.
3. Expect the worst. Dallas will generate 500+ yards of offense, over 30 points, will limit the Giants to under 14 points.
4. No new injuries = a win.

Again, we all know the perspective
BigBlue565358 : 11/21/2022 10:11 am : link
we dont need to be told over and over

Its ok to be angry and frustrated with yesterday's loss and injuries - it took what looked like a guaranteed playoff spot and made it really dicey

Save the perspective for after the season
