Definitely not perfect but IMHO better than Feliciano.

It'll up up to the coaches to check the tape, but

he sure looks better than Feliciano to me. Love to see him starting.

As long as his leg responds

well over the next few days then he should absolutely be starting for the rest of the season. Let Feliciano compete at LG with Ezeudu and Bredeson when he returns.
Give me 5 guys

With the heart of Nick Gates on the OL
Feliciano is good depth.
edavisiii : 11/26/2022 7:58 am : link
You could do a lot worse for your #2 center. Seems like a guy who can play all 3 IOL spots but he gets pushed back a lot. Gates looked like an improvement. Great story. The OL is still a work in progress but it is way better than it was in the last 5 seasons. Let's hope Evan Neal didn't regress with the time out, he was looking better. Guard is starting to look deep once some bodies heal. Bredeson S. Lemieux J. Ezeudu, Feliciano and M. Glowinski, should (I hope) give us two decent guards.

Yeah, starting Gates seems like a no brainer to this dude.
Agreed about Feliciano as depth.
mittenedman : 11/26/2022 8:19 am : link
The Giants have lots of cap space moving forward. If they're serious about having a good OLine, keep Feliciano as your primary interior backup at all 3 positions. I think it's clear he's not going to get a big contract anymore.
Gates is a wonderful story of recovery from a serious injury
Rick in Dallas : 11/26/2022 8:21 am : link
He is a warrior.
for me I want more than decent guard play. I want road graders at the guard position. It is a position that needs to be upgraded. Don't get the love for Lemieux at all.
First clip...
j_rud : 11/26/2022 8:25 am : link
At the :23 mark he appears to pull and powerbomb a DB. Also take a look at around 50 seconds: he either feels or senses Glowinski go down behind him and *snaps* his right leg out of there like lightening.

Rick - agreed. They need to find their Chris Snee to unlock the OL's true potential.

I'd be all over a 3-down MLB, #1 WR, starting CB and top shelf OG. It's a(nother) long shopping list, and (again) tough to get done in 1 offseason.

Since we’re Christmas shopping, give me two of those plus Andrew Thomas and whatever we expect Evan Neal and Josh Ezeudu to become.
What is his run blocking like
blueblood : 11/26/2022 9:50 am : link
on the pin and pull technique runs. How well does he move in space? Thats my question.
Feliciano is not
Dave on the UWS : 11/26/2022 9:57 am : link
a good guard and he’s barely passable as a center. He’s a FA and I highly doubt he is resigned. Gates was a highly regarded starting center before his injury. He looks like he’s pretty close to the player he was before. I can’t see Bobby Johnson NOT starting him the rest of this year, especially since Nick is also a FA and they have to make a decision on him too.
Only reason not to
Bob in Newburgh : 11/26/2022 10:56 am : link
Would be if his lateral range is totally shot from a functional, rather than passing a Physical standpoint. See Golladay.

Even if Feliciano is healthy, Gates should start unless another o-line injury occurs and Gates is needed to shore up another position.
