around this team. I am sure this has been discussed already and I don’t want to get into the stupidity of it all but injuries of this nature are unforced errors. To me, it was incredibly dumb and immature of McKinney, a guy I still love but a guy who probably cost himself a Pro Bowl spot and maybe his captaincy as a result.
Not sure about anyone else but I’ve had a negative feeling ever since. Now, I’m just hoping we continue to build towards the future. If we make the playoffs, great, but I really can’t say if we will win any more games going forward.
I hope we play Dallas hard and steal one but I’m fearful of a blowout. The best thing we may have going in is Dallas’ arrogance, always on display.
At any rate, I’m going to enjoy how far we’ve come, hope we can steal a couple of wins. Who knows if we make the playoffs, get Adoree back along with Azeez, Neal and Lemieux/Gates get healthy and better with playing time, that would be great. I definitely expect to see Nick start at center Thursday and Shane with a rebound game. Hopeful Evan can play also.
Cheers all and Happy Thanksgiving, in advance!
In the entire league.
McKinney and Love were becoming one of the top 2 or 3 S duos in the league. They fed off each other, were interchangeable in terms of FS/SS, on the line/back deep, etc. And Love has also been less effective without McKinney; still good, but not outstanding. We need him back.
To lose a player if McKinney’s stature over the fuckin BYE week when we should have been getting healthier was a huge blow.
McKinney's injury is basically akin to Wink being short a roll of duct tape that he needed to patch the ship's hull.
Not many truly grasp the intricate nature of hand/finger surgery, especially as it relates to repairing tendons, nerves, ligaments, etc., if the goal is to restore/maintain function... it's very sensitive.
Ronnie Lott is a poor comparison to what McKinney did to himself.
This is a team that's improving, but not yet consistent. They can as easily win a game, or lose it on any given Sunday. I think we read too much into the fragility of this team and don't focus on the obvious thing. We have a bunch of well-coached second teamers who are over-achieving...
And yet the defense hasn't looked as good since he got hurt.
Who is behind him? A rookie.
Teams have dealt with worse injuries than McKinney but it's a huge loss.
No one is saying he's as good as Ed Reed - the point is that he's the NYG's version of Reed; ie, an indispensable piece of the defense that has huge ramifications when he's out...

With a bandaged hand? Ronnie Lott cut off his finger
I think some details have been omitted about the injury and the nature of it. He isn't just in a cast; it's not a simple broken arm like was initially reported. He seems to have really damaged his fingers. It may not be the type of injury they can just overly bandage with a club like cast and play him.
I think this is correct.
How did we get worse? We didn't trade anyone who played for the Giants.
In the first game without X, we beat the Texans. Held them to 16.
Sunday was the first loss without X. So, I'm very reluctant to say this is a backbreaking loss. And I am huge fan of X.
I have a bad feeling this is by design; linebackers under Wink typically aren't good in pass coverage... or they're replaced with safeties/cornerbacks.
The air that goes out of the balloon can refill all at once.
When a key player goes down the team has to compensate by being a bit more efficient at their job...not at "covering" the hole.
The Giants need a few guys to step up their play in order to make this more than an exciting let down.
We need guys that have been playing, to step up. The losses in the secondary need to elevate the play of the pass rushers.
We can only expect so much from guys that we know are going to be second stringers in the future.
The Giants DL needs to be the difference against Dallas.
No he isn’t but scheme was and talent wise he was integral. Add Jackson out now and it’s a mess.
