He has the physical tools to make great throws at times. Which is why some people love him.
But he is so wildly inconsistent. His interception at midfield a possession before is a play a true freshman shouldnt make. And he has those brain cramps at least once per game that destroy the game.
shovel pass when he had the ability to actually throw it to the running back on that last drive is an example of a game killing mental fuck up by him that he has at least a couple of each game. If he tosses that to him its a touchdown, instead its incomplete and they only get a field goal
is playing so much better than he did earlier in the year. But there is still a lot of fat to trim before you get to the filet mignon.
He's going to have a difficult decision when the season ends because he'll likely receive a first-round grade. You can teach him the mental side of the game, but no one can teach the incredible physical gifts he has. There are a lot of tools in that box...

He just screams JaMarcus Russell way too much to me, although a much better athlete.
You can teach some of the mental stuff, but some guys just do stupid shit regularly and never change. He may be one of those
memtal nistake. 3rd and 12 they get a guy to jump he has a free play and instead doesnt even throw it and takes off to run for 3. He does so many boneheaded little things in a game
play like that when the game is on the line you are so much better off throwing it near your sideline. No one will ever be able to convince me the coaches screaming for the flag don't have an influence on the referees in that spot.
If Florida State loses this game that ref should be suspended, hell suspend him anyways, not capable of doing his job
Zero interest in having him as QB on my team. He'll get a GM fired when they take him top 10.
He missed a wide open first down on 3rd and 12 by air mailing it over the guys head.
I go back to the shovel pass end of first half. He had no reason to do that and just got lazy and turned what woudl have been a 40 yard touchdown into an incomplete pass, wound up costing his team 4 points.
Let someone else be convinced they can fix him mechanically and the many brain cramps he has every single game.
Like you, I'm an FSU fan but I'm not 100% sold on Travis in the NFL. He's come a long way, but still misses some throws that he'd have to make on Sundays.
Maybe we'll get the best of both worlds: He'll come back next year, make the same type of progress that he's made over the past 3 seasons and turn himself into a draft pick after a double digit win season.

He had an 85% completion percentage coming into the game. His WRs dropped at least 10 passes.
But yeah, I am not sure he is NFL ready. Richardson clearly is not. Thinking he has a 10 cent head.
Michigan/Ohio State and ND/USC. These games will have big implications on the playoff picture.
Yeah. Alabama/Auburn is also always fun.
That is a huge game in that state. I think Auburn might be more interested in its next HC. They will be back.
Bama needs the win to get Saban's good season requirement of 10 wins. Amazing that it feels like such a letdown but the standards are just incredibly high with that program.
Between the massive 37 million-dollar hole their sports program is in and the team embarrassing itself every week despite all the money they paid Greg Shiano to come back, seems like something has to give

I want ohio state to win but that was the right call
where OSU really miss JSN. They are not able to take advantage of the middle of the field at all today, I'm sure a lot has to do with michigans back 7 but JSN in the slot was absolutely deadly.
Stroud is being really patient today but he's going to have to start taking some risks

The biggest mistake they ever made was joining the Big Ten. Even with a good recruiting class they are never going to be consistently competitive with the Penn States and the Michigans and the other big dogs in that division. It's never going to happen. But I don't know what the solution is because there's too much money involved and being demoted to another lesser division will be a big embarrassment I don't see the school wanting to accept. It's like they're going to have to get used to being the doormat of that division for the foreseeable future

Moody has been great all season - that was not a stupid decision.
I have family in Ohio/OSU grads. 2 goals every year...win natty and beat Michigan. Not always in that order too. Urban made them spoiled dominating the Wolverines.
I don't think Clemson will get in. I rather see Bama who has two losses on the road by a total of four points to two top 10 teams. They won't get in either.
I have been in favor of expanding this playoff to 16 teams for quite a while.
This years playoffs may be underwhelming in terms of high quality teams compared to some past years.
2 loss Bama
1 loss Ohio State
2 loss Pac 12 champ Oregon
I would think Oregon but I rather see Bama. I think that is too hard of a sell to put Bama in but they would give any team who does make it a big challenge and I think they would have a very realistic shot of winning the whole thing.
DO NOT DRAFT ANYBODY FROM FLORIDA STATE'S DEFENSE!!!
Really? Jared Verse is probably a top-20 pick. DT Fabian Love and S Dent might crack the top 100.
Jammie Robinson will go higher than Dent, but yeah both safeties are probably draftable. I don't argue with folks who watch one game and pretend they know everything about a team. Football is situational and every game is its own entity, especially in college rivalry games. It would be like me saying I wouldn't draft any kid off the OSU defense because they lost big to Michigan. It's just stupidity.
UM move up one, THE drops to 3.

