#54 of the Lions, DT Alim McNeill, jumped off the screen for me in the re-watch. He ate the lunch of the Giants' interior OL. Then, I go to PFF and find this:
McNeill recorded 10 total pressures and a 31.0% pass-rush win rate against New York in Week 11. In case you are wondering, a 31% pass-rush win rate, is pretty absurd.
PFF gave him a grade of 91.0 for the effort vs the Giants, and a 90.7 pass rush grade. I mean, he beat Shane Lemieux like a rented mule.
He was benched in the second half.
He was benched in the second half.
I've been thinking about our poor linebacker play for months and I've been wondering if this is a design flaw of Wink's defense; are the linebackers taken off the field because they aren't good or because he prefers using defensive backs?

He was awful. About three third down conversions were because of him.

My opinion is Wink is scheming with what talent we have. Which means playing more defensive's that use 5 or 6 DBs rather than ILB (because ours sucks). He's trying to best use the players he has.

I dont thing Wink plays only one defense.
Really happy to see Cor'dale Flott grade out so high, since we really need him now. Also both Smiths were better than I thought.
