Is 9-8 a good season?

Blackmax00 : 11/24/2022 8:47 pm
Yes they improved greatly from 4-12. And they exceeded expectations. But realistically I think that's what they end up. The future is very bright and I know they'll only improve. I think we all wanted more this year after such a good start. But injuries have really killed any chance of a late season push.
9-8 likely gets us to the postseason
BlackLight : 11/24/2022 8:49 pm : link
So given what expectations were going in, yeah, I'd call that a good season.

9-8 is a good season. It shows this staff can win with far less than ideal circumstances. I'll take that no problem.

I don't know that records gets us into the post season. That depends on Washington. Dallas and Seattle own tie breakers on us and I think SF pushes Seattle into the wildcard hunt.

Need an ATL win and then a win next week against Washington or else things get real fucking dicey.
Yes, a very

good season. I had them 6-11.
Hell yeah

A winning record is a great season.
How is that a question
BillT : 11/24/2022 9:01 pm : link
No, the team predicted to have the top pick in the 2023 draft wins 9. Awful.
The injuries
PaulN : 11/24/2022 9:01 pm : link
Have crippled the team. They are changing the field next season, my guess is that this fucking medical staff will finally get changed, at minimum many of the old faces will be gone. You think Schoen and Daboll are going to accept incompetence and losing? You see how fucking mad Daboll is? Trust me they are going to make big changes this off season. Their hands were tied, and they have done the best they can with what they have, or what is left of what they have. This team with what they had going into this game pkayed remarkable. This with Jones having the worst game he has played in a long while. I love Jones, he has become the easiest player to pull for. His desire and competitiveness is off the charts great, and they are great attributes for a QB. But he has limitations to his game, in the passing department. I trust what Daboll and Schoen decide to do. But I do not believe for a second that we know and I do not think anything is certain or anything is off the table.
All considering, yes

Year 1 of the new regime
aka dbrny : 11/24/2022 9:07 pm : link
Year 1 Goal: show you can stop sucking, draft well, use what you have, and impart a winning approach while you clean up the mess from your predecessor
Year 2 Goal: show that year 1 wasn’t a fluke and that you can sustain and build

Year 1 goal is accomplished-though man did the draft class get decimated by injuries. Right now, we’re playing with house money…so enjoy
9-8 sounds good to me
5BowlsSoon : 11/24/2022 9:10 pm : link
I would be very proud of this season with that result. This has ways been a rebuilding year and the year to make a decision on Jones and Barkley.

Going 9-8, making playoffs or not, with all these injuries is simply amazing.
Yes very good
larryflower37 : 11/24/2022 9:11 pm : link
There is going to be a meltdown next year when we only win 6-9 wins again.
This roster is in flux and doesn't have talent right now.
Hopefully we have another good draft and stay healthy
Going 2-5 down the stretch
DisgruntledNYGfan : 11/24/2022 9:15 pm : link
after starting 7-3 is incredibly disappointing. But 9-8 still overachieving.
9-8 is good.
Joe Beckwith : 11/24/2022 9:16 pm : link
10-7 is great.

Getting to 8-4 is now very important if they want 9-8+.

Get healthy this next week+.
The better question would be…

Statistically better than last year. I just hoped for more. Oh well

It’s way too early to be speculating about next year’s record. And the roster will look different - especially at the WR position

Absolutely, yes!

A resounding YES!
Great season for this team
Jerry in_DC : 11/24/2022 9:52 pm : link
This is a 6 win roster. Winning 9 is brilliant. 9-8 might be a good season next year too.
It is a huge improvement and beyond our initial expectations...
DefenseWins : 11/24/2022 9:55 pm : link
before the season started. Now, some people will be disappointed knowing we started out 7-2, but yeah winning 9 games would be great.
If it makes the playoffs, yes.

While on the surface it woukd appear to be an easy yes. But the way this team looks talent wise, I’m not so sure. There appears to be a lot more questions than there are answers as it relates to foundational pieces. For as pleasant as the first half of the year has been, the second half could be the total opposite.

So we could go into next season needing answers at QB, RB, WR, more than half the Oline, pass rushers, LBs, CBs. This coukd be on the heels of going from 7-2 to only winning 2 games after that start.
There's not one of you who wouldn't have JUMPED at 9 wins
David B. : 11/24/2022 10:26 pm : link
Before this year started. Before 6 ACLs and about the same number of MCLs. Given where they've come from and the horrid post-Coughlin/Reese years.

No one had them over .500.
Yes, but...

When you start 7-2, 9-8 is a little disappointing.

Eh, I predict this team to win 4-6 games, so its still overachieving. It's okay.

Only if we beat Washington. If they sweep us, they almost certainly knock us out of the playoffs. Even a split makes it dicey at 9-8.
To me that’s the number we need to hit
djm : 11/24/2022 11:32 pm : link
9 wins. Gotta win 2 here down the stretch. Beat wash and one more.

If we split and assuming Washington wins Sunday they’d have to beat one of San Fran, Dallas or Cleveland to get to 9 and a tie breaker to come into play. The team to worry about the most at 9-8 is Atlanta if they beat Washington on Sunday. They play Steelers, Ravens, Saints, Cardinals and Bucs.
It would be a great season
Dave in PA : 11/25/2022 12:12 am : link
This roster isn’t THAT MUCH different than the doormats we’ve rolled out for the past decade. 9-8 is a vast improvement and extreme overachieving result
