This guy,Ben Patrick, had radicalized the whole PT space by going straight at the knee joint and supporting muscles in what he calls "knee ability." He was crippled in basketball at the age of 24. After failed surgeries he created his own regime which has helped me(runner) and many other sports folks(or anyone really). I bet if Barnes did more of this ability and agility stuff, the entire team wouldn't be on surgery table.
Overbuilding muscles(deadlifts and squats) with 2 legged support is going to do like zero for your cutting and running(single-legged sport). Too much force generation in big muscles destroys the joint(it never had a chance.)
