Giants may get a schedule break (at Philly 1/8)

Sean : 11/26/2022 10:15 am
The Eagles hurt the Giants during the 2020 finale when they benched everyone. This year however, the Eagles very well may bench everyone since they will likely have the number 1 seed wrapped up. This could be a huge break for the Giants in getting to 10 wins.

I’m sure the doom & gloom crowd will say the Giants will still lose to Gardner Minshew and not win another game.

It’s going to come down to the Washington games. BBI favorite Mike Lombardi who I do think has a bias against NYG, said something similar:
Quote:
Despite their wonderful start, the Giants are not playing as well as Washington and might not make the playoffs. In fairness to the Giants, you can only hide an average quarterback for so long. They’ve done an amazing job keeping Daniel Jones playing within the framework of their offense and avoiding big mistakes. But you can only run so many naked bootlegs before the defense takes that play away. And if the running game isn’t humming, it places more pressure on Jones. They play Washington twice in the next three weeks along with Philadelphia. Then the Giants close the season with games at Minnesota, home versus Indianapolis, and at Philadelphia. The Philly game won’t mean anything to the Eagles, so count that as the Giants eighth win. Can they win two out of the remaining five? Next week versus Washington will essentially be a playoff game, and Washington looks more playoff ready then the Giants.

Is propped up due to their win versus Philadelphia. Is beating Chicago impressive? It was an ugly, ugly TNF game. Scraped by struggling, bad teams in Green Bay and Indianapolis. Lost to Minnesota. Beat a bad Texans team. They, too, lost to Detroit earlier in the season.

Let's see what happens next week but these guys aren't really impressive, however the Giants need some guys back especially on the OL.

The Eagles will likely play there starters at least a half to 3qrts. They do not want to have back to back buy weeks.

Also do you really think Philly will want to make it easy for the Giants to get a win? Especially a win to get into the playoffs?

I don’t think they’ll care. They’ll play the starters and then sit them. They had no issue letting the Redskins make the playoffs in 2020.
It all comes down to the next Washington game

If they look good and win, then they will likely get into the playoffs and deserve it. If they lose, they probably shouldn’t get into the playoffs anyway.

I don’t want them to back into the playoffs because the Eagles are not playing their starters.
They may not have the 1 wrapped up

They’re gonna play Titans next week which isn’t a guaranteed win, and have Dallas soon. It’s possible they’re fighting for the 1 seed with the Vikings, and the division with Dallas. I don’t think Eagles end up 16-1…
They may want to keep

some momentum up going into the playoffs
It probably won't matter

If the Giants are at 9 wins by week 18 they should have wrapped up a spot in the playoffs. A 10th win would likely have more impact on their draft position than their playoff seed.
Seahawks habe a tough schedule going forward
nygiants16 : 11/26/2022 11:18 am : link
they may not even get to 9 wins, Lions just got their 7th loss so they shouldnt be a factor and does anyone trust the Falcolns, i mean i hope we can this week but going forward?

I'm still looking to love someone like Mike Lombardi loves Mike Lombardi. The struggle is real.
I’m just looking forward

to getting Dex,Leo, Thibs and Ojulari on the field at the same time. If they wreck havoc on Washington’s OL it will be easier for Wink to protect the backend. Get the missing starters back on Offense (Brederson, Neal, Bellinger) and the offense should become productive again.
At some point, you have to start winning your home division games. They have Washington and Philly at home the next two. Let’s see how they do.

Come on man, who cares how they get in, just get in!
You did say "may get a break"......

...but I have a feeling the Eagles are going to need the game come January 8.

Just a hunch.

The Eagles despise the Giants more than anything on a fundamental level. They'll play the starters all 4 quarters if need be if the Giants need that win.

I agree. Their big run has wins over Green Bay, Houston, Colts (who were in dissaray), and the Bears. The lost to Tenn and Minny. So Philly as an upset and an outlier (much like our Tenn and Balt wins). This is pretty much what we have done. Plus Lombardi goes on about how bad Jones is but doesn't mention Heinicke? He's no better, and IMO worse than Jones.

Frankly the Redskins, as usual, are much like the Giants. No reason we can't beat them.

Not if it puts players in jeopardy they won’t. They are the better team and have bigger fish to fry than stonewalling the Giants. Hating one rival over another isn’t something you can measure anyway, I don’t know why or how you can think they are cool with Washington and not us.
