Nice win last night for the Kaynicks!
Amazing what a 3-2 road trip can do for a team.
Getting Grimes healthy has really helped give us some D,One can only hope that MitchRob can get, and stay upright for us.
Brunson is an elite player on the Offensive end.....
Julius and RJ played very well last nite....as did IQ.
Obi welllllll, not sure what he has been doing the last few games.
I wish Cam wasnt so dang injury prone...MitchRob has that moniker already.
I do think this team can scratch it's way to a few games above .500.
43-39 is my prediction at this juncture.

I actually don't think Sims is raw in every sense of the word. Can he shoot or score anything but a dunk. No. That's a fair criticism. But neither can Mitch. What Sims does better than Mitch is switch to and effectively guard smaller people. He also screens and rolls well.

He is what he is and I wasn’t talking about his shooting. It wasn’t long ago he looked lost, always out of position and falling for every fake and committing stupid fouls. Now he playing much better defense, not fouling as much and is very active on the boards.the difference from where he was to where is is at is dramatic.

That's what comes with playing time he has the talent and skill set but it takes playing time to get in the flow.
Mitch was a foul machine his first 2 years but he learned to play in the NBA. IMO Sims is further ahead than Mitch was when he came in
Sims is 6'9
AG5686 : 11/22/2022 11:55 am : link
and he aint built like Wes Unseld,so i doubt he can handle the first string duties of the 5 position.....too slow to be a 4.
What do you all see as a realistic ceiling for this guy?
Sims had a 44.5 vertical
Vanzetti : 11/22/2022 11:56 am : link
And 7’4” wingspan

So he was always going to be a project because with those numbers if he had even the slightest degree of basketball skill he would’ve been a top pick in the draft

I do not think he will ever be a star but he will be a very high-quality rotational guy for a number of years
New NBA
larryflower37 : 11/22/2022 12:38 pm : link
He can guard the swing 5 and still guard the rim.
I think he can be a solid 5 and good rotation player.
Not too many true centers anymore that play with their backs to the rim

Disagree that he’s “too slow to be a 4”. Here he is guarding Jamal Murray on the perimeter:

But the first unit needs more high IQ players like Grimes who don't just defend but also move the ball and move without the ball.

Exactly and why it bugs me when people insist Thibs never plays young guys. He’s proven time and time again that he will play certain young inexperienced players, people just complain when it’s not every player they want to see play more.
Quickley trade for first

The Knicks churned the 19th selection in 2021 into a future first-rounder because, at the time, they believed the hopes and dreams that draft picks represent would be more attractive in a trade for a star than the certainty of an actual human, which is what they would have had if they’d drafted at No. 19. According to sources around the league, the Knicks have targeted a future first-round pick in a return for Quickley, who is extension-eligible this upcoming summer.

Doesn't say much otherwise except they want to continue to build assets for a star trade

From Fred Katz same article
larryflower37 : 11/22/2022 2:31 pm : link
Never forget the mission.

The New York Knicks want to trade for a star. Not sign one. Not increase their chances of drafting one. They want to trade for one and then trade for another.

Make sure to assess the front office within that context.

I don't doubt they would want Kat and Minnesota might move him after their little experiment didn't do what they expected

There aren't many star bigs I have ever trusted LESS than Kat. But maybe Thibs and/or MSG and this front office could get the most out of him. I'm scared of him though. Doesn't seem to be a guy you want to hitch the entire wagon to.

jpkmets : 11/22/2022 3:16 pm : link
Especially coming off the horrible home loss to OKC. Seems like this team is going to have tons of ups and downs that produce a team that is 5 games from .500 either way. Kind of wild to see what they can do at times. If they can find consistency then they might end up being pretty good though!

He would definitely be an upgrade so it really comes down to what they have to give up to get him. If it’s reasonable then it could be a good move, if they trade away their future in order to get him, then not so much

is why this will always be vastly different than prior Knicks teams or regimes that flirted with 500. I always look forward to watching the Knicks because of all the players that carry intrigue where as in year's past I (we) were merely watching the uniform. If they can win 46+ it would be one of the most enjoyable seasons we have seen over the last 20 years.

Still want that quantity for quality trade to be made, but we're gonna have to be patient and just hope the team plays well.

The Knick he reminds me of most is Cazzie Russell, who had a long and solid NBA career but only was an All-Star once. I could see RJ having a very good year along the way and making an All-Star team, but if were only once in his career that wouldn't surprise me either.

1) Brunson...what a great signing. Loved it in the moment, love it on 11/22.
2) I know he gets a ton of grief, but I'm still an IQ fan. I wouldn't move him unless we get a Godfather offer.
3) That was the best game I've seen of RJ this season. I don't know if the stats back it up, but he was damn good last night.

9-9 after what looked like a possible brutal road trip. Back home vs. Blazers on Black Friday. I'll be in the house. Hitting up either Legends or Smithfield Hall for USA-England & then walking-stumbling?-over to MSG. LFG!

Cazzie was picked #1 overall, RJ #3 overall, very similar in size and role on the team, and to some extent skillset. Maybe RJ looks to be a scorer a little more than Cazzie did. Of course Cazzie had Willis, Clyde et al. as his teammates.

I think the hope was that the SGA situation would turn in the Knicks favor, but it is starting to look like that ship has sailed. Looking around the league, I think the teams that stand out in terms of potentially deciding to blow things up if the season doesn't turn around would be the Wolves as you mentioned, the Lakers obviously, and maybe the Bulls.

I think its been discussed pretty thoroughly the pros/cons of an Anthony Davis move, but what about LaVine from Chicago? The Bulls have a lot of money tied up into a core that really doesn't seem like it has a path to be any better than the play in. I believe Vucevic is a free agent after this season, and DeRozan after next year. They are kind of in limbo until after that point, so does it make sense to just wait it out for two years or do they decide they are better off trying to move LaVine for a boat load of assets? If they are still hovering at the bottom of the East as it gets closer to the deadline, I wouldn't be surprised to start hearing rumors about potential shake ups there.
Doesn’t LaVine have some injury issues?

Still can’t believe we got brunson from Dallas. I know brunson sort of plays the same position as doncic, maybe, but they coexisted just fine and would have been just fine together going forward. Somehow we got him here — never happens for the Knicks…..finally it did. I always believed Cuban would eclipse our offer. He didn’t.

He was already ridiculously ball dominant before, and now they have zero talent capable of swinging a game other than Luka himself.

Mark Cuban doesn't get any flack for his poor team builds.

Generational talent supported by nothing part II.

Yuo they have dinwiddie but he onoy handkes when Luka is off the court..

Christian Wood is akready dissapointed with his role..

They have a rim runner and 3 shooters around Doncic, its very predictable

In one interview I read Cuban sounded like he wasn’t terribly upset to lose Brunson. I got the impression he knew becoming a Knick was a lifelong dream of Brunson’s and didn’t want to stand in his way if he didn’t want to remain a Maverick.

Maybe he's the 6-foot-9 wing the Pistons so desperately need?

Forget he is only 23 and still could develop into a decent wing
