(1) Dallas swatting the Giants away in the second half was hardly a surprise. The only thing that stopped Dallas in the first half was... you guessed it, Dallas! In the second half, their offense got out of its own way and steamrolled an under-manned Giants defense. No surprise.
(2) The Giants defense, however, has a bigger issue that needs to be addressed. In the first game against Dallas, when the team was supposedly "healthier", they got gouged for 170+ yards (5.9 YPC.) Today, same result. Dallas ran through a depleted Giants defense at will -- 169 yards (4.3 YPC.) If you believe Leonard Williams and Dexter Lawrence are stout against the run, then Wink has a huge F-ing problem with the other 9 defenders he's trotting out there. And so long as the Giants stay soft against the run, they're not going to do very much. And it's that simple.
the other was the OLBs/DEs over pursued a few times and the Dallas RBs just jumped outside.
I think the big problem is weak ILBs...
I just assume the fault must be in our LBs….and of course, with no McKinney, that has to hurt too.

Yep, right after WRs.
BillT -- no doubt the Giants are now a walking M.A.S.H. unit and I am pleasantly surprised we got at least one "competitive" half out of the team this afternoon. But they have a very deep, serious issue in regard to their run defense that transcend the injury problems. They are the NFL's worst against the run. And Dallas walks all over them whether they are "healthy" or banged up.

We have a pair of top DTs. We also have a promising edge who is a rookie. We have a another promising edge who is injured, a promising CB who is injured, top safety who is injured and a top CB who is injured. Oh, and two backup DTs that are injured.

M.S. We are in the first year of a rebuild after four years (if not more) of the worst management and team building era in Giants history. What? Did you think this was a top 5 defense when the season began.

Top 5 defense? No.
The very worst run defense! No.

Short our #3 and #4 DLs, a starting edge and our top 3CBs and our top safety. This team has overachieved in general and even tonight. That’s what I see. The stats don’t mean much to me in that context.
I agree… the team has indeed over-achieved this season. And they did give us an entertaining first half today with a seriously beaten up roster. But at the risk of sounding like a broken record, this team’s run defense has been scary bad for years and this season is no different. The very worst in the NFL and a play doll for whenever we face Dallas.

Yup.
Good point. Adoree Jackson has been fantastic on the outer edge. Probably tackling as well as any time in his entire career!