Agree unless USC loses in the PAC 10 CG. Then I think Bama has a good shot. Ohio State with I believe 67th toughest schedule and today's big loss knocks them out imv.

Sorry, but how do you put a team in the playoff that won’t even play for their conference championship? They didn’t get edged out by a similar team. They got routed on their homefield by a much, much better team.
USC taking care of business against ND. They should be in ahead of OSU pretty easily.
In that scenario, I would bet that they would rather keep OSU in a 1 loss than USC. The only loss came from the #3 team in the country.
So
#1 Gerogia
#2 Michigan
#3 TCU
#4 OSU
would be my guess
Assuming USC wins the PAC-12, why would you take Ohio State over USC? USC’s one loss is by one point and Ohio State was crushed at home.
Easy, the cfp playoff system allows for discretion based on experience, and despite the fact that OSU lost to michigan, they lost to a much better team than USC and a possible osu michigan rematch is a ratings W. USC matchups are just simply not as interesting.
RE: RE: RE: RE: if LSU loses, is it USC that moves into the top 4 in place of OSU?
a possible osu michigan rematch is a ratings W. USC matchups are just simply not as interesting.
I dunno. I would rather watch Caleb Williams than an OSU-MU replay. Plus ratings-wise you're involving the west coast rather than confining fan interest to the upper midwest. I can't say for sure you're wrong but I don't find the ratings argument to be very convincing.
I don’t think anyone is looking for a rematch of OSU and Michigan. Rematches are great when the first one is a close game. This was one team running roughshod over an inferior opponent and there is no reason to think the second game would be any different.
I think the best QB in the country, likely heisman winner leading a conference champion is much more compelling TV than a rematch of a blowout.
But they were crushed in the second half. Unless they are the only 1 loss team standing they will not make the playoff.
As I said before it will be:
Georgia
Michigan
TCU
USC
Agree with this. If USC wins the PAC-12 Championship there is likely no discussion that they belong ahead of Ohio State. Their only outside chance is if USC loses.
OSU did not just lose to the #3 team in the country today. They got exposed as an over rated team that never should have been #2.
should ask Brian Kelly in his postgame tonight if he bailed on ND because he knew he had one of the worst QB and WR rooms of any major program. And he should answer for why that is. It's because of his inept recruiting at the position for about 5 cycles in a row.
ND wins that game tongiht if they had even a decent QB.
Caleb Williams is a punk. The 15 yard penalty and ejection would have been plenty worth it after the shit he was doing showboating.
I can't wait for Georgia to absolutely kick his ass. He's a remarkable talent but a punk. Fuck him
Kelly, Rees and Del Alexander torpedoed the 2022 ND team. They're not going to can Rees but the QB recruiting is partially on him too, but when you have a head coach who flat out refused to recruit 95% of the time it's hard to get big QB commits.
Michael Penix of Washington putting on a bit of a show

Tommy Rees is just awful. Estime averaged over NINE YARDS PER TOUCH and somehow played the fewest snaps of the three backs. He had half as many touches as Logan Diggs. Third down jet sweeps with Logan Diggs?
Drew Pyne just is what he is. I’m sure he’ll do a solid job at Western Michigan next season. That fumble was classic Drew Pyne and essentially ended the game.
I’d advise Marcus Freeman that when you get an opportunity like this, don’t allow people you don’t really want to have as subordinates to submarine it for you (eg Jason Garrett for Joe Judge). Move on from Rees and Golden if that’s what you want to do.
is fine. Rees I dont think they will move on from but I wouldnt be upset if they did.
ND losing to Stanford still boggles ny mind. Stanford is one of the 3-4 worst P5 teams in the country. Thry’re on their way to becoming Vanderbilt.
That Stanford loss was the most embarrassing of my time as an ND fan so 25 years or so.
Its funny to hear all of the analysts tripping over themselves making excuses for Shaw every chance they get. For years we had to hear how great he was.
They can score, they have a dual threat QB of their own, and of course they gave USC its only loss thus far.
USC will be coming off two hard fought, emotional wins in a row in a short week, while Utah had a walkover vs Colorado.
I would peg the champs game as a 50/50.
That is true - but all four top teams have good opponents next week. Georgia has LSU; TCU has K-State; Michigan has Purdue (maybe the least of the four opponents, but you never know); and as you say USC has Utah.
A lot could change based on these four games. If the top four all win, they're all through to the playoffs I would think. However, what if one (or more) loses? For example, if LSU beats Georgia in a close game? Or K-State knocks off TCU which is certainly possible.

