Does this recent spate of injuries make a KG restructure more likely? Overthecap.com says we only have $2.6M in cap space and we have to replace Robinson and I assume Jackson.
they would either need to extend barkley and convert some of this years salary into future years or do the same for KG. If anything, this might play into leverage for barkley getting a deal done asap. It could save them a couple of million this year and not kick the can too much down the road
We generate cap room and keep him for a lower salary. Its not like he is going to cash in as a FA if we cut him. He seems to have a good attitude so far.

And try and survive through the end. When we didn't do anything at the trade deadline and then do anything contract wise over the bye the season seemed to be locked in. I want nothing to do with Golladay's contract. The only deal I would be ok with is Jones's deal but even then I would prefer to wait until the off-season.

That might have worked with slayton who hasn't gotten a payday, but when you have already earned 44.5m on your contract, you take the money and run because someone is going to be dumb enough to pay him millions thinking he can still produce. His checks this year are guaranteed and he knows he can't be cut so not alot of options there

The Giants cannot sacrifice the future to try and salvage this season. The injuries suck, but I actually think they will cause the front office to take a long term view and not chase a potential meaningless playoff appearance in '22. Golladay needs to be gone next year. He has been given every opportunity to make an impact and has failed miserably. Make progress toward the future.
The Giants will restructure Golladay if they need money to operate this year. That seems like a distinct possibility.

The Giants owe him the remaining pro-rated amount of his fully guaranteed 2022 salary — 5.3M. He will make that money no matter what and it will count against a salary cap no matter what.
They can push some of that out to next year’s cap. It doesn’t change how much he’s paid or how much he counts against the cap over the life of his contract.
If the Giants need extra cash to operate this year, they’ll convert some of his salary to a restructure bonus, and move the cap hit from this year to next year. It’s really simple, and not the tragedy it’s made out to be.

Take the emotion out of it, and the question is whether our operating expenses will go up so much that we'll be forced to borrow from next year's cap. Pretend the borrowing isn't from any particular player, but merely taking an advance on next year's salary.
We're already running on a razor's edge whether the current bank has enough funds to make it through the season. There are needs for additional bodies. The options are simply going without filling those needs, or adding bodies. Even at minimum wage, adding bodies will break the bank, or come damn close. Pulling up practice squad players means a need to replace the ps roster.
It may simply come down to whether Schoen/Daboll are giving up on the season, or looking realistically at it probably not going anywhere, and choosing the option of not replacing the fallen bodies and trying to eke through the season with a minimal roster. Who out there is really going to add anything besides a carcass to the team?
One thing to remember is that any unused cap money from this year rolls over to next. So if we borrow 5 mil, but only use 1, it's really as if we only borrowed 1 mil.

Besides, we’ve had a few healthy scratches the past two weeks.some of those guys might get another chance.
