With all the bad calls

kcgiants : 11/25/2022 9:06 am
and no calls for the Giants, do you think the Giants send films to the league of miss calls and bad calls against them and just keep it quiet so they don't get fine for complaining? Cause the Giants has tons of film to send to the league.
Who cares?
Mike from Ohio : 11/25/2022 9:11 am : link
The league goes back and scores the refs on the calls they made. What does sending a tape to the league do? They clarify calls, but they will not send something back saying “Hey you guy really got screwed!”

Fans can blame the refs. Players and coaches should not.

You are correct.

Though the refs were still bad.

Yeah, I understand they do grade the refs and umps on their calls but I don't think they look for missed or non calls. I don't expect the league to come back and say yes you got fucked but at least an explanation of the call. And I think the squeaky wheel gets the oil.
If Mara wanted to improve the officiating
ajr2456 : 11/25/2022 9:24 am : link
He can. He’s on the competition committee. But improving the officiating likely means more money out of the owners pockets. I believe the NFL is the only sport whose officials aren’t full time employees of the league. Pay them as full time employees and make them spend the week and the offseason working on becoming better officials.
Yes, they do send in video

to the league when they feel that there was an improper call - requiring an explanation. I am pretty sure that the ineligible call will be questioned - someone posted the actual rule last night, and while I originally thought it was the correct call, after reading the rule, I think it should not have been called. But we will never know - the league never gives a explanation unless egregious.

My understanding is that the rewatch the game and grade it. They don’t just rewatch the calls. If refs are missing calls they need to know why. Would be pointless to grade them otherwise.

And if I were the league and received a directors cut each week from a team complaining about the calls, I think I would chalk it up to them being a bunch of whiney punks. The officiating in the league is bad and in some games bad toward one side, but I do not believe any refs are trying to consciously influence the outcome of a game because it would cost them their job and reputation. This idea that the league tells refs to make one team win over another is preposterous.
It wasn’t just that they were bad. They were not impartial.

The crowd and the atmosphere intimidates everyone. I would like to see how officiating crews grade out after a game in Dallas. I bet that even the best crews favor Dallas at home, especially on Thanksgiving.

Cowboys with home field advantage, a home crowd and a very short week probably pretty unbeatable.

The Giants have so many injuries that during the game when I read the names on half of the players uniforms I said who's that!

Where our guy wasn’t even engaged with a defender was ridiculous!! That rule needs to be changed!

Not sure I buy that. First, they took a TD off the board. And the phantom call on Holmes took a defensive stop off the board. Number one reason , no. Top five, easily.
What difference does it make

The are too many whiners about refs here.

Even if they picked up the flag — which I don’t think they should — it seems like every week giants do that same thing —- they still would have been down a TD.

You really think the cowboys would have been happy to just let the giants stroll down the field with 7 minutes left in the game and running on third down and huddling and throwing to running backs?

Not to mention what about a Daniel jones interception that called back?

Face it they lost to a better team. Giants have no real passing attack. They can hide it in close games but when you’re playing like giants were in the last 7 minutes down two TDs ; it’s obvious something is really wrong.

It’s not about being engaged. It’s to prevent interference/picks. He was downfield illegally by rule. Did it affect the play? No. By rule was he illegally downfield. Yes he was. It was the correct call.

The darnay Holmes illegal contact was also correct. He pulled the jersey. Anytime a ref sees a jersey pull the flag comes out. He also will never get the benefit of the doubt since he’s always grabbing. Having said that, I’m a darnay fan. Tough as hell throws his body around etc. imo both calls were correct stop bitching about the refs

No it didn’t. The Giants didn’t score after that until garbage time. They scored 6 points off 3 turnovers, two that gave them drives in Cowboy territory. That’s where the game was lost.
Sorry only one in Cowboy territory

Both penalties had a huge impact on the game and resulted in an 8 point swing. In a league where the majority of games are 1 score affairs, these calls do in fact impact the outcome. The biggest play of the game was DJ & Saquon not connecting on an easy pitch and catch, but these two horrific calls absolutely had an outsized affect on the game.

Inclined to agree. The timing of those calls impacted the game.
The penalty that took the touchdown away
ajr2456 : 11/25/2022 11:34 am : link
Was a penalty by the rule. It’s true it goes uncalled a lot but he was also standing out there with nobody around him, fairly easy for the refs to see him.
