NFT: Yankees talk-No updates

Kmed6000 : 11/26/2022 9:02 am
Obviously, the Judge situation is holding up the Yankees and all of baseball, but am I the only one that wants no part of Cody Bellinger? It just screams Jacoby Ellsbury to me.

While a well-rounded player, his offense has been brutal since his MVP season. He can bound back and has upside, but he's been terrible, like Joey Gallo terrible.

Since MVP season:
295 games
.202 BA
.298 OBP
41 HR's
286 strikeouts
.620 OPS

Please, please, please stay away from Bellinger. Would be a panic move if we lost Judge.
two thoughts

Over the last 1000 AB, Bellinger's stats are worse than Gallo's, huge flag.

But, his defense is great and Boras wants him to sign a one year where he's looking to try to beast rebound to land a multi-year deal, with the short porch why not the Yankees as long as it's a one year deal.
listing the stats
Giantsfan79 : 11/26/2022 9:18 am : link
Bellinger from 2020-21: .193/.256/.355 (69 wRC+) in 900 PA

Joey Gallo as a Yankee: .159/.291/.368 (88 wRC+) in 501 PA
I guess if it's a 1 year deal its not too dangerous, but

he's just going to make our weaknesses weaker. He doesn't add what this team needs and I'd bet money that the last 3 seasons is closer to what he is than his MVP season or his rookie season.

I want no part of this type of all or nothing player anymore.
Curious what baseball fans think about the new rules and the shift....
Kmed6000 : 11/26/2022 10:49 am : link
Will BA's go up? Will pull hitting lefties be in high demand? Are there any stats that show how much an average hitters BA would go up without the shift?
Shift
GruningsOnTheHill : 11/26/2022 4:42 pm : link
I have always found the shift to be annoying, but I don't see how they can dictate where teams can & can't position their players.

Also, why do the Yankees have no interest in retaining Jim Taillon? Not a top-of-the-rotation guy and not a great ERA, but he was 14-5.
It rare when a young player falls off a cliff so abruptly

It happens but this type of drop off is perplexing.

Weird thing is the top 2 in NL MVP voting were Bellinger and Yelich in 2019...and both had disaster covid seasons and haven't sniffed the same type of dominance since..

On another note...Mets fan here so sorry for crashing the thread...but is it just me or is this the slowest MLB off-season in a loooooong time? So boring so far. What's the deal?
