After Sunday’s loss to the Patriots, Jets quarterback Zach Wilson acted his apparent age by declining to admit that his performance let down the defense, which held New England to just a field goal. It should be easy got a quarterback to take public accountability, especially when it’s warranted. Of course he’s responsible, at least in part, for the failure of the Jets to score three points for the game — and to gain only two net yards in the second half. Even if he believes deep down that it isn’t his fault, it’s important for the quarterback to embrace the scrutiny and not deflect it. The locker room is listening. Did the quarterback take the heat? Or did he point fingers? And it wasn’t just the things Wilson said to reporters. Connor Hughes of SNY.tv reports, citing unnamed sources inside the team’s locker room, that Wilson “was walking around after the game ‘like he isn’t the problem.'” Per Hughes, Wilson’s demeanor “rubbed more than a few the wrong way.” |
I get the sense Salah is following marching orders from Woody to Chris to continue playing Wilson, too. And if he had his druthers, he'd take ZW out right now.

Not a good look for Douglas-Saleh botching this pick.
He occasionally flashes an electric arm, and occasionally uses it off platform. That's what they see. Nothing else.
Old Time Football 🏈 @Ol_TimeFootball - Jerry Glanville “What is he from College? I hate College guys” “This is the NFL, which stands for Not For Long when you make calls like that, I’ll be packing groceries” 😂😂😂 - ( New Window )
Wilson is a very gifted thrower. But, JFC, he made the Pats D yesterday look like the 2000 Ravens. The Pats D is certainly good, but not that good.
was Wilson a pretty consensus top 10 pick coming out of college?
Seemed like an example of the "fighting the last war" policy. All that talk about Wilson's off platform throws was piquing interest based on Mahomes dazzling. There's such a big difference doing that for BYU vs the pros.

Its easy when you simply take the better prospect and dont oveethink it based on a workout in shorts
get his arrow pointing up you mean..
Saleh needs to sit him and tell him he needs to win the job. Of course that will never happen. Jets gonna Jet......
It’s not easy to find good QB’s and Jones has made a ton of progress this year.
If you are Joe Douglas, have to be squirming a bit as GM.
Not sure that the OC is God's Gift either. He is also untested in that position. Seems totally afraid to call plays that stretch the field vertically and also does not let running game develop. Jets have only 1 WR not legitimate 4.4 flat or better. You would never know it.
Media seems to feel he is the only QB to ever botch a short pass. Remember Eli. Worst I have ever seen and looked like he must have dogged the sort pass part of practice.
Not all in on ZW. But the reality is he did not lose this game. He did not win it, but he also did not lose it.
Yeah, my younger brother said the same thing (how my younger brother became a Jets fan is a different story). He's done with the guy
Wasn't like it happened late in the process.
Jeff George and Jamarcus Russell had canon arms

Yes he was. One more example of the fact that there is no such thing as a sure thing, not matter where you are drafted. These qb's the past few years - Mayfield, Darnold, Rosen, this guy, Lance....all top ten selections. Obviously not all top ten qb's are gonna bust, but the percentages are really not all that great. You never know what you got till the bullets start flying.
I though he was kidding, holy crap it's true...
You know Flacco, a man with playoff and SB experience (and a ring) gives you the best chance to win. You have to make that switch.
This is a dangerous game Saleh is playing.
Wilson is trouble. NY is the wrong market when the press turns. They will get a answer on him shortly imv. This won't be easy to overcome.
He had opportunities to beat NE both times this year , and came up VERY small both times.
And HE has WRs!
Aside from Wilson I think the arrow is pointing up for the Jets, I wouldn't ditch the GM who is finally building something there. With that said he probably gets one more crack at a QB before losing his job.
That is an interesting landing spot for Derek Carr. If the rumors are true he may be released. Jets could use a solid veteran that can give more consistency.
This smacks of the NY sporting press shit stirring over a bad game. Where were they when he threw for 355 against the same team 3 weeks ago?
The kid is 23 and has started 20 games. Statistically, he has improved in Int %, yards per att, air yards per attempt, Rating, QBR, and sacks are way down. It would seem that the needle is pointing up.
The Jets are 5-2 in games he has started this season after going 3-10 last season. It's comical that Flacco, who most of the same sportswriters and a good portion of BBi was laughing at two months ago is now seen as the key to victory.
I think he is starting the rest of the way for the Jets.
This has been said for years and years..

Agreed. As frustrating as yesterday's game was for them, the flip side is returning to the Rex Ryan's days of needing two lockerrooms. I'm sure someone in a position of authority will step up to prevent that nonsense.
Wilson is up and down (mostly down) but is young and can still right his ship.
But let's not act like ZW isn't generally playing badly right now.

He's got some big whiffs up high in draft besides Wilson (Becton, Mims too) and there's question as to his OL approach so far. He's saved himself with some good FA pickups this year and drafting some cheap finds in 2nd-5th rounds.

And with the right QB they can be contenders for sure. This is a huge problem for them
This has been said for years and years..
100 percent agree with Dave here. Some of you guys know my history with Jets fans that cross over to areas that it shouldn't (like family cliques, etc).

I always respect a fellow poster but isn't this always the case? The arrow pointing up? I don't wish or feel like an injury to a young man's career is something to take lightly. However when Wilson went down in the pre-season, the Jete fans were all in a panic mode about their QB. Now Beningo, Ira in Staten Island, Tierney, are all begging for Mike White.
Some Jets fans went over the line with me so please excuse my loathing of that fan base.
He was a better reporter when on Jets beat past few years.
Now he resembles the other SNY hack -- name of Andy Martino. Baseless speculation without sources. VERY COOL JOB TO HAVE!
ZW sucked badly and he has lost the fanbase, that is about all we know.
Thoughts and prayers for any fans who were treated badly by Jets fans in their families as mentioned above. Very sad!!!