Georgia is a 16 point favorite, same as Michigan. Using the converter, they are each 98% favorites to win.
USC and TCU are both 2.5 point favorites. I'm not that familiar with K State, but I'll presume the pros know what they're doing in setting the odds that close for them.
I mentioned USC's run-up to their champs game because I think having three high-stress games in a row is a factor.
I expect Ohio State is next in line if USC loses and perhaps for TCU as well. Not what I would do if I ruled the world, but that's what I see.
I have little doubt that Alabama is one of the four best teams in FBS. Both of their losses are by a combined four points on the last play of each game.
I would bet if they played any team other than Georgia, they would be a favorite on a neutral site.

Bama's issue is who have they actually beat that's any good?
Ole Miss? They've imploded at end of season.
They also were a couple seconds away from losing to Texas when Texas starting QB didn't play the last 3 quarters and to A&M who has been atrocious.
Florida at Florida State
Two pretty decent QBs you may want to see Richardson and Travis
You all know Richardson - he has a cannon. Jordan Travis has 85% completion percentage and has some wheels.
FSU's RB Benson is pretty good too - although he had major knee surgery while at Oregon.
He has the physical tools to make great throws at times. Which is why some people love him.

Maybe we'll get the best of both worlds: He'll come back next year, make the same type of progress that he's made over the past 3 seasons and turn himself into a draft pick after a double digit win season.
You might want to go back and watch some highlights of Jared Verse before you go ahead and make dumb ass comments like this.

Rhule is back at the level he belongs.
It's a major challenge for anyone to restore the winning tradition in Lincoln.
Another season of no offense. Finishing up with a game of no offense and no defense.
Bullshit - that was the right call. He was all over him before the ball got there
He stopped because he was at the back of the EZ. Ran right into the receiver.
That’s called 100 out of 100 times. College and pros
What is this a Seinfeld episode?
Should he have just run to the first row of the stands out of bounds?
He can stop. He didn't initiate any contact. The defender ran into him when he jumped and created the contact, and he still got a hand on it despite being interfered with so there's no way anyone can claim uncatchable when he got a hand on it anyways.
I want ohio state to win but that was the right call
At first I thought it was clear interference. The replay showed he interfered but I think some refs may have let that contact go.
PI - ( New Window )
Stroud is being really patient today but he's going to have to start taking some risks
It doesn’t matter - the DB didn’t play the ball. That’s always a PI
Will be interesting where he lands in the 24 QB Draft rankings
You really are an exhausting person. There’s allowed to be different opinions on plays you know that right?
Stroud is being really patient today but he's going to have to start taking some risks

75 yard run
And there goes Edwards again. 85 yard TD. Wow.
Game obviously turned on the all out blitz and broken tackle 70 yard td at 10-3
Huge win for South Carolina. Another Beamer making a mark.
Be interesting to see where Stroud lands in the draft. I don't see the best QB in the draft arguments.
And Oluwatimi would look nice in a Giants uniform next year
TCU, Michigan, Georgia and anyone else besides them. Theyr'e going to lose by 3 touchdowns at home, they dont need to be in the playoff
If not I'm not sure where the hell you would go.
LSU? But they have to play Georgia in the SEC title.
Ohio State needs to be huge ND fans tonight for sure
and could compete with anyone rated below them
Agree.

They beat one top 25 team who was ranked highly opening day.
Now you lose by over 20 at home.

Sorry, but how do you put a team in the playoff that won’t even play for their conference championship? They didn’t get edged out by a similar team. They got routed on their homefield by a much, much better team.
USC taking care of business against ND. They should be in ahead of OSU pretty easily.

Would seem to make sense to me.

I dunno. I would rather watch Caleb Williams than an OSU-MU replay. Plus ratings-wise you're involving the west coast rather than confining fan interest to the upper midwest. I can't say for sure you're wrong but I don't find the ratings argument to be very convincing.
I think the best QB in the country, likely heisman winner leading a conference champion is much more compelling TV than a rematch of a blowout.

USC will be coming off two hard fought, emotional wins in a row in a short week, while Utah had a walkover vs Colorado.
I would peg the champs game as a 50/50.
Rees cannot move on soon enough.

Good post.
Rising is a very good QB for Utah. Underrated draft prospect.
He went toe to toe with Williams when Utah rallied to beat USC in October. So, Utah will be ready. Whittingham can coach...

I actually still think they have the talent to hang with and potentially beat Georgia.
The wildcard will be if USC loses. I go with Big Game Nick over Small Game Day. Young over Stroud. 8th SOS versus 67th.
So Tuesday then the USC game seems where this is going imv.
