1. We were leading at halftime, which made me glad we weren’t blown out like Minnesota was.
2. Because the following 10 starters were missing:
WR- Shepard
WR- Robinson
TE- Bellinger
Edge- Ojulari
CB- ARobinson or Moreau
CB- Jackson
S- McKinney
OT- Neal
OG- Bredeson or Lemieux
C - Feliciano
…And we were still able to punch them in the mouth for 30 minutes. Obviously, the injuries to our secondary caught up with us when Dallas began making all those 3rd down conversions. It could have been different if it weren’t Holmes on Cee Dee and we had better coverage on their TEs.
Sure, our boys “lost that loving feeling” after halftime, but Dallas clearly has the better players (especially with us being so handicapped), so I guess the cream rose to the top.
And how often will we see Thomas give up 2 sacks? Obviously he was ill as well. As for Saquon….clearly he is not the same guy he was three weeks ago. Brightwell looked so much quicker.
Hopefully we can rest up and get some players back for our big game v Commanders.
GO GIANTS! 7-4 still looks pretty darn good to me.
Parsons seemed motivated
I’m disappointed Dimes didn’t have a horrible game, get sacked 10 times, fumble at least once after getting creamed, throw multiple interceptions under intense pressure, and most importantly, didn’t lead the team to single digits on the scoreboard.
And they didn't make plays to get it done in a big divisional matchup.
You're absolutely correct, but at the risk of sounding like an asshole show-off, the way the game actually unfolded was not that much of a surprise. Because it was a division rival, and because Dallas was coming off such a tremendous effort against Minny, whereas the Giants laid a big egg against Detroit... I wrote the following because I've been watching football for 6 decades and this game had all the makings of the following:
Sounds good

Could happen... ya never know. Would be great.
But maybe here's a more plausible scenario.
Dallas isn't fully awake when the game begins, and so the Giants are left hanging around until sometime into the 3rd quarter. Maybe the Giants even have a slight lead. But finally, Dallas wakes up, stretches, yawns and then swats the Giants away scoring 21 unanswered points.

Hey, I figure, give the guy what he wants. It’s my little gift this holiday weekend : )

check the prediction thread - instead we got a solid half of good football played on the road with a mostly scrub squad.

The way you word that it makes you sound like you take joy in the Giants getting their doors blown off.
That’s not how the game unfolded. They got a bad call on them at 13-7 which extended the Dallas drive. Had chances to get off the field after and couldn’t. Had the 4th & 1 and their two pending free agents botched what could have been a conversion.
But yeah, it was just because Dallas wasn’t awake yet.
A competitive first half, but I wouldn’t confuse that with the fact that:
(a) the Giants we’re losing the LOS battle in the first half;
(b) Dallas was on the short end of the first half score because of … wait for it… Dallas.
(c) Once Dallas got out of its own way by putting an end to the turnovers, they rolled over the Giants in the second half.
(d) While Dallas certainly beat up a severely compromised Giants secondary, they absolutely destroyed the Giants at the LOS both sides of the ball.
(e) And that is why the game ended up in a romp. Not because Saquon is hurt, not because of penalties, not because of a very inconsistent game from Daniel Jones.
(f) The Giants lost that game the old-fashioned way… they got beat up badly where the big men play.
The holding call on Holmes against Lamb changed the entire trajectory of the game and turned momentum.
They went from getting the ball back up 6 points in the 3rd quarter to down 14-13. That call extended the drive, kept the defense on the field and wore them down.
Giants get the ball back, force the issue by going for it on 4th from their own 41 (I agreed with that call, had the right play dialed up, but players didn’t execute). But that 4th down call was a direct result of the momentum Dallas had and fact that the Giants defense was gassed- when the last Dallas scoring drive should’ve never happened in the first place.
I’m not gonna sit here and say they reffed the game completely one sided/ didn’t think that was the case (although the illegal man downfield was a bit ticky-tacky). But I do think that the worst. call of the was the one on Holmes- and it ended up being the turning point in the game
got beat up at the LOS because of so many injuries. That's a nice narrative to take the sting out of yesterday's drubbing.
But in the first game against Dallas, against their back-up QB, and when the Giants were supposedly more "healthy," Dallas controlled the LOS in that game too and ran rough shod over the Giants.
nah, probably 3 pts on the draft which does nothing. Remember if Dallas had to go 80 yds for 7 they probably could.
I agree. They sure look like a top 3 team to me. If they get their Ying and their Yang together they could be very dangerous come play-off time. But if I had to venture a guess, something funky always seems to hit the Dallas team at precisely the wrong time, so maybe this season is no different! And I wouldn't be upset about that!

And we all need to laugh some today…
I still think NY would have played it ultra conservative on offense in order to kill the clock and keep its defense off the field. And I still think Dallas would have, on their next possession, dominated the LOS and CeeDee still would have had his way with “little” Holmes. In other words, had they not called call that penalty the result would have been to just delay the inevitable….I think…..but I can’t really say for sure.

First game as a Unit in ‘22 with a new systems vs a much more talented team and experienced team.
If we have Jackson ,XMc, AO, and anything that resembles a season starting penciled in OL, they would have ended the game with a lead too.
And Cee Dee would have played like a lamb vs Jackson.
A FG, I don’t believe, would have been a hard enough punch, still being down 13-10. No, I think they wanted the lead and were not concerned if NY got the ball on their 36 to start their drive if the 4th down failed. Again, just speculation…don’t really know….but McCarthey did go for a 4th down in Cowboy territory, so this was a bit safer.
